“Today, we are facing groups like Perkasa, racist groups that are supported by Umno. That was why I challenged (Perkasa chief) Ibrahim Ali, eventhough I am Malay and Muslim. I cannot support those who are racist. We don’t want Malay-saja… we want a Malaysia. We must fight racial politics” – YB Nurul Izzah, urging the Chinese voters in Galas to give their vote to PAS and reject the race-based politics of BN, as reported in FreeMalaysiaToday.

Yes, she is turning out to be a gem… with her political & self value increasing by the day.
I hope she can learn from her dad’s ‘mistake’ ~ infamously speaking/agitating/instigating with forked tongue to different races, during the early and not so long ago days ~ and not have excess baggage to carry in her political future. Good wishes to Nurul

At least she is straight forward and consistant in her approach to politics. She does not speak with a forked tongue to suit the ethnicity of her audience. She is a very much better leader than the rifraff, driftwood, inconsistant racist scumbags that you find among the UMNOputras and the exUMNOputras in the PKR.
She had the guts to challenge the katak Ibrahim Ali, Mamakthir Mohamad Kutty to a debate whether Malaysia is for All Malaysians or to the Malaysaja.
Knowing they are no match for this puteri reformasi, they put their tails between their legs and disappeared even without as much a remark.
All they could do was to make police reports against her and send in their PDRM hounds who are turning out to be more of rabid lapdogs of the UMNOputras.
She is made of sterner stuff than the corrupt, racist and holier than thou UMNO Malays.

We recall no disaster with ‘Zaid the Hero’.
As for Zaid Ibrahim — the Zaid we all recognise — he remains consistent, clear, practical and forward-looking in his views with regards to where to take PKR, Pakatan Rakyat and Malaysia.
It is sad that the same cannot be said for his rival, ‘Azmin the Little Napoleon’.

Do you judge a person’s vision for a country and his willingness to pursue it merely by account of his presence or absence in a by-election campaign trail?
For example: didn’t Zulkifli Noordin trail Anwar and the rest to every corner of the country in the past?
Let’s not judge a man, his conviction and ability by unreliable yardsticks.
Let’s be a bit smarter.

It is respect and admiration that we have to feel for this charming young lady, when she joins us to demand that we all want a Malaysia and not Malaysaja
She has started off so well….her gestures so far in speaking up for all Malaysians have no doubt already endeared her to us.
She has to remember that she has to live up to her strength, her singularity and her constant efforts assuring us that she wants the changes we Malaysians also want.
How refreshing to know that finally a politician of the calibre of Nurul Izzah and we, are on the same wave length.
Bravo Nurul Izzah!

I am dreaming of a dream team that will lead Malaysia after the next election. Nurul, Haris, Hannah Yeoh, Lim Guan Eng …. too good to be true.
Van Martinier
November 4, 2010
I would exclude Lim Guan Eng from the list, if I were you.
As steadfast as DAP might be as a political party for a corruption-free and democratic Malaysia, Lim Guan Eng, for all his incorruptibility, is still a weak leader with no clearly elucidated policies and one who might lead us down a regrettable path of undue compromise.
Malaysia needs leaders who are not only incorruptible, but are also visionary, practical and to-the-point, and forceful enough to bring to fruition their visions and be practical and clear about the steps.
Nik Aziz may be a kind man and incorruptible but is dogmatic and not a visionary. Dzulkefly and Khalid Samad — principled, but dogmatic beneath their weak ‘liberal’ sheepskin.
Anwar and Azmin — they are chameleons who are difficult to pin down and thereby to trust.
Lim Kit Siang — visionary and incorruptible, certainly, but sadly is lacking enough acceptance amongst the Malay community.
PSM’s Dr. Jeyakumar — visionary, principled, but I see no evidence of his forcefulness.
Nurul Izzah seems to be about just the only one amongst the highly popular politicians who shows some promise, but we should wait and see. Her initial indecisiveness about and eventual capitulation from competing for PKR’s deputy presidency post makes some worry whether she is independent and strong enough.

Nurul – conflict of interest via parental presence in PKR, harms party culture
Azmin = Goh Chok Tong, interim Pres to pave way for Nurul.
Zaid = Oliver Platt playing Carl Anheuser in 2012, potential UMNO stooge, but likely to be a great leader WHEN UMNO and it’s corrupt culture falls. A potential trojan.
Tian Chua = Multiracialism for PKR, his ‘loose-cannon’ trademark grin looks ready to take a bite out of UMNO. A potential *PAP* fifth columnist (all DAP are potential pro-PAP fifth columnists IMHO) and political mercenary.
Christina (Never heard of her!!! Whos that?)
Jeffrey Kitingan – While there do not seem to elements of *ACTIVE* nepotism by the brothers, Jeffrey causes oligarchy via an established family bloc with brother Joseph Pairin. Jeffrey has had reputation of shifting alliances so like Zaid, UMNO needs to be out of the cabinet and his brother out of politics before Jeffrey can be acceptable in PKR. A potential trojan.
Mustaffa is still the best choice among the Malay candidates being neutral and not related to anyone. A vote for Mustaffa is a vote for healthy political culture, conflict of interest free, oligarchy free.
I am not voting Nurul but careful of Zaid. Zaid said he would support Nurul by saying he will quit if she runs, but he has not kept his word.
Martinier, the nepotism and oligarchy issue make Nurul unsuitable to be any gem at the moment. To ensure a HEALTHY political culture, her presence will be harmful until both parents have retired from politics ENTIRELY or have passed on (no ill intent). Even then second line leaders who have not had parents in the central committee and presidency would still be better.
These are such strictures of ethics in politics for HEALTHY political culture or we are headed the way of North Korea or Singapore. These things are being neglected at the risk to the nation unlike Nik Aziz asking son-in-law Ariffami to QUIT Kelantan Mentri Besar Corporation (PMBK).
Nurul will best remain to form the backbone of the party but she would likely not be suitable to head PKR itself or hold any ‘plum posts’. She is a gem for many things, but the conflict of interest via Oligarchy or Nepotism issue is something no conscientious person could ever abide by and NOT LOVABLE AT ALL.
Vote for the most ethics complaint person Mustaffa, even while we must recognize Nurul’s value to the nation. This like Nik Aziz and SIL case, is truly playing it clean.

Your logic is flawed.
Aung San Suu Kyi’s father was a national leader who preceded her.
Does that mean Aung San Suu Kyi is unfit to lead Burma, that she is an unfit beacon of hope and reform for Burma?
Likewise, whether Nurul Izzah’s dad is Anwar Ibrahim or some other random man in the street, judge her by her vision, ability, actions and spirit.
We should not dismiss or deny anyone of talent and capability the chance to lead a nation to betterment just because they are by fate born into a certain family. Let the people choose. If their choice is Nurul Izzah, then that it shall be.
The issue of nepotism shall not arise if the person is seen to be principled and capable and is therefore wanted by the people themselves.
Nepotism exists where someone in power appoints undemocratically a family member or friend to positions of power. It is this that situation that could be problematic. Think of Mahathir and Daim Zainuddin, think of Mahathir and his sons and the MISC shipping fleet and F1 Circuit management, for example. Think of Najib and Rosmah and her public-funded PERMATA, think of unelected Raja Nong Chik of the Federal Territory.
Nurul is an elected representative, she has sufficient experience, she is fit to lead in the opinion of many, and she shall continue to do so at the highest levels if the people desire it.

It is your enthusiasm that causes your flawed thinking. I hope you will understand the below.
This ra-ra Nurul = Obama phenomenon is getting in the way of progress. And we all saw what happened in USA. If neglect (aka ROT) in party culture sets in now, PKR will become UMNO in no time.
Aung San Suu Kyi is INDEED unfit to lead Burma, an unfit beacon of hope and reform for Burma *SIMPLY BY* ethical and conflict of interest considerations – by considerations to prevent OLIGARCHY.
As Nurul Izzah’s dad is Anwar Ibrahim her vision, ability, actions and spirit MAKE NO DIFFERENCE where ethical or conflict of interest issues arise. There is only one way to show she toes the ETHICAL line, by not directly taking control of the party ESPECIALLY when both parents are active within the party. This is a public government party NOT your private sphere home business.
Anyone of talent and capability MUST show INTEGRITY and NOT compromise democratic ideals via the prevention of OLIGARCHY. By fate someone born into a certain family HAS AN UNDENIABLE ADVANTAGE AND EXPERIENCE THAT FURTHER CONSOLIDATES WITH EACH SUCCESSIVE GENERATION until an *aristocracy* of POLITICIANS form Oligarchies within government to the EXCLUSION of all citizens from politics in time to come.
Some less conscious or less educated people may yet foolishly choose such candidates. If their choice is Nurul Izzah, then by the 10th generation of ANWAR clan, the inclination towards TYRANNY or any incidental TYRANT arising may be nigh impossible to remove, even as former allies in *all other* RESERVED political seats will ensure their own family oligarchs retain power – A SECOND UMNO ARISES. Do you know what you are promoting Martinier?
Men are never principled, especially where power is concerned, and capability is secondary to ethical or conflict of interest preventing mechanisms as detailed above, in the case where the same family is ‘therefore wanted by the people themselves’, that would be the PEOPLE themselevs that lack a sense of ethical awareness as well.
We cannot let such citizens remain uneducated about such things and normalise sequestration and reservation of seat within the family, and must regulate ourselves to PROTECT them, even to the loss of our children’s opportunity to be politicians – simply to PREVENT oligarchy and ALLOW participation of ALL OTHER citizens to be MPs or PMs because we already have had that in our own families.
There will always be many talents in a political party, though some are less ambitious, that Nurul could give way to simply to play CLEAN and enhance, not erode political culture. Try the below for further detail on WHY MP seats should not be reserved by the same family. We love our families but in issues of governance, the only distinction between statesmenship and political animals are ethics and application of the same.
The column that wasn’t – Marina Mahathir – 3rd March 2010

Where someone in power appoints undemocratically a family member or friend to positions of power is no different when the post is sequestered or reserved by ‘right of talent’ as well because while a second liner takes the post, Nurul could still advise from the background and be taken seriously. The number of ‘kingmakers’ and people ‘holding back’ in the party forms much of the strength of a party, if everyopne rushes forward to fight for the post, there will be no love lost in a very short while to come.
Nurul is an elected representative, but compared to other senior Wanita members, she has far less experience, the opinion of many may not be from awareness of the conflict of interest issue and many lesser members themselves are into the nepotism thing assd well, so how can Nurul not set an examole at this point and further entrench the culture of conflict of interest?
She shall not continue to do so at the highest levels if the people desire it without comromising party culture, and neglect of ethical considerations and health of party culture will result in destruction of the party in time to come. Nurul can lead from behind, even if she does not hold the post. But she herself must not hold the post. That is true statemanship and clean political culture.
I would rather YOU ran for candidate Martinier, than Nurul. But again advise that your children in turn do not. Conflict of interest via Oligarchy is not too different from Nepotism as succession of family members still results in POLITICAL DYNASTIES which have plagued Asia since the democt=ratic system arrived here. This trend of weak minded voters who tolerat and embrace flawed ethics must end.

Hi we should have more of such leaders telling to the people . I want to relate a incident which happen yesterday I was in a golf shop buying some stuff 1 young malay girl and a malay boy walked in trying to sell some fitness program The 1st thing they asked was – awak cina atau melayu ( politely though as they want to sell their program to me ) I dont have the “yellow skin and mata sepet la ” But i told them NO neither . I am MALAYSIAN . They looked surprised and while agreeing that I am not orang asing , they still continue to ask if I am malay or cina . Again I answered I AM MALAYSIA – no race !!! Now even the shop assistants looked surprised !! So we really need leaders to tell and educate the rakyat that WE ARE MALAYSIANS and no kaum kaum

Hero worship for this pretty lady is quite apparent on your blog. The road to reform in corrupted Malaysia is long and hard. If all we have among the educated Malays who are honest & fair today is just Nurul + 1 or 2 more ( hopefully not flash in the pan types ) then we may have a small chance at success.
Malays in general are stuck in a severe coconut shell mentality where the propagation of Islam precedes all else, even education and justice. And no religion has been more abused than Islam, including personal choice – a fundamental right of a citizen denied once born , with the faculty for advancement curtailed aka DOA ( dead on arrival)

I may be wrong, but I just simply cannot find any fault with Nurul. She is articulative, she is courageous, she is consistent in whatever she says whether the audience is made of Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans, Bidayuhs, etc but most important of all, she has heart which other politicians lack. Compare her with that Heng woman from MCA, the latter is nothing but trash.

Nurul is surely turning out to be a gem of better lustre than her mom dad. Not that Anwar or Kak Wan are any less precious to Malaysia. But we should be clear that there are thousands of others out there capable of great things, in different ways, towards contributing towards a just Malaysia. THE CAUSE must always be held far above all personalities, as people are intrinsically fallible creatures. Zaid, for instance, should be engaged with a view to streamline THE CAUSE rather than just vilified in the media. If in that process he is discovered to be more Trojan-like, he should be given the boot, like Zul Kulim, for the sake of THE CAUSE. Individuals are dispensible, THE CAUSE isn’t!

The Complaint of Wangsa Baiduri, the Subang Town Park had been handed/sent to the Assemnbly lady and also Ronnie Liu!!
CHANGE had only bring in a DEAD SEA.
Stones throwed just sank and the SEA looks calm!!
The Manipulation of the Project continued with new approval after the Change.Management remains continued with the “illegal” descendants of the invalid AGM, without proper audtied accounts and proper transfer from the Management.
Enaging Management company without AGM and the same agent was taken that had not even provided an audited account during their previous engagement. The Management just relax in ignoring any reply on the accounting, illegality and proper transfer from the Developer for the last 5-6years.
As a lawyer, doesn’t Hanah knows the continue re-approval of Wangsa Baiduri under MPSJ after the change of hand is not according to LAWS? MPSJ had not even reply on why the Management without proper AGM can apply the Green Boundary for extra car park and for sales and the previous enquiry on the Approvals?
There wasn’t any slightly reply since the CHANGE and the hang over of complaint MORE THAN TWO YEARS AGO!!

A lot could be different if they have no Political background to bring to who or where they are today.
I believe LGE will act differently if he is not from the family and Party under LKS. The latter is also because not only LKS is the only decision maker!! KG Bala could have been handled differently if not having some promises by the Indian to the Indians before the last GE.
The problem in Malaysia is even most cannot be Politicans, they have being living their life in a Political way, much away from Rules and Regulations as the latter had never been or rarely be strictly enforced, either morally or adminstratively.
A bank had a few of their CEO changed due to some internal “proceeding”. They get at least 2 with overseas experience, such as from Singapore. Their credit card department bullied clients by “not stoping” a stolen card, but keep posting transactions of dates after the report. Even distpute Forms were filed, late charge and interest continued continued and pressed for payment. While their clerk advised to wait for the investigation, the Department stopped all the cards before investigation and ask for return of all cards inclduing one that was reported stolen 10 years ago and when all payments were paid promptly, except the some RM300 in dispute. When appealed, the Departement was twisting with their Rules and Regulations and staying away from the Clause for Dispute on the monthly statement that the Disputed Amount should be suspended until investigation….when in fact, such transactions after the reported date should not be there as the bank should have stopped the card! The Department dragged the matter for months and the matter was complained to the new CEO. Should the two CEO not knowing that it was a matter of dishonesty, an act of imitiation, a process of loosing Credibity in an industry where creditibly is all about?
One of the CEO sent a brief letter of regret. But the Department dragged on without confirmation what they should have done. Do you think the two CEO have not power to act? Or, they cannot counter the existing “Culture” or the “Poltics” inside? The Card Department is one of the most profitable!! Where can one get at least 18% per annum? and more if they play some tricks, such as the one mentioned above!!
Will the Third Force brings not only the Political change but also the “Cultural” change? I hope we have the Chance to see Malaysia in a society of Rules and Regulations with moralities and NOT simply POLITICAL or even BULLIES!!
Hope to see a Real LGE, Tian Chua or even Hanah!
