New Sabah PKR captain ahoy

hummingbird1Lil Hummingbird caught up with me in the carpark of the Jalan Duta Court Complex late this morning.

“You hear about the PKR politburo meeting last night?”, he asked.

“No”, I replied.

“Bunch of wankers! Wasted three hours of their miserable lives trying to conduct a post-mortem of the Bagan Pinang by-election disaster when they can’t even see the problems they are creating for themselves right under their very noses.

If you ask me, the only good that came out of that meeting last night was the decision to replace Azmin as head of PKR in Sabah”, he disclosed.

“When is this supposed to take place?”, I asked.

“Well, they allowed Azmin to rave and rant about the need to put in their proper place the 16 division heads from Sabah who had the audacity to communicate to PKR HQ their total lack of confidence in him, and then directed Azmin to get a consensus of all division heads on a new state chief. They’ve set the 25th of this month to announce the new man”, he replied.

“Okay. Anything else?”, I asked.

“Ya. You got access to Zaid?”, he asked.

“Can be arranged”, I offered.

“Pass this message to Zaid. The daggers are drawn. Watch his back. Make sure he gets the message and takes it seriously”, he shot back as he roared off on his two-wheeler.

Pakatan is in a sad state of affairs. PKR reminds me too much of UMNO. Not surprising too, since most of the members ex-UMNO, and the culture is the same. And PAS reminds me of Talibans. The problem is more than just Hasan Ali. It is his bosses like Nas and Hadi. They seem like the same stock, and that is why Hasan is so brazen. And LGE is better than the other two, bust since it is a mostly Chinese based party (with only a few recently recruited Bumiputras), it can’t get the mandate to lead based on today’s raced based culture in Malaysia. And as a bunch, the three amigos are totally discoordinated. Even if the 3 headhonchos shake hands on the stage, their troops bite each other on the ground, and their masters do not (and not willing to) discipline them.

    • bangunumat Says:

typical ah beng remark.i would not trust lge one bit since he is worse than snake.the indians and the malays will never trust dap .remember we voted for pakatan rakyat not dap .so,******* please don’t shiok sendiri!

      • raymond Says:

Please remember LGE went to prison for an underage Malay girl, because he expose the real culprit. Pleasemdon’t compare him with a snake.Would you have don’t that.Don’t just open your mouth and critise. Know the facts, if LGE is not for every Malaysian regardless of race, he would not had defended the Malay Girl.

      • bangunumat Says:

And lge is still worse than a snake.as the saying say ‘power corrupts the sane mind’or something similar.

  2. francis ngu Says:

With due respect to the repective current State chiefs of KeAdilan in Sabah and Sarawak, it is undeniable that there is now growing dissatisfaction that the leaders have to come from Peninsular Malaysia. Sabahans and Sarawakians, within and without KeAdilan, expect leaders from their own states to lead.

The Politburo would be well aware of the matter, and the sooner a Sabahan and a Sarawakian leader takes over the better for the party, in order to regain its oomph in the 2 states.

  3. sampalee Says:

Be it the affairs of nation, political parties and all forms of organisation, family lives, academic research or plain mundane living,we need to realise the Truth to escape bondage of every kind up to the sickness, old age and death of our bodies and our entry into the hereafter.
The kithab is the guide for overcoming every single problems by understanding.Faith in the kithab is the entry, but final understanding of the truth is paramount. Why worship Tuhan 100 times a day,if we show no enersty in the kithab sent down by him. When one believe Tuhan, one does not harbours doubts in his messages. And is’nt it more relevant to understand Tuhan, then merely worshipping him?
And not making efforts to understand Tuhan message[Quramn]reduces the worship to meaningless ritual

  4. amoker Says:

I think we live in the world where compliance and quietness is seen as the way of working together. In Europe, coalitions do not need to always agree on ALL platforms but the important ones. As Malaysians, lets not be duped by the UMNO iron fisting the component parties to submission. We need to be able to handle a bit of ‘chaos’ and uncertainty. That is equal partnership

  5. Phua Kai Lit Says:

Does it really matter whether the person is Sarawakian or Sabahan or West Malaysian as long as the person UNITES the people (Big Tent politics), INSPIRES the people (YOU AND OTHERS LIKE YOU can change things for the better)and gets things DONE
(electoral victories in Sabah and Sarawak)?

Always keep the “Eyes on the Prize” i.e. regime change at the federal level. (After that, we can sort out our ideological and religious/value differences through compromise. This is what democracy is all about).

  6. barry Says:

I have to agree with Ah Beng that PKR reminds me too much of UMNO, and this is clearly causing a revolt in the 2 states in East Malaysia. The situation in PAS is not helping either, with Nik Aziz seemingly fighting a lone battle against the other PAS leaders. PAS lost BP in no little part due to the problems created by itself in Selangor. Remember, non-Malays/non-Muslims are not all that warmed up to PAS, contrary to what PAS may think.

  7. tualamphar Says:

Wah… now Harris playing PKR insider… putting up anonymous sources….

  8. anwarg Says:

    and DAP is perfect,what co^k r u talking about.
to me everyone in pakatan need to change to the rakyat needs.

  9. jesseltonite Says:

    Haris…

If you get to see Anwar..tell him that he needs to forget about rushing to get his PM’s job. Refurbish PKR Sabah..work with DAP and SAPP..He needs to get rid of Jeffrey and Ansari. With these two people, PKR will never succeed in Sabah cos they’re carrying too much baggage. I don’t understand why PKR cnanot get new faces in. Clean and unblemished. Young, aggressive and innovative.

It was Jeffrey who refused to work with DAP in Sabah when allocating seats. It was mooted that DAP should be given the opportunity to contest urban seats..PKR to fight for rural seats. Because Jeffrey was greedy, PKR and DAP failed to strike a deal. I’m sure with your extensive Election 2008 analysis.. you know that PR in Sabah lost at least 6-7 parliament and state seats because of split votes.

PKR will fail if they don’t listen to the younger Sabahan voters. PKR will fail if they depend on old horses with corruption baggages which Sabahans will never forget.

I don’t understand…I really don’t understand why PKR cannot recruit young and bright Sabahans and Sarawakians..why PKR must rush things and appoint all these corrupted political hasbeens so as to gain power quickly….

I’m so sad that the hopes of a strong Pakatan Rakyat whose possible federal government have pledged to honour the 20point agreement is becoming weaker and weaker everyday when common sense did not prevail. What should have been done has not been done…e.g. setting up of a shadow cabinet…registering as a formal organization…

Come on Pakatan…there is still time to turn this around!..you need the younger generation..need to do it wisely..not rush to powerful political hasbeens like Jeffrey and Ansari…they will only drag u down…

  10. arianna Says:

    Dear Haris,

Azmin needs to be taught a lesson. It is clear that he or for that matter PKR leadership do not understand the sentiment of the rakyat in Sabah and Sarawak.

I don’t understand how Anwar, having being in the BN govt before, and quite close to some Sabah leaders including Yong Teck Lee, is still blind to our feelings.

For any party to win, you must let the local boys lead the way and believe me, Sarawakians and Sabahans would support any party that give them autonomy rule.

Why do you think East Malaysians are anti-federal? Simply because they have continued to colonise us and dictate what we should and should not do. Or how to run our state.

The cost of living in Sabah is so high because of that blood sucking shipping policy to enrich groups in the peninsula. And we are bitter about this, among our grievences.

And to think that the fed govt took 95 percent of our oil revenue!

  11. rajan Says:

    Hi harris and all,

BP , loss of indian votes ? Bn Won ! Loss of chinese votes ? Why ? Bn won.
I knew that a bunch of graduates were silently campaigning for PR /Pas and they did their best and gave it their all but what they did was not “relevent” and did not attract the attention of BP ppl.
But Mic youth really did it to secure the indian /chinese votes for BN. “credit must be given where credit is due”.Strategically and tactically.

While all had “ceramahs” everywhere with imported crowd, the mic youth went into ‘personal mode’ and made ‘friends’ with the ‘cheerleaders’ of BP. They focused on people who make the difference.
They became very personal and slowly injected the venom that pas is up to no good and PR do not bother about indians/chinese. Mind you ,this was done in small groups of people having the same “intrests/mindset’but who are influential in their own ‘way; among the residents of BP.This had the multiplier effect.Soon the people of BP were convinced that pas/pr is up to no good.
Pictures of the demolition of KBP houses were shown but the effect was superimposed by “testimonies’ by the residents of KBP. Mic youth then went for the kill! Most residents of BP ,who are voters ,are in the same ‘boat’ as the residents of KBP. This clicked with them and and could relate to this problem,of course, fear for their intrests, will/can PR/pas/dap/pkr stand up for them or go the way of KBP. CM penang ,did not do anything for the residents of KBP was the point stressed.
Clippings of ” i dont need 300 indian votes of KBP’ was stressed, thus ,the hate for dap.I dont think that these voters will go for dap anymore.
most of the guys who attended these “underground’ brainwashing sessions, were then told, can they enjoy these little pleasures of having their’drinks’ to ‘relex’ ,if pas were to come to power, then these ‘little pleasures’ after a hard days work will be denied referring to hassan ali on barring beers etc in muslim areas. They were told , if you stay in a muslim area and want to have a drink, can you afford to go to a 5 star hotel and pay rm 15++ for a glass of beer. We must be reminded that the average salary of the workers there in BP is about rm 17 -20 a day as most are daily paid workers.
The residents were given Isas phone number and if they need help, just call, and he will be there in return for their help in making him win. What i was told he replied to a ‘test’ call.
Hey ! the bye election is no place for priests and god fearing men/women. Its do or die ,sort of thing.
I believe that the end of PR is near if the campaigning takes these route.
Corruption ! Who cares ! those guys were told , Who does not take money but if money taken is given to the needy and shared ,so what ? there was a round of applause !
To end this comment ,i would wish that the infighting, passing of comments against one another ,outdoing each other, must STOP NOW in PR.
Get rid of any PR “leader” who does not run the ‘relay; race. Dont worry about losing one or two or three seats, Get this guys out.
GE 13 may not be so sweet as GE12 for PR.
God bless you, me and all. TQ

  12. donplaypuks Says:

Pakatan ain’t gonna win every by election, especially if it is at an UMNO stronghold like Bagan Pinang. It would have been nothing short of a second coming had PAS won there.

What I see happening now is a classic management problem – ANALYSIS PARALYSIS!

This creates a sudden lack of confidence whereas, following Manik Urai, it was sky high.

And now we can see where the real problem is. Kit Siang, Nik Azizi and Anwar have to get off their colective asses and come out blazing against the spindoctoring of the UMNO/BN controlled media to wrest the high ground which is Pakatan’s. The soldiers need their sagging morale lifted and the Generals are analysiing Bagan Pinang to death instead of carrying on with the battle!

And don’t let the puppet Makkal Sakthi fool anybody. No Indian worth his salt will vote UMNO/BN come GE 2013 unless UMNO/BN has reformed beyond recognition for the better.

There seems to be a lot of BN Cybertroopers at work nowadays …. blaming this, poking that and seeding discord.
Hope PR can do some PR and damage control and the Genuine Bloggers don’t aggravate the situation.
East Malaysia is a different monster, with different issues and priorities. Feed the needs of Rakyat, not the Power Hungry. That is the difference between the incumbent and the aspiration.

  14. jesseltonite Says:

    Dear Haris,

Here are some suggestions for PKR.

    1) Allow Zaid to come to Sabah and Sarawak. That way, you will win over the hearts of Sabahans and Sarawakians. This will also show that PKR and PR in general is relevant and understands the aspirations of Sabahans and Sarawakians.

    2) Win support against Jeffrey within PKR. Contrary to popular KL-beliefs, he is actually not that influential. On top of that, Sabahans will never forget his brainlessness and his corrupted past. The only reason why the 17 divisions support him is because he is a Sabahan. There are many among PKR that can hold this party together. It will be damaging in the short term, but in the long run, PKR will emerge stronger without Jeffrey. Eventually tho, PKR Sabah needs to run on its own. Jeffrey cannot win support over Sabahans. Anwar needs to be strong and be firm on his decision not to appoint Jeffrey.

    3) Extensively search and inspire young blood to join the ranks of PKR. Young and idealistic lawyers, businessmen, professionals etc. are a good choice. There are many who are willing to fight for a better Sabah. If it is necessary to get former BN people, filter them and make sure they are clean and committed to the cause for a cleaner and more efficient government. Groom these youngsters into future politicians.

    4) Get rid of the UMNO culture.

    5) Last but not least..promise to assist to reinstate the 20point agreement in full. Sabahans have been raped and robbed for too long by the BN led Kuala Lumpur govt. Be the opposite..and you will win over many many Sabahans.

  15. Leithaisor Says:

Alamak… you Little Birdie chirped rather accurately this time!

I think there has been ample cause for our fellow Malaysians in Sabah and Sarawak to have developed a healthy distrust of the Federal government.

Unfortunately this has also translated into distrust for all Peninsular politicians, including those from Pakatan.

I cannot blame them; I would rather they be cautious than be conned. Better that all Peninsular politicians have to earn the trust and support of East Malaysians.

If they accept a Peninsular politcian and what contributions he can make, then and only then, should he campur tangan there.

Zaid is good man who should be able to prove his worth to their satisfaction.

However, there are others in Pakatan who may not be able to do so. Their presence should not be imposed on the East Malaysians. No we-know-better Big Brother type behaviour must even be contemplated.

Lest we forget, Pakatan’s record has not exactly been spotless and shining, what with Hasan Ali and Zulkifli Nordin wielding self-granted mega-powers and displaying disdain for due democratic process and rights of minorities, PAS’ deputy president and Youth chief spouting ultra-Islamist spiel, the Kedah MB and his 50% bumi houses quota, Guan Eng’s inept handling of Kg Buah Pala and Hadi being so quick to hold talks on the quiet with UMNO post-March 2008.

Then there is the latest report that Gabriel Adit of PKR may be about to katak back into BN’s fold after hopping into PKR from BN-PBDS in 2008 does not exactly reflect well on Pakatan either (though admittedly Adit is a S’wakian). Especially when these words were used to describe the move:

Reliable PKR sources told Malaysian Mirror
that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has
agreed to the deal with Adit, who is believed
to be facing personal problems including
    financial debts.

“Adit was given a good offer to return to the
Barisan Nasional fold plus promises of further
help for himself and his constituency,” the
    PKR source said.

(I suppose there is a lesson there that East Malaysia has it’s share of katak’s too whose loyalties and motives are as universally questionable.)

I say again, Pakatan has to win the trust and support of our fellow Malaysians in Sabah and Sarawak before imposing any Peninsular politicians on them.

  17. PH Chin Says:

Apparently PKR is following the path of self-destruction. External enemy is easier to fight than internal power struggle, and sadly PKR is involved in such a dire situation.

I hope Datuk Seri Anwar can quickly resolve the current infighting, and stop following MCA’s path to self destruction.

  18. SpeakUp Says:

DSAI is a lousy leader, only talks about syiok sendiri matters such as NO ISA, Take over Malaysia, PROTEST! When, come on when has he taken people like Zul Nordin to task?
