many-colours-11

Next Wednesday, 16th September, 2009, Hari Malaysia,  my friends and I who have been working on the Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia initiative will launch the same.

At the Rumah Anak Bangsa Malaysia, No.66, Lorong Setiabistari 1, Bukit Damansara.

Don’t know where that is?

No problem.

The map is HERE.

We’ll share with you what took us almost two months to put together : the Anak Bangsa Malaysia Charter.

We’ll launch our website.

And we’ll share with you our plans to take the message of One People, One Nation far and wide.

We’d like to see you at the launch.

If you’re joining us, please note that registration of attendees starts at 6pm.

The launch presentation is slotted to take off at 6.30pm, followed with a press conference and thereafter the sharing of a simple buka puasa meal with all those present.

We’re catering food.

Not a whole lot of food because, quite honestly, we haven’t got much money.

Truth is I’m hoping that we won’t have enough food for all of you who turn up, because that might mean we underestimated the numbers who care.

Should that happen, I’m banking on the love, tenderness and respect that I am certain you will all bring to the Rumah more than making up for any lack of food.

SABM T-shirts and badges and buttons will be on sale so don’t forget to bring your money which, I will shamelessly tell you, we need to push our programs forward.

Please treat this post as a personal invitation from my friends and I to you.

  1. Lynn Says:

    Dear Haris

Thank you for being so Malaysian as to launch the Saya Anak Bangsa Initiative on September 16th, which is Hari Malaysia. This is the day, West Malaysia merged with Sabah and Sarawak in 1963 to become M A L A Y S I A. This is the day we should all celebrate together to foster MALAYSIAN unity.

Sorry to say, being an ex-Penangite born in 1957 but resident in Sarawak for over two decades, I feel with my East Malaysian brothers that Hari Merdeka has no relevance at all, particularly in this 21st century.

Why should we keep on celebrating our independence from the British 52 years ago. We should move on from that history and instead celebrate our bonding together as Malaysians to steadfastly confront any and all global challenges thrown our way.

I keep asking myself why our government cannot see this simple point and keep on spending millions to celebrate Malaysia Day. Syiok sendiri kah?

Just like why our government cannot see the point of making nursery and kindergarten education compulsory for all children like twenty years ago. If they had done that, they wouldn’t need to ‘drag’ down the education standards till its sorry state today.

I am very touched that People’s Parliament led by brother Haris Ibrahim is leading the way by recognising this important event, the SABM initiative and launching it on the most relevant and significant date, Malaysia Day.

I congrulate all involved for their efforts in taking the SABM initiative thus far and and will do my little part in sharing it with our East Malaysian brothers.

    Lynn,

The SABM initiative will be coming to Sabah and Sarawak.

    Will be in touch

    • AnakBangsaMalaysia Says:

Well said Lynn, there should be a greater emphasis on the day Malaysia was unified.

    • Philip Says:

      Dear Haris,

Thank you for this initiative. I’d love to be there too but unfortunately it’s infeasible for me to be in KL that weekend.

Know that my thoughts and wishes go with you and other Anak Bangsa brothers and sisters.

      :)

  2. Good One, Bro!!

Will be there early to help out.

This is surely one historic moment.

    Long Live Anak Bangsa Malaysia!

I am definitely proud to be part of it.

    Sobs Sobs

  3. Caroline Ong Says:

  6. James Loh Says:

I noticed that there is also an event “Fast for the Nation, Peace for Malaysia” organized by some Malaysians. Is it possible for these two event be combined together? I think this can help garner more support. Why do you think Haris?

    James,

Might disrupt the program we have planned.

  7. lucia Says:

oh dear. would love to be there but can’t as in penang. wondering to myself if it will be too late for our bangsa malaysia penang group to plan a gathering on that day.

haris, once the date for SABM initiative in penang is set, please inform me at once, so that prior before the day, we can organise a few gatherings to ‘wake up’ the penang members.

    Sure

oh and btw, can i made order for the SABM materials, if i want to?

    Sure

    Greetings from land of Maples!
Congrats Haris and Team! Great you guys have put an admirable effort, wish I’m there!

    Yes, ONEnationONEpeopleVOICE!!!

  10. nstman Says:

Why must the enemies of the state keep telling us we are different from each other. Why must they keep telling us we are Bumi, non-Bumi. Why? 52 years after independence, and we are still as divided as ever. Because the enemies of the state, we know who they are, want to divide us so that they can survive. A classic divide-and-rule. Haris, keep up the struggle agaisnt lies, treachery, bigotry, idiocy. You are ahead of your time. You are ahead of the curve. All Malaysians must back you. To strive, To seek, and Not Yield.

  11. sampalee Says:

By the will of Allah,we pray that Bro Harris will lead ABM to greatness. My advice is only for him to heed the holy kithab at ALL times.

  17. francis ngu Says:

In Kuching, Sarawak, we are one with you.

We have been at central Padang, Kuching, on 16/09 for last several years.

Imagine in the earlier years the authorities consider that as illegal assembly, and sent FRU trucks to watch just some 20 of us during the first one or two years.

Since 16.09.08, this date is restored as Malaysia Day for the whole nation. There is no looking back !

TQ for your new 9/16 initiative. A New Merdeka is on the way.

  18. My Oumrie Says:

I’m confused. Is it Lorong Setiabistari 1 or 2?

  19. muhy Says:

if your charter include malaysia as a secular country, please count me out

  20. Dr. Amrit Sekhon Says:

    Harris,,,

We are Independent Already. Make 160909,, A SYMBOLIC DAY. A REMEMBERANCE OF AN INDEPENDANT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ILL CONFUSED OR FREE OF UNKNOWN,,,, SOCIAL CONTRACTS OR PARTY AGREEMENTS,,,,,, SIGNED BY SO CALLED FOUNDER FATHERS AND ALL THAT CRAB.

160909 SHOULD BE THE LAUNCH OF ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA YANG SIAP MENGHADAPI , EDUCATION , KNOWLEDGE , KEHIDUPAN , HAK ASASI MANUSIA , ECONOMY , KEDAULATAN NEGARA , KEHARMONIAN WARGA TUA , DAN MENGAHADAPI CABARAN DARI LUAR NEGARA.

WE WILL NOT INDULGE AND CONFUSE , ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA WITH , RACE , RELIGION , COLOUR OF SKIN , ORIGIN OF PLACE AND VIS-A-VERSA. WHEN BUSSINESS ARE DISCUSSED WITH AND M.O.U.S. ARE SIGNED , THERE IS NEVER A CLAUSE STATING ABOUT RELIGION , RACE , DEMOGRAPHICS , COLOUR OF SKIN , LET IT BE IN SAUDI ARABIA , INDIA , ISRAEL , EUROPE , ASIA , CHINA , USA , AFRICA , SOUTH AMERICA , RUSSIA OR ASEAN.
BN/UMNO GOVERNMENT IS THE ONLY MISERABLE PARTY , JUST FOR ITS OWN POPULARITY , GOES AROUND BEATING THE DRUM TO CONFUSE MALAYSIANS , FOR BN/UMNOS OWN AGENDA.

My 2 cents thinking but I can foresee the effort being taken,, IT SHALL HAPPEN , WE MUST KEEP GOING FOR ITS SUCCESS. BLESS YOU WITH ALL MY HEART.

This is the place we call home and no other human beings can claim to be more superior just because they think they are are born from superior *******.

    • Lynn Says:

Correct me if I’m wrong but is this Pelita Nasi Kandar chain belonging to UMNO’s Ahmad Ismail who called all nons ‘pendatang’ and got away with it with just a slight slap on the wrist?

    Dear Haris Ibrahim

Remember me a fellow member of the Bar and the Wakil Rakyat of Perak DUN Kawasan Pokok Assam Taiping and a true believer of Anak Bangsa Malaysia.

May we suggest we have a nation wide launch of your brain child of the “Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia Initiative” !

    Yee,

SABM ( not my brainchild, by the way, but the culmination of the efforts of many fine people ) coming your way real soon.

    Please e-mail me at thepeoplesparliament@gmail.com

  25. Sivin Kit Says:

    Dear James,
Many of us participating in the “Fast for the Nation, Peace for Malaysia” initiative will be joining the SABM Launch! I’m one of Them :-)

We have a common pre-fast meal at 5am, Lotus Restaurant (PJ State Cinema). But breaking fast it’s up to individuals at other venues. The most to finalize is a simple closing teh tarik later in the night.

Both initiatives are not mutually exclusive but complement each other. One is focused mainly for one day Sept 16(with perhaps longer term ripples), SABM a longer term consistent initiative which deserves committed long term support!

  26. mbas Says:

    Pauline,

You can order the T-shirts online.

Go to the “SABM T-shirts” page on the right-hand side of this blog, under “Pages”

    • Pauline Says:

Oops! Too eager to read your article that I didn’t see that! Thank you, and I hope that one day I’ll come home to a better Malaysia.

      Pauline,

I hope you come back and help to make this a better Malaysia

    Dear Haris
Thank you for being so Malaysian as to launch the Saya Anak Bangsa Initiative on September 16th, which is Hari Malaysia. This is the day, West Malaysia merged with Sabah and Sarawak in 1963 to become M A L A Y S I A. ///

Lynn, actually MALAYSIA was formed when SI (Singapore) was inserted into MALAYA to form MalaySIa.

    • Lynn Says:

      Dear The

Yes, Malaya merged with Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak to form Malaysia in 1963 but Singapore mutually separated two years later from Malaysia to become an independent entity. On hindsight, Singapore was wise to leave as it has progressed well.

Actually, quite a few Sarwakians that I know, the younger generation are quietly questioning why should we stay with Malaysia when East Malaysians are being treated like stepchildren when in fact Sabah and Sarawak are the ’siblings’ of Malaya.

Come to think of it, as you said the SI represented Singapore, where in the name of Malaysia do Sabah and Sarawak stand?

      • The Says:

The sad fact is, Sabah and Sarawak do not feature highly in the grand scheme of things in the formation of Malaysia. Brunei was courted for the oil, but the Sultan was smart enough not to join. Singapore was a sovereign state and “merged” as equals. I guess, Sabah and Sarawak were “acquired” to restore the racial balance, as the inclusion of Singapore will make the Chinese a very large minority. Talk about M&As!

  30. Pauline Says:

If only I could, Haris, if only I could…I may be here but my heart is always in Malaysia. The only way I could help is to forward SABM news to those back home. I like to thank those beautiful Malaysians, you, including, who make SABM project possible.

  31. For oneness great effort lets celebrate a new Malaysia with no difference on caste.

  32. drsaravananr Says:

    Guys,
i already collected my t-shirt 2 days ago. Size is XXL. It’s more like an XL size of other brands. I’m 172cm and 92kg (hahaha! i know! it’s the darn beers actually).
Haris, i’ll be there on the 16th as early as possible. Would be glad to help out. Pls do let me know if there’s anything that i can contribute. My number’s still the same.

    Cheers

    cheers

  33. Shakuntala Says:

Brilliant initiative,Haris & Co, anything in the way of an Educator to sharpen the wits of the Ra’ayat, is a most welcome, most timely of events…

It makes HISTORY even, as SABM is to be launched on the day of Malaysia’s birthday, 16TH Sept 09. A milestone and a day to remember in the anals of Malaysian history.

Now do your part to help spread the words around or help her in anyway on behalf of SABM.

    Your choice, Bro!

  36. romerz Says:

Good luck Haris on the launch. Thanks to Lucia Lai, we in Penang will try to have a similar gathering in Penang to break fast together around the same time as your launch.

If it’s ok with you I will try to call you on the mobile and establish some kind of webcam hook-up via Skype. Will call you tomorrow in the afternoon to work out the details.

In case Haris is too busy to establish the Skype link, those attending the launch who are prepared to make this link with Penang, please email me your Skype username or email add at romerzpg at gmail dot com.

See you guys on Malaysia Day!

  37. Dr. Amrit Sekhon Says:

    Harris,,

I did comment it somewhere,,,,,CHOICE IS YOURS..
Can the 16 as the date Formation of Malaysia. 9 noted as month of September and 9 as the year of launch. So we take 1699 as the Launch of ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA

  38. matkilat Says:

    Hi Harris,

Hope is not too late for me to comment…..

What time will this event run up to? I am afraid I will be delayed due to certain meetings taking place late in the evening, and may only be able to arrive after buka puasa. Perhaps around 8.30pm.

However I really do not want to be seen as rude by arriving late, so if it is too late I will see you another time.

    Thanks mate.

    Another Anak Bangsa Malaysia.

    matkilat,

Haris … so what happened on that night? We are curious to know!!! :)

  54. True malaysian Says:

Hey Haris Great work. To hell with 1Malaysia which is concoted by Najib to fool people and keep himself in power.
I’m with you all tha way to create a Malaysian Malaysia.
Although I’m of Indian origin I DON’T CONSIDER MYSELF AN INDIAN because I was born here, I was educated here, earned a living here and will probably die here as well and be buried here. I’m not a pendatang as umnoputras call us. My wife is of chinese origin also born and bred here. We are 100% Malaysians not Indian, Chinese or Chindians as some call my children. We are Malaysians and therefore we should have equal rights as all other Malaysians who hold Mykad(legally)should have irrespective of race creed or colour.
We are with you all the way to create one and only one race Malaysians and therefore anak bangsa Malaysia.
It is regretable that we are divided as Bumiputras and non Bumiputras which was the brain child of none other than the father of our present prime minister Najib. The day this came about we became a divided nation and it accelerated under Mahathir and subsequent PMs.
I do not dispute the NEP if it is used to alleviate the standard of living of all poor people be they of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Eurasian, Orang Asli, East Malaysian ethnic people or any one who is a citizen of this land deserves to lead a decent life with all the resources that this land is blessed with. Lets make Malaysia a better place for all who are its Anak Malaysia and kick out those who stand against such wishes and only care about themselves.

  55. True malaysian Says:

Haris keep us posted of all your events so that we may support it. Put it in Malaysia Kini which we subscribe as well as Malaysia Today.

  56. Dr.Hamid Ibrahim Says:

    ANAK BANGSA CHARTER.

    Dear Haris Ibrahim

Congratulations for initiating the ANAK BANGSAR CHARTER concept.

Actually there is no need for it because it was already
    written in the Federal Constitution that ALL OF US ARE EQUAL;
but because the Administrators have messed it up during the
past 51 years, we have to ascertain again and again this point.

Anyway let us wait and see the response from the concerned quarters.

Although Abraham Lincoln said that Equality was for all, the
whites did not accede to it in practice. Anyway, today
we have a BLACK PRESIDENT in the States. Even as late as
1960 a black women cannot sit in the front seat of a Bus
It took Rosa Park the strength to withstand the abuse by the
    WHITES.

I hope oneday we all will be Equal in reality – not only
    in LAW.

    Dr Hamid Ibrahim
    20th Sept 2009.

  57. Jane Lai Says:

Yes! We all ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA, even with different skin colors, mother language & religion! We born & growth in this peaceful, multiculture country and we all LOVE it !That’s the evil politician try to destroy our relationship by doing dirty jobs that make us in today’s situation!Let us hand in hand together make the evil to step down in next general election to save our beloved country!!I love you, Malaysia!!
