Can Pakatan Rakyat which has already got a (mere) foothold in Sarawak & Sabah, avoid exerting its will there in favour of local-based parties? Where Sarawak and Sabah are concerned, will Pakatan Rakyat let local-based parties take the lead and give them full support? Or will Malayan egos continue to make the fatal mistake of taking the locals for granted without really knowing what’s going on in these two countries?

So Haris, are you taking the news that STAR will contest all seats and thus leading to 3 or more corner contest, in positive or negative light? You didn’t append any notes or opinions to the video
ablogsmith,
My thoughts on this in a forthcoming post, bro

Haris,
Listen to the ground, not only your usual sources. 2,000 or 3,000 turnout is a poor indication of support in Penampang/KK.

PR should heed and understand for the sake of the People that the password is Kerjasama. The People are fed up with power……it has taken away the Peoples’ rights, somethings that belong to them, somethings invested in them in a true democracy.
Power is an old fashioned word in terms of today….it is CHANGE that is in vogue. Change for the better, for ALL Malaysians….both in East Malaysia and here in West Malaysia.
Don’t let the People down, PR…….they are asking you to be wise. They are asking you to be earnest.

Pakatan Rakyat should cultivate the local political parties that are anti UMNO/BN. Pakatan Parties especially the PKR should understand that they really do not a strong presence nor do they have grass root support as the political parties in Sabah and Sarawak.
Antagonizing local opposition parties and belittling their leaders by not giving them space in the 13th GE is suicide for the Pakatan Rakyat candidates. Committing political harakiri because of mega egos and posturing to be better statesmen only lets UMNO/BN win hands down.
UMNO/BN uses Sabah and Sarawak as its fixed deposit because being in the political business for a very long time, they have mastered the technique of naming local poodles as their candidates in elections knowing well in advance that they will toe the line.
The local opposition Sabah and Sarawak politicians of today cannot be left out in favour of non-entities in the political landscape. Sabah and Sarawak politicians have begun to question the necessity of politicians from the mainland dictating terms and having the last say in the selection of candidates and the allocation of seats.
If Pakatan Rakyat leaders from PKR, PAS and DAP still insist on bulldozing their political agenda through without consulting the local opposition leaders, the only winner will be UMNO/BN. In any three cornered fights the incumbent party with the strongest political machinery and tons of money cannot be defeated. The UMNO/BN has upped the ante by blatantly buying votes and bribing the voters with goodies and money. They can get away with this, “you help me, I help you” open corruption because the ELECTION COMMISSION is with them all the way to ensure the 13th GE is the mother of all dirty elections.
Can Pakatan Rakyat match UMNO/BN with similar dirty tricks and get away scot-free? Do you have the man power, money and logistics to match UMNO/BN in Sabah and Sarawak? Do you have the EC, PDRM and IMMIGRATION at your beck and call? No, No, NO, you just don’t have them.
Under the circumstances it would be better for OPPOSITION in the whole of Malaysia if they could just set aside their ego, pride and bullish nature for the common good. They should learn the gentle art of statesmanship. They should learn to give and take. They should know that in politics, there are no permanent friends and foes.
Pakatan Rakyat should send respectable leaders from the mainland to negotiate with the local opposition political parties. They should listen and understand local sensitivities first before they can even put forward their points. Above all these pre-election meetings should be held in a friendly and amicable manner without the urge to dominate and dictate.
Sabah and Sarawak may turn out as the Pakatan Rakyat’s fixed deposit if sincerity and mutual respect and common sense prevail.

Well done,JEFFREY KITTINGAN!

I hope Anwar will try to suppress his own ego and not be unreasonable as to deny what Jeffrey Kittingan has explained that since PR has promised autonomy to Sabah then why fight Sabah based opposition parties in their own territory in Sabah? Moreover, the local based opposition parties are more acceptable by the local people with the motivation of “Sabah for Sabahans”, than the outsider colonist Malayans. Unless if the promise is insincere with ulterior motive? Give them this chance – Kali Ini, Abang Anwar, and your intent to take Putrajaya will be made much easier. Hidup Abang Anwar!

Ideologically I am all for Sabahan leaders taking all the state seats. BUT only if they are willing to be subjected to full audit by Federal Govt for accountability to the people of Sabah..I am sceptical not only of the honesty of Sabah leaders but their ability to govern themselves. Lets be honest. Sabah would not have gotten to this state if their leaders have not time and again been foolish, self-serving and weak-willed. The story of Sabah is not simply a betrayal of the Federal power but really their own leaders foolishness.

what if STAR is a trojan horse whereby pakatan gives way to them and then they become BN friendly? think about it! we can’t allow a single party…..don’t put all your eggs in 1 basket.
