many-colours-11Gerakan Mansuhkan ISA has announced that between November and December, this year, 17 ISA detainees have been released.

Going by Aliran’s figures in September, this year, that would mean another 47 still in detention.

Whatever the actual number, they should all be charged today or released today.

The ISA should be repealed today and a select committee of parliamentarians set up immediately to work on a draft anti-terrorist bill that has sufficient checks and balances built in so that no authority can ever abuse such a law.

Come join us this Sunday to send this message to the government : either the ISA goes or you go!

pj-isa-vigil114122008

We close each vigil by the singing of the Selangor state anthem and the Negaraku.

For those not altogether familiar with the Selangor anthem and its lyrics, the video clip and the lyrics reproduced below might be of assistance.

See you all this Sunday. Regulars, please try to bring another two friends or relatives along.

The lyrics

Duli Yang Maha Mulia
Selamat di atas takhta
Allah lanjutkan usia Tuanku
Rakyat mohon restu
Bawah Duli Tuanku
Bahagia selama-lamanya
Aman dan sentosa
Duli Yang Maha Mulia

Terima Kasih Haris for keeping the campaign alive and for your blog which we follow closely as being overseas we never forget all those prisoners of conscience esp. those seeking fairplay & justice for all Malaysians in a peaceful way.
Our thoughts are with the families esp the children of detainees.
Amnesty International,Suaram ,Human Rights Organisations,Parties like Keadilan-Pas-Dap and bloggers like yourselves are all contributing to the good cause of ending ISA.
The Road is long and hard but in the words of Obama ‘yes we can change ….but it must start with you and me ‘.

  6. LET LIBERTY BE FOR ONE AND ALL

Liberty for one is liberty for all
Otherwise we simply let basic liberty fall
And then it may be too late to make another call
When you only find yourself alone in the liberty hall

Why was the ISA enacted in the first place decades ago? It was enacted to make possible the protective measures to curb the activities of terrorists and communists during the emergency confrontations and now this ISA is illegally exploited by the past & present UMNO Home Ministers against dissenting voices from RPK and others and used this to protect the DeePM from political oppositions after being implicated in the Murder of Altantuya, the Mongolian Model. Those UMNO ISA supporters are ignorant lot and they are not protecting Malay rights but the excesses of the wrongdoings of their Leaders in which case is against natural justices for self promotions and nothing else.
