Last week, in RPK’s ‘The man behind PKR ( Part 2 )‘, a most startling revelation was made.
“September the 16th of 2008 was supposed to be the day that Pakatan Rakyat takes over the federal government. But to do that Anwar has to first persuade at least 30 Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament to cross over.
Getting 30 Barisan National Members of Parliament to cross over was not that much of a problem. All it needs is money, RM300 million to be exact — to pay each Member of Parliament RM10 million as an ‘inducement’ to cross over. The problem would be: after paying them the RM300 million, which would have to be in advance, of course, how can they be assured that Umno would not up the figure by RM15 million and buy them back?
The bottom line would be: Pakatan Rakyat pays them RM10 million each and Umno also pays them RM15 million. They would receive in total RM25 million each and remain in Barisan Nasional. If they can be bought, then others can also buy them for a higher price. And they will take the higher price without returning the RM10 million you gave them.
John Soh’s bone of contention was that he would be the one who has to pay the RM300 million. If it works, well and fine. But what if it fails, as it did in Perak, and Umno counter-offers these 30 Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament a higher figure? The RM300 million would be money down the drain.
John Soh did not agree to fund the RM300 million take-over-exercise unless Anwar could ensure success. But how could Anwar guarantee success? These were 30 ‘for sale’ Barisan Nasional Members of Parliament they were talking about. If they can sell themselves to one side then they can sell themselves to the other side as well.
John Soh refused to fork out the RM300 million and that ended the September 16th dream to march into Putrajaya. And that also meant Anwar would have to face trial for Sodomy 2. The only way to escape Sodomy 2 would be for Anwar to become the Prime Minister, which was not going to happen now.
For weeks Anwar refused to talk to John Soh. He put the failure of September the 16th squarely on John Soh’s shoulders. When they finally met, Anwar and John Soh had a heated exchange of words. When Anwar said that John Soh was to be blamed for the September 16th failure, John Soh retorted, “If you are so confident it was going to work then why not fund it yourself? Bring back some of the billions you have stashed overseas and pay the RM300 million from your own pocket!”
What troubles me the most is that, to-date, Anwar has not issued a statement to refute this most damaging of allegations.
You may or may not remember but soon after the 12th GE, PKR starting talking about the possibility of BN MPs crossing
On 19th March, 2008, Malaysiakini reported that Anwar had announced that he would form the federal government, aided by defectors from BN, mostly from Sabah and Sarawak.
Two days later, on 21st March, Malaysiakini reported that Anwar insisted that defectors from BN would not be ‘bought’.
Honestly, at the time, I took great comfort in this report.
It meant that I could turn my attention to another concern I had in respect of this much-talked-of crossover of elected representatives : a fraud on the voters.
On 23rd March, I wrote to Anwar seeking the comfort of a statement from him that no BN MPs would be accepted without such MP first getting the consent to crossover from those who voted him into office. That letter may be read in full HERE.
I can confirm now that n0 such statement was ever made by Anwar.
The next day, on 24th March, Malaysiakini reported PKR youth chief Shamsul Iskandar as saying PKR was not offering money to buy over the BN MPs.
“They have come and met (PKR de facto leader) Anwar Ibrahim because they have lost faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. They are not crossing over for monetary gains…If they want to come over, we will accept them but we are against buying them over”, Shamsul is reported to have said.
A month later, Azmin is reported by Malaysiakini to have said that there was no monetary element in the talks with the MPs intent on crossing over from BN to Pakatan.
Fast forward now to 12th September, 2008, when RPK, Teresa Kok and journalist Tan Hoon Cheng were detained under the ISA.
For many of us then, a change of government might be the only hope of an early release.
With this in mind, I and several others accompanied Marina, RPK’s wife, to see Anwar.
He assured us that he had the numbers.
I asked if money was involved.
“Mana ada duit macam tu, Ris”, was the reply.
September 16th came and went.
No change of government.
RPK says in his post that September 16th was never going to happen because John Soh had already decided that he was not going to bankroll this mass crossover. This is how RPK put it :
“For weeks Anwar refused to talk to John Soh. He put the failure of September the 16th squarely on John Soh’s shoulders. When they finally met, Anwar and John Soh had a heated exchange of words. When Anwar said that John Soh was to be blamed for the September 16th failure…”
Yet, the Star reported on 22nd September that Wan Azizah said that more BN MPs were keen to crossover to Pakatan.
The same report quotes the current PKR Sec-gen, Saifudin Nasution, as saying that Pakatan had started its “countdown” for the takeover and things were moving according to plan.
“Our timeline is by the hour. Putrajaya is within reach”, Saifudin is reported as saying.
Is RPK’s post a pack of lies?
Only John Soh or Anwar can tell us.
Unlike John, though, Anwar does not have the luxury of elegant silence in this matter.
He must speak up, and speak up now, or live with the inferences that will otherwise flow.

To your question: “Is RPK’s post a pack of lies?”, my first question refers to RPK’s accompanying reports, in that post, from The Star and and Perak Today, both of which also report that John Soh had financially supported RPK and MT. RPK responded to a comment, in reference to this: “Perak Today is owned by Umno. And I live in Manchester, not London”
So, does this mean that we are expected to accept the Star and Perak Today reports only in reference to the linkages between John Soh, PKR and Anwar and September 16, and disregard the reference to John Soh financially supporting RPK and MT, because Perak Today is owned by UMNO?
Then in another comment on MT:
“Could Super Admin please give us his take on this news? There is also an allegation Mr Soh financed Raja Petra’s stay in London when he fled Malaysia. What say you, Raja Petra?”
The reply from the editor was:
“Editor: Which newspapers did you read that NEWS from?”
My other question then – did you not just post the Star and Perak Today reports that reported this?

Anwar has 2 options, from the way I see it:
1. Speak up and lie through his teeth[ I believe it shall not be the first time]
2. Keep silent and hope Haris & others like him will not bug him too much over this issue!!

I cannot see why Anwar should even bother to respond to RPK. You still don’t get it do you bro?? RPK no longer figures in the Malaysian political landscape! If you are telling me that you haven’t figured that out yet – then you really need to wake up and get real! You are probably the last person on earth who still gives a shit about what RPK has to say. Yes I empathize with all the possible reasons that RPK did what he did etc, but that does not mean I want to listen to his drivel anymore. I stopped reading Malaysia Today after his first interview as did thousands of right thinking Malaysians. After his 2nd interview and your resignation from MCLM … well, that spoke volumes didn’t it? – need I say more?? If MT continues to get hits its only because the dregs of the UMNO ‘community’ have been mobilized to keep MT alive. I doubt if even a minute fraction of the original followers bother to go to the site. As far as I am concerned – Anwar shouldn’t lend RPK any credence by offering a response. RIP RPK!

Anwar does not have to respond to RPK, but he damn well better respond to us voters. Just because you have your panties in a twist for RPK, it does not mean that the rest of the country does. Anwar is answerable, despite the ardent wishes of the unthinkers.

first RPK must provide proof and also this thing 916 did not happen, so there is no money involved. If John S did not want to fund it, do you think DSAI will go ahead if there is money involved??? So I guess this is fairy tale and pig can fly thing.

Right to the point. I stopped reading MT the day this RPK bloke turned and became UMNO/BN friendly. He proved beyond any doubt that he had a price which when met, he was willing to sell his soul to the devil.
Why still talk about the infamous takeover bid. It is part of our political history. Just be focused on ABU. Only a concerted effort of all the components of Pakatan Rakyat and the NGOs who are equally fed up with the UMNOputras and their running dogs in BN would see the ouster of the CORRUPTED AND ARROGANT UMNO/BN.

You need to understand this — Malaysians are so angry with BN now that anything you hurl on DSAI is not going to stick. You will be accused as detracting and trying to derail PR.
Replace BN first, and then clean up.
If you remember some major military successes in history, you need s general to win the war. But a general does not a statesman make. Hope you can read into this passive aggressive hint.

Seen likE Haris has jumped ship holding RPK’s hands.
RPK is now playing 2 sides to make himself valuable by claiming he’s neutral but with a friend like him, who needs enemy.
In a corporate world, if one is being too frined with the competitor, he could be mistaken as a corporate spy and could be sacked for it.Here we have a person who whacked the government and yet claim Dr M is his friend !!
?????? Does that make any sense, in the movie we call that as mole/trojan horse.
Of course RPK always want to win, if one accuse hime of something, he will whack till kingdom come and claim we have narrow mind, Any which way, only he can win

This Rm300 million supposedly to pay off the BN MPs is just a load of bull.
If there is any offer made, Anwar is dead meat. Umno would not have to manufacture sodomy 2. Anwar could be nailed with 30 charges of offering or promising Rm10 mill to each of the BN MPs. If every of the 30 MPs said they were offerred or promised by Anwar either by him or his intermediary, that is enough to send Anwar for good in Sungei Buloh since there will be 30 charges. Nobody will begrudge this sort of conviction if Anwar is sent to jail.
If someone made an offer or a promise to bribe you, this is case where it is very easy for the Macc to nail the culprit. Money need not change hands. Only evidences of offer or promise is sufficient.
It is a load of bull. That is why the Macc had not investigated the case then and if they had investigated found nothing. That Lahad Datu MP Rahman Dahalan dan that Kuala Pilah MP( what’s his name?) had made similar allegations against Anwar that they were offerred or promised to cross over and the cases were investigated by the Macc then. Nothing happened just hogwash. Mind yoy this thing happend when Teresa was ISAed just to frighten off the 30 MPs. Do you think they would not open their mouth.
So, don’t waste your sleep over this baseless allegation. Why should Anwar has to reply? If there is any, any of the 30 MPs should now come out with their story.

Awww Haris, when will you ever change?
What would you have to go through, to make you an informed person, and not a lackey of RPK.
Does Anwar have to respond to each and every allegation against him, especially one made by the fabricator of lies, RPK. The ones’ that matter, think that RPK is on another fishing trip anyway.
Whatever RPK writes is in the public domain, and every individual has his/her right to make up their own minds, whether to believe RPK, or not.
Anwar need not respond to allegations like these, each and every time, someone writes something negative about him.
Or are you trying to make and kiss up with RPK, after your recent falling out? And indeed if you are, you think that by doing this, RPK is going to endear himself to you?
Next you will want Anwar to respond to each and every allegation thrown at him by the UMNO cybertroppers. You are becoming more and more like Rocky, Syed Akbar Ali and Zorro, three of the most spineless bloggers.
There are bigger and more critical issues to be addressed, and yey you choose to waste time with RPK’s allegations. What does that tell you, about yourself?
One, you can’t run on your own steam and you need RPK to mislead and misdirect you, at each stage of your life.
You, like RPK, Zorro, Syed Akbar Ali, Rocky, etc., are a bunch of cowards, and snipers.
As I asked earlier, when will you ever change and be your own man?

Hello brother, my take on this is that it is a waste of time as there is no truth to this at all. RPK is frus…Frus to the hilt….a not so smart spin doctor……. Please move on lah…. Najib tried and still trying his best but cannot lah… they can only go for DSAI on things that cannot be seen like Sodomy and bribery…. Please! Tolonglahl cut it…and move forward! there are bigger challenges waiting for us…. like the election commission, the enforcement agencies!……etc…..

Your take is like RPK’s take. A lot of wild allegations with no substance. We need hard evidence when accusing somebody like John Soh’s statutory declaration that he was asked to form out RM300 million and statutory declarations from the 30 BN’s MPs that they were promised or offered by Abnwar or his emissaries RM10mill to jump ship.
Without hard evidence, no need to talk lahhh.

Another way of determining whether RPK’s story is truth or fiction is to ask the question of whether John Soh has the kind of money bandied about in the article. The speed with which he rose to prominence in both MCA and the corporate world led many to believe back then that he was a proxy for LLS. At the height of his career, he controlled 10 or more public listed companies but his empire was built through a series of paper shuffling exercises and he must have been leveraged to the hilt. Add to this the fact that his pyramid collapsed literally overnight and it is highly unlikely that he could have siphoned out hundreds of million. Unless there is someone behind him?
Frankly at this point in time I am more interested in establishing the connection between all the episodes in RPK’s stories and where the series is leading. I can’t as yet see any common thread, but for RPK to have presented them as numbered episodes, there must no doubt be dots which can be connected.

Was 16th of 2008 crossover failed? The answer was Yes.
Would MPs from BN crossover to PR without getting pay $$$$$? The answer is unlikely.
Who was going to provide funding $$$$$$? It could be John Soh as alleged by RPK or someone else. Someone must come out with huge $$$$$ to buy the crossover!!!!
RPillai
February 22, 2012
If Anwar had billions stashed away, why would he want John Soh to finance RM300 million for the crossover? Can we take this John Soh’s word for it? Why is RPK bringing all this out now when the GE is around the corner?
Harris, you had set out on a mission (ABU) and am sure you can do without these diversions.

Bravo Mr. Tim, so rightly said…”there are bigger and more critical issues to be addressed”..You have thought bravely and positively.
Who’s RPK now, someone who wants to keep his capped head bobbing above water at all times, like you know whp???? sounds familier, doesn’t it.?
Please for once put RPK and his useless tactics behind us…..his greed to have himself personalized.
THROW HIM OUT… and let’s get on with it.. mean to say, to concern ourselves with.the ISSUES that affect us as human beings.
Don’t want to be inhuman….this individual called RPK once wallowed in praise, using his royal bearings to awe and get worshipped by us fools……agree he gave us some gumption…..thank you very much for that feeding. We have grown up now.
We want ABU because of its integrity, its concern for human beings and its growing regard., as a third force…..

The way I see it, RPK has turned out to be nothing but a selfish and arrogant person. RPK has an ego that is bigger than Malaysia, so when he tried to impose his thoughts and will on Anwar and the opposition pact(Pakatan Rakyat), but was again and again turned down, he could not accept it, he was not able to swallow his pride, and he started taking it too personal. But then again, he(RPK) is entitled to say what he wants in the spirit of freedom of expression, but just when GE13 is just around the corner, one has to really question his intentions behind all this.
What is really important now for this country in “CHANGE”. Even if a pig or dog stood for election against an UMNO/bn rep., it is still better to vote for the pig or dog, cause at least we know that the pig or dog, although unable to perform any duties, will be less harmful than an UMNO rep.
This country is desperately in need of the CHECKS & BALANCES, so for that matter, even if I have to vote for a PR rep who has the reputation of being a little thief, I will do it. I will do it not because I am voting blindly, but because I know for a fact that if UMNO becomes THE OPPOSITION PARTY, they will do a very good job policing the Pakatan Rakyat GOVERNMENT, after all who can be the best people to catch thieves other then the biggest thieves themselves(Umno that is). And with such a big thief(Umno), looking out to catch the small thieves in the PR government, I don’t think that that little thief from PR that I voted, will stand a chance at any mischief, without being caught by the Biggest Thieves of all time, UMNO.
Support ABU! Vote For Change! Vote For Checks n Balances!
