“I’m told by the locals, including some of the Muslims, that the lifestyle of the majority in Labuan simply does not favour a PAS candidate.
Notice how in Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur in the 12th GE, of the 11 parliamentary seats there, PAS only contested and won in only 1 seat, that is, Titiwangsa?
Might this have anything to do, however slight, with the lifestyle of a large number of KLites, including those who profess Islam as their faith who, then, at least, might have been more ready to dump BN if the alternative was a non-PAS candidate?” – my thoughts on why the PAS candidate in Labuan in the the last general election lost his deposit, in my “…can we ABUkan Labuan?” post.
Truth is, PAS is a long way from winning over all who profess Islam in this country to their brand of politics and their goals and aspirations.
Have this in mind when you consider PAS Ulama Council chief Harun Taib saying that if PAS emerges from the next elections as the party within the Pakatan Rakyat coalition that wins the largest number of seats, it will amend the constitution to introduce and implement hudud law.
They’ll find new partners outside of the PR coalition, if they have to, so says Harun.
Keep this in mind, too, when you take note of Hadi Awang saying that the constitution will be amended to make ‘adeen’ the way of life in the country.
These are ‘syiok sendiri’ statements.
Verbal masturbation, if you will.
PAS will never be able to form the federal government on its own, much less muster a 2/3 majority in parliament, without forging an alliance with others.
With who?
Tying up with UMNO post 13th GE?
So what?
Every seat that PAS wins will count as a seat lost by UMNO.
Such a merger post the 13th GE will not see a government with a 2/3 majority in parliament that would be required to make the necessary amendments that both Harun and Hadi speak of now.
A PAS+PKR+UMNO unity government post the 13th GE?
We can expect the non-Muslim PKR MPs to abandon the party should its leadership embark on such a back-stabbbing move, can’t we?
Would the non-Muslim BN MPs in Sabah and Sarawak fall in line with such a move?
I think not.
Let’s not deny that PAS will always aspire to forge an Islamic state, whatever that might be.
But I think there are enough good people in this nation, both Muslim and non-Muslim, who will keep vigilant at all times to ensure that Harun’s, Hadi’s and PAS’s dream always remains what it is today.
A wet one.
Let’s not lose sleep or sight of the need to ABU this nation on account of this posturing and self-gratifying talk!

Well, said!! Why Chua Soi Lek likes to dredge this one over and over again I really cannot tell. Maybe he is missing out on Angeline Yam’s services that he needs to self masturbate these days.

Be prepared to be bombarded with more statements like this from senior PAS leaders. My PAS sources are telling me that certain top PAS leaders will show their true face soon (like always when there is an election)!

Why is there this division between man and man, between race and race, culture against culture? Why?
Religions also have divided man, put man against man – the Hindus, the Muslims, the Christians, the Jews, and so on. We have seen these play out between the political parties haven’t we? Why do we have this terrible desire to identify and limit ourselves with a group, with a flag, with a religious ritual, perhaps it gives us the ‘psychological’ feeling that we have roots, a false sense of belonging. Aren’t our society in reality an imaginative social construct in flux , a movement and displacement? Honestly is any Malaysian, from an anthropological point of view, pure? The beauty if one cares to observe, is that our society is flowering into something refreshingly new all the time. Why choke it? Call it the universal love, or whatever but people do mingle and fall for each other and procreate, a healthy process. We see this all over the world, a coming together of humanity into a single ‘Human’ race. Technology will see to that!
Please understand and meditate on the truth of this one universal law:’Division Breeds Conflict’
That’s a singular most important law is required to be understood if humanity is to transcend into intelligent, peaceful, progressive beings.
If we really look into our lives and observe relationship, we see it is a process of building resistance against another, a wall over which we look and observe the other; but we always retain the wall and remain behind it, whether it be a psychological wall, a material wall, an economic wall or a national wall, and we live enclosed because it is much more gratifying, we think it is much more secure. The world is so disruptive, there is so much sorrow, so much pain, war, destruction, misery that we want to escape and live within the walls of security of our own ‘psychological’ being. That is exactly what is happening throughout the world: you remain in your isolation and stretch your hand over the wall, calling it nationalism, partisanship, brotherhood or what you will, but actually sovereign governments, armies, continue. Still clinging to your own limitations, you think you can create world unity, world peace – which is impossible!
So long as you have a false divisive frontier, whether national, partisan, economic, religious, ‘ketuanan’ etc., it is an obvious fact that there cannot be peace in the world. Without peace, death of humanity is inevitable!

Let’s not put the cart in front of the horses…as Muslims it is their duty to safe-guard their religious beliefs but, in a multi-religious country like Malaysia, it is not only unpractical neither is it feasible. Let the Muslims do what they have to do, let the others continue to practice their religions unhindered. We have a very peaceful and accommodating Malaysia until the feral pigs in UMNO headed by the unashamed Indian turned Melayu played the racial and religious issues. Malaysians should be aware of the evil intentions of UMNO and rid these faked Muslims to Najib’s animal farm!

Labuan is an extension of Borneo, like people in Sarawak and Sabah, religion is accepted as a very personal thing. PAS takes a differing view and that irks people in this part of Malaysia.
So no PAS candidates here please. Their ‘totalitarian’ approach on all matters in relation to their professed belief, gives people here the shingles.

The muslims in this country, especially the rich ones are setting too blatant an example at modernity, which is mimicking Westernisms while at the same time trying hard to be holier than thou…ie Muslim. What’s in a name?
People can see and follow. Holidays abroad and not in Malaysia, strong inclinations for Western food, clothes and mannerisms. The fact that one covers one’s head and follows other cultural behavioural attitudes doesn’t make one truly Muslim.
So will there be many takers for PAS’s stupid stance….at wanting the hudud law.
In such a carefree situation, who are the PAS trying to fool. We can be safe and wise with them, even with their wet dreams which are intented to just brand themselves as being truly Islamic.

In the context of Harun and Hadi both stating that they want hudud laws, perhaps these statements might have to be seen in the context of a tactical approach. Their overall strategy is obviously to be part of the winning team in the coming election which will require the full support of most muslims, especially the more devout ones.
Should they openly state that they will renounce hudud, they might lose many of these votes to UMNO which is also playing the field with a similar reigious approach. Knowing that PAS will not get enough seats to form a governmewnt on their own, a good tactical ploy, to retain voter support, might be to make the call to support hudud laws. However, I think, this is just a tactical ploy which will not deter them from the overall strategy, that of defeating UMNO.

I feel sad each time someone say that religions cuases disharmony. If one care to extract the wisdom in the kthab, religion is the only refuge and a permenant end to all manners of suffering
Allow me to use the veda to illustrate.
The World is Maya [ illusionary, with nature of mirage ]
Brahman is REAL
Brahman is the World.
Wihtout insight, there appear to be a paradox.Allow me to point out the profound teaching using a worldly [samsaric] example with a mirror.
The world that appear on the face of the mirror are just relections [illusions]
The mirror is REAL
The mirror is the relections [as one and beyond seperation]
This is semilar to all things [reflections] come from Allah [mirror] and all things [reflections] return to Allah [mirror]
In Buddhism,we say all things have the same buddha nature as its essence. The relections are all in essence the ‘reflectivity’ of the mirror. It is also stated that all forms from appearence, sound, odour, taste, sensation and thoughts are illusionary [heart sutra]
Our Ignorence arise when we assume the illusions to be real and we even identify with the illusionary charecters as mr amd ms so and so.We Ignore the reality of our True identy as the formless bordeless AWARENESS [which is the Seer,Hearer.Knower,The one Witness for all that appear from gross appearances to subtle toughts and emotions ]
When we view things from our True Identity as the abosolute ‘I’ [ Anal hak ], it is Like the mirror
the ‘I’ remain unperturb with the conditions of the world [relections].As most of us identify with the Images within Awareness, the probelms of the world seem real.As the insight to our true nature is not yet grasp, the kithab reduce the suffering for those who still identified with the bodies ,by advocating surrendering to what unfold [Islam in Arabic] with a further advice that thou should have no images before me.This pointers is to take you away from the object [refection] in Awareness to Awareness [mirror] itself. We must use the Objects[reflection] seen to remind us as already being the SEER [mirror] The turn around from objects seen to the subject seer is what most kithab refer to as to Repent [ Latin for turnaround ]
When we know we come from one source and share one essece,we realised TAWHID .Compassion and unconditional Love become natural and not adhering to a certain precept like love Thy neighbour as Thyself .For you and and your neighbour are indeed the ONE self without any apparent seperation.
We have finally return home like the prodigal son taking himself to be a person and fianlly REALies he is and had always been one with GOD,the omni present awareness.
In buddism the word buddha is awaken [in sanskrit] One awake from the dream of the world and Identify with the dreamer [Awareness] One no longer identify with the dream character. As with dream the story unfold leaving the dream characters helpless to the outcome irregardless of his effort. So the muslim are advice to surrender as all being the will of God

PAS has always been an enigma for me.
I have difficulties reconciling my great admiration for Nik Aziz as a politician and a person versus the radical fundamentalist nature of his organisation.
I am probably mistaken here but the demands by PAS usually seem to be an opt-in condition only – you don’t even get Hobson’s choice!!!
I do understand the good intentions behind the political ambitions of PAS but I worry that PAS may not realise that the road to Hell is paved with many a good intention.

I think more to the point is that there are significant people in PAS that feel the need of the political expediency of raising the Hudud issue. The issue is how PAS feel under pressured. Like it or not a strained or fragmented PAS can cause PR to fail to get to Putrajaya. Once in Putrajaya its not easy for PAS to break off and ‘acquire’ UMNO which is what the ‘Hudud’ crowd think they will do. So long as PR is honest to accord Sarawak & Sabah their due right under the Malaysia agreement, it will never happen this Hudud thing they want to do.

Even if they were to obtain two third majority, they would still not be able to make such a major change to our constitution as it would violate the rights of the others who are against Islamic laws being implemented. I believe many Muslims are also against such a change; what about the Non-Muslims as well as East Malaysians who have agreed to join Malaysia under Secular Laws?
PAS should just concentrate on implementing fair and just laws based on universal principles which should also be considered Islamic too. Why bring up such Islamic issues now and then and create such uneasiness? Not very smart of them to do so.

A few PAS leaders always get the fact wrong. Why are they so keen on Islamic laws when they cannot get 2/3 majority of votes to change the constitution?
MCA leaders are figure-blind too!
