Representative Watch Committees
March 18, 2008
In the ‘My pledge to anak-anak Bangsa Malaysia’ post, I had promised that :
‘for every Barisan Rakyat candidate that is successfully voted into Parliament or a state assembly, I will put in place an initiative to set up for that constituency a ‘Representative Watch Committee’ (RWC). The function of the RWC would be to work closely with the elected representative and to report back to the constituents, at least on a quarterly basis. The representative is expected to keep the RWC informed of policy that is being formulated or discussed ad impending legislation. In turn, the RWC serves as a conduit pipe to channel to the elected representative matter of concern of the voters’.
However, I now think that there is no reason to exclude any constituency from this effort, if there are enough people willing to commit some of their time to see it through. For that reason, whether the rep is from BR or BN, I would be prepared to try and put together such a committee for every constituency if there are enough people coming forward.
I have sent out e-mails to the various ‘Get an MP’ groups to ask if there are anyone from those initiatives who would be prepared to give time to this effort and to also lend their thoughts as to how this initiative should be carried through. If for any reason any of you have not received that e-mail, please send an e-mail to thepeoplesparliament@gmail.com indicating your constituency so that I ca re-forward to you the e-mail that was sent to your e-group.
People, there are 222 Parliamentary constituencies. I have in mind a committee of 6 for each constituency.
If you would like to play a role in this effort to make sure your representatives in Parliament and the state assemblies serve you and your fellow constituents as well as they can, please send me an e-mail at thepeoplesparliament@gmail.com

Great idea, HI. This could also serve as a initiation and training ground for would-be BA politicians. Get in touch with the rakyat and know their problems first hand. Grass root support, sure way to being selected for running office.

Hi Haris,
Great, I’d like to be part of the PJS if possible. I like RepWatch- sounds a bit like the raptor watch that was just over last weekend – with eagle eyes shall we watch the representatives:)

Dear En Haris,
Excellent idea and admire your commitment towards a better Malaysia. Unfortunately, I’m abroad and can’t be of much use now. Look forward to the RepWatch.

Political Wind never Stopped!!
——————————-
There is a promotion of Tengku Nazaruddin
Protem Chairman of CAHC, ( Sub committee of APPAC ) to be Council of MPPJ after Edward Lee (Chairman of APPAC) being elected as State Assemblyman.
CAHC had been politically motivating RA to move Residents of Highrise to get Individual Water meter before able to get Domestic Water Rate from Syabas with the confusion of NO existing law governing Water meter and silent about Water Deposit and possible Installation Charge!
as mentioned in http://penangwatch.net/node/306#comment-1509
—————-
“CAHC is trying to get around this deadlock by getting the Selangor state government to legislate a law forcing MCs to hand over the water meters to Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas).”
——————
While individual water meter is stipulated in HDA, and,
RA is not an official representation of Residents. But, in many cases they were mis-used to “represent” the voice of the Residents!
CAHC had been motivating

Should this type of motivation of Relationship into Political be promoted? Because TN promote Edward Lee during GE12?

Only the Get An MP groups get an e-mail to join?
What about the Get to Know your MP groups? I would like to be part of this initiative. It is something we have to do if we want real change. Count me in for PJS, if I am permitted.
Avtaran,
Your input has always been appreciated.
Glad to have you on board.

I had sent an e-mail to thepeoplesparliament@gmail.com on 18.3 pm on subject matter regarding Subang Jaya.
May I have the courtesy of a respond?
Sharing,
I’ve gone thru the comments of 18/3. I reproduce below the only one from you that I have.
I agree with hihi080308
Rakyats can be asked to Boycott MSM
But please let Rakyats see how those YBs and Oppositions are handling as well!!
At least the Oppositions are in power in the 5 States and they have greater number of lawyers.
Can we see law and Administration at work rather than Campaign over Campaign?
Let bloggers be organized to disclose the twisting of MSM when they are still under BN
But let Oppositions deal with those ill-minded MSM legally and administratively?
Can we see how the Oppositions are handling this as well to put MSM in the Right track when BN is using them as instruments!
Should PP move more into Legal and Administrative directions and tell the Rakyats how they can communicate with the YBs to do their work or deal with their grievances?
Providing some outlines on what can be done or expected from those YBs (also Oppositions) to do!
To certain extend, many YB are lawyers and they should know how to defend legally and Administratively!
Is this the comment that you were referring to, that you sought a response to?
If so, you will forgive me for saying that I’m not really quite sure which aspect of your comment you seek to elicit a response from me.
