That has been my experience on this journey thus far.
The SABM KL Roadshow and Forum last Saturday at the Kuala Lumpur & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall was no different.
It was a colourful affair, both in terms of speakers and musical presentations, as well as the audience, without whose presence, there would have been no forum to speak of.
The SABM website has an excellent pictorial of the event. You can catch it HERE.
A member of the audience has shared his thoughts on the forum in his blog. You can read the same HERE.
Sivin Kit, one of the speakers at the forum, has uploaded his presentation on his blog for the benefit of those who could not make it to the forum. HERE it is.
In a later post, I will try to share some thoughts that have been on my mind since Nanda spoke to me on Christmas night last and which I tried to share with the audience at the forum.
What do “I am Malaysian” and “I love my country”, mean?
How do we begin to nurture ‘love for country’ in our young?
For now, I leave you with these video clips of the forum.

Excellent Roadshow! Kudos to Haris and the panel of speakers and logistics team who made this happen.
You have planted the seed for change.
I learnt a lot from the videos posted.
Many Thanks

Powerful stuff, Haris. I watched this with tears in my eyes. I regret that we were away when this was happening. Next time SABM does a roadshow in KL/PJ, the whole family will be there with bells on.

Haris,
Are you talking to the converted? Many of us city dwellers and/or English speakers already knows what to do. Are you planning to bring your message to the Bahasa Malaysia speaking community and/or those in the kampongs? If so, I am prepared to contribute financially.
Activism for Dummies,
You have long been a convert who needs no preaching to.
What have you done to take any message to the Malay heartland?
And if you, like many converts, have done little to take the message to the Malay heartland, that may be why the converts still need speaking to.
Financial contribution? That’s the lowest form of contribution.

I have participated in the March for Justice, BERSIH, nearly arrested at the BERSIH rally, voting agent and counting agent March 2008, helped in voters registration, asked people I meet if they have registered to vote, helped check their registration details. Now tell me how do we take the message to the Malay heartland?

“… nearly arrested at the BERSIH rally” should read “nearly arrested at the BERSIH anniversary”.

I can even try to translate including what you and others write into what I think is passable comprehensible Bahasa Malaysia, but suspect it probably would be “tak sedap” and less influential.
