On Monday 7th January, 2013 the website Malaysia Chronicle and several others reported that a pro-UMNO blogger had apologized to YB Khalid Samad, Shah Alam MP, and agreed to pay costs in the defamation suit brought against him for putting up a caricature of YB Khalid Samad holding a crucifix on a January 15, 2010, blog post titled “Penjarakan Khalid Bishop Samad” (“Jail Khalid Bishop Samad”).
This is his apology that appeared in his blog, as was required by the terms of the out-of-Court settlement.
Just who is this blogger, Dr Novandri Hasan Basri? He is a member of the Bukit Gelugor Umno division and has held position as its Vice-Chairman and also as its Chairman and also goes by the blog name of DR MiM.
Remember the false accusations of sexual harassment made against YAB Lim Guan Eng’s son previously? This Dr Novandri Hasan Basri was involved in defaming him too. It was reported that he had claimed that the Penang Chief Minister’s son had assaulted a 16-year-old schoolmate and tried to escape punishment by using his father’s name.
Later it was established that a girl whose photograph was used was identified as 21-year-old chess Grandmaster Anya Sun Corke, who represents England in chess, has no ties with Penang and has never been a classmate of Lim’s son as alleged. They took her picture from a website, deleted the chessboard and then claimed that this was the girl Lim Guan End’s son was supposed to have assaulted.

Who then is this UMNO hotshot who lies, slanders and has no qualms doctoring or using doctored pictures?

These are the kind of leaders that we find in UMNO— those who have no qualms in lying and slandering others. Even in doctoring or using doctored pictures to further their lies. Men who the rank and file of UMNO have chosen to be their leaders.
Are we to be led by such men? Are we to entrust our future and that of our children in their hands? Or are we to tell them, “Depart from us, ye that work iniquity”? The choice is ours.
It is high time that we ‘ABU’ this nation and tell them “Be gone from us and never return”. We have our chance to do so this Saturday, 12th January, 2013.

In 1957, just before I took my Form 5 Cambridge School Certificate examination, I stood on a padang, proud as hell thinking that finally, finally, we would be growing our own green, green, grass of home.
Sadly, I was mistaken, for that expected freedom was dashed by a long series of crass, materialistic politicians who served nobody except themselves and their cronies. And I felt ashamed of what my country had become.
Yet, yesterday, thousands upon thousands of my fellow citizens stood on that same padang, proudly proclaiming that the initial dream still lives on. I am now in my Seventies but I now know that the grass is still green, old chap, AND IT IS STILL GROWING. I heard it growing all day yesterday, and for the first time in a long, long while, felt proud of my country, and my countrymen!!
