The RAHMAN prophecy

Everyone and his sister knows about how the name of our first PM spells the first initial of all successive PMs. Anwar was long expected to be the A following Mahathir but, as things turned out, Abdullah took that place.
Now there’s much speculation about who will finally be the N. Anyone except Najib, seems to be the popular sentiment. All kinds of name distortions have been tried. Someone even suggested Nurul. But I have not heard of anyone predicting beyond the RAHMAN Sequence.
A thought occurred to me. What if the RAHMAN Prophesy is indeed true. What if the completion of the Sequence signals its fulfillment?
What if Najib will indeed be the N, the final Nail in the UMNO coffin? And the prophesy is fulfilled with the end of the UMNO-led race-based politics.
Would we then see the beginning of the ANWAR sequence?
Anwar, Nurul (revolutionary? nepotist?)… and then W,A,R… are left to be seen.

I have always thought that the RAHMAN sequence has a big hole in it.
Why is the “R” is Tunku Abdul Rahman but the “A” in Abdul Razak? Should it not have been “R” for Abdul Razak too if you stick with the method used to pick the first “R”?
But then, “A” for Abdul Razak won’t fit the sequence, so conveniently, the “A” was used instead.
So if anyone chooses to ascribe some prophetic powers toi the RAHMAN sequence, it would be on the basis of data massaged to fit the prophesy.

are you suggesting Wan Azizah, Anwar and Nurul?
thinking out of the box?

Try to think also which Non-Malay could be a PM in future. Remember that the Constitution has no restriction as to race as PM.
Since Pakatan Rakyat is a breakthrough for racial politics, in this world of globalization, we should not put any race or religion as a first choice. PR should go for meritocracy.
Therefore after the demise of UMNO, PR should break the curse of prophecy named after someone. Lim Guan Eng also could be a PM.
April 16, 2008 at 5:51 pm
I think it’s time for us to break the prophecy like how we break the stronghold of BN on 838.
No one expects that the results would skew so much that it could bring BN down to their knees when months before 838, they are perceived as being so strong with all the possibility of electoral frauds. So maybe, we might just have ended the prophecy with it.

I like the idea that N = Najib and that the end of the RAHMAN prophecy.
I hope N will be the shortest PM in the history, like a few months and PR took over the federal.
Watching the video about the call of ‘Ketuanan Rakyat’ from Black 14 send the chill down my back. The kind of chill that make you feel good, I even stood up for our national anthem at home.

I’m thinking 2 weeks, but I guess I can live with 2 months.

Do give him 100 days to warm the bed in Seri Perdana.
When the honey moon is over, then take over.
To be fair to him, he has been a “Good Boy” to all his boss before.
Cheer!
April 16, 2008 at 7:11 pm
I like Harris’s interpretation better – “N” for nail in the coffin.
Shiok Guy, you are too kind – Where Najib is concerned, 100 days will not be warming the bed – he will C4-ed the whole country’s nons !! Don’t forget he’s the guy who has threatened to bath his kris with blood.
Allen Tan – I like your optimism, I think we still have a long way to go to see the day when a non can become a PM.
The journey towards full democracy for Malaysia is long and treacherous, I hope our children will be able to see that day.

RAHMAN
R RAHMAN;
A ABDUL RAZAK;
H HUSSEIN;
M MAHATHIR;
A ABDULLAH;
N – NO NO NO .
CORRECT CORRECT CORRECT !
April 16, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Btw.its not Najib but Mohd.Najib with the letter “M”. So the prophecy ends with Abdullah, while the alphabet “N” in RAHMAN stands for “New beginning”…
Pat Lah’s poor showing in the 12th GE and the aftershock effect felt in UMNO proves that BN/UMNO sudah kaput,
while we are at the dawn of a New beginning…..It can be Anwar or Abd.Hadi etc..
cheers.

April 17, 2008 at 12:23 am
Hey guys, how would you like this?
The RAHMAN theory, even if it holds true, is actually meant for the UMNO presidency.
That is, the present option of DSAI becoming PM be realized, while Najib only gets to be the last president of UMNO.
Afterwhich, UMNO evolves into a multiracial party.

It is amazing how what is thought to have been expressed in plain English is so easily misunderstood or the point missed entirely.
This is probably the root cause of all the shooting from the hip that can be seen taking place in the blogosphere.
Is this a failure of the education system or something more primal?
April 17, 2008 at 3:04 pm
HAHA.. my brother always reminds me of that sequence.
it’s probably just a case of self-fulfilling prophecy. c’mon ppl.. the more we think it’s going to be Najib, then it most probably will be.
i’m happy with just RAHMA…..

The prime ministers of Malaysia were Tengku, Razak, Hussein, Mahathir and Badawi. Thats T R H M B.
I don’t see any sequence.
I’m not into superstitions.

Hi Singam,
Its fully agreed that your above article in plain English is within he comprehension of all readers.
I’d like to point out that the “N” that might represent the “final curtain” for UMNO has been bandied about not long after the GE, not that I would attach any importance to such illogical presumptions.
Naturally, readers of TPP like myself would assume that the many intelligent people in TPP would have heard the same a month ago and are be beyond such trivialities.
As you’ve said, no one should have misunderstood your point. I don’t think anyone did. And to put it simpler on my part, I’m sorry to say that I’ve intentionally condensed and reproduced the main essence of your article in its entirety in my earlier post – to highlight its practical irrelevance and immaturity.
Let’s face it : Nothing, especially the fluidity of life and politics, hallucinates under anyone’s name, even if it’s of our beloved Tunku. Any political reader worth his salt would find such repeated “theory” tiring.
My point is, please don’t feel so attached to any of our own write-ups, especially if the ideas don’t deserve any intellectual space. And I’m not accusing you. I’m saying this based on your mistakenly worded response.
One writes when one is moved by something. Not to write anything just to see one’s name in print.
Haris once told me he doesn’t like censorship. Nonetheless, I think this is The People’s Parliament. Not The Mac’donalds.

Friends,
Don’t forget NAZRIN SHAH, the Regent of Perak. He’ll make a very good PM for Malaysia. Any comments!
April 17, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I agree that a person of Nazrin’s calibre would make a good PM. The trouble is he has another equally important role lined up for him.
I’m no republican. I believe our royalty do have an important role in governance. Raja Nazrin, like his father, will be an important person in the Council of Rulers.
Surely, as our fledgling 2-party system evolves, more capable leaders will come forth.
