Based on news reports, the cabinet will decide today on the terms of reference and the constituents of the Royal Commission to be established.

This blog fully endorses the comprehensive recomendations made by the President of HAKAM, Malik Imtiaz Sarwar

One Response to “Royal Commission on the judiciary : What & what?”

  1. splim Says:

“I yield to no one in recognition of the difficulty and importance of the high office I hold. In evenly balancing the scales of justice, I will help to maintain the rule of law and the two essentials of that rule are the independence of the Bar and the independence of the judiciary” (Pledge made by Tun Suffian on the occasion of his elevation as High Court judge in 1961)

Judges of Tun Suffian’s calibre and integrity are almost extinct now because we, the people have failed them in 1988.

“To those who stand by and do nothing to protect the independence of the Judiciary will in the end get the Judiciary they deserve – one powerless to stand between them and Tyranny” (Tun Suffian)

So, people don’t let the Government off easily on this one.
