We are with you and RPK, Haris – karo ya maro.

He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother
The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I’m strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother
So on we go
His welfare is my concern
No burden is he to bear
We’ll get there
For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother
If I’m laden at all
I’m laden with sadness
That everyone’s heart
Isn’t filled with the gladness
Of love for one another
It’s a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we’re on the way to there
Why not share
And the load
Doesn’t weigh me down at all
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother
He’s my brother
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother…

Yo, please, please, please, make this a weekly affair, please.
If RPK and family and dole out so much for us, what the heck are we doing this at our leisure.
Please, please, please, its our duty, our indebtment and our consciences.
Dun just wear your tees when you gather, wear it everyday.
Create an awareness to non netizens. I wear mine whereever I goes, call me mad if you want, but what madness have I compared to RPK.
So, wear your tees people.

Eventhough we are overseas we will be with you in thoughts & prayers for a noble cause.REFORMASI.
What irony & injustice-the Murderers of Altantuya are free whilst good people like Raja Petra & Hindraf Leaders are jailed for fighting for TRUTH,JUSTICE & FREEDOM for all Malaysians .

Dear brother Haris & fellow comrades,
I would really love to be there with you folks…however, I’m flying off to China for my biz trip later this morning.
Would you guys be a darling and light some candles for me & our comrades in China ? It would be awesome if you could do that and post a picture on your blog so that I can show our Chinese/ Malaysian brothers that we have been represented.
Much obliged and see you all real soon.
We love, adore & salute you all, fellow anak2 Bangsa Malaysia !

Hmm. We should keep red candles on for our bros in China. There is a Chinese character/saying called ‘red man’ that refers to a prisoner of conscience. is anyone familiar with this – as i’m not too sure of the exact details ??
am v glad that PJ comes alive tonight. for everyone who couldn’t go to the Sessions court, lets make it good this time!
it must be rewarding to have a way to measure the effects of your words via this blog, and after all these years especially as a lawyer you’ve surely learned to filter out the BS.
Peace be with you Haris…

Hi Harris, first I must thank you for having The Hollies’ video on your blog. In fact, I have been emailing my friends this particular video clips to all my friends who are staunch support of Pete since the last two months, and many replied that it was aptly dedicated.
However, just a suggestion, to make our support for Pete more impactful, what do you think if we were to organise a live concert, with music performance by his supporters. We can have it in the likes of “Woodstock” and anyone who can play an instrument or sing a song will be welcome to participate on the stage. However the music and songs must be related to the event at hand. This concert can be extended in support of our five HINDRAF brothers currently also held under ISA. The venue, I propose, none other than the Merdeka Stadium – FREEDOM, INDEPENDENCE. It has an open arena for the fans to mingle around freely and sing along with the artistes. I am a musician from the 60s & 70s and I strongly believe such an event can in one way drive the message home, rather than just having silent candle vigil which the police are now getting immune to it.
Songs that can be sung on that night – FREEDOM NITE, are :
1. The times they are a’changing
2. Try a little kindness
3. We shall not be moved
4. Blowing in the wind
and of course, He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother. There are many many more but the above four are just samples of getting the crowd to sing along. Listening and singing to these protest songs again kind of rejuvenate my spirit all over again.
Billy,
I love your idea and the selection of songs.
Its on the agenda. Will look into it.
No promises, tho.

I hope the candle light vigil in Penang and PJ will keep on going until RPK and the other ISA detainees are released. There was candle light vigils in Penang a few Friday nights ago and I have never been able to attend one yet due to travel although I have bought myself 3 RPK t-shirts.. I wore one in PJ yesterday I told myself I must make it this coming Friday night at Dewan Sri Pinang. Pls continue holding the candle light vigils so that people who missed and want to participate can do it when they return from their travels. After all… it is all for a good course and for the man who spare his life fighting for the rakyats and our future generations. God bless RPK and all the good people out there who are fighting for the same course.

Photos from Anti-ISA Candle-light Vigil in PJ, 12th October – FREE RPK
http://iwfrpk.blogspot.com/2008/10/anti-isa-candlelight-vigil-oct-12.html
From tonight onwards, Team RPK said there will be an Anti-ISA Candle-light Vigil at the padang behind A&W, next to Taman Jaya Putra LRT, starting 8pm. More and more people are starting to come and support RPK and all the ISA detainees. Even the cars passing by horn loudly to give their support. Come with a friend next Sunday, it’s a peaceful gathering of Malaysians who believe in a free and democratic Malaysia.

Yeah!!! Billy!! i strongly support your idea of a Freedom Concert. Many talented performers and celebrities will (or won’t they??) come forward to lend their voices (literally!!) for a worthy cause such as this. Instead of using violence, we do it the lawful, peaceful way but with a united voice. We can choose a significant date…31 Dec 08 or 1 Jan 09 perhaps? … to allow Malaysians to come together to make a difference, instead of wasting their time, energy and money in the pubs or on New Year bashes. This reminds me of Bob Geldorf when he had the idea to do something for the starving in Africa, he made a few calls and the whole drama started unfolding magnificently. Why?? Cos it’s a worthy cause and our brother RPK and those still in detention are worth every ounce of our energy combined. Bro Haris, I know it’s not a simple call but it can be done. AND YOU WON’T BE ALONE.
Sen Zen,
31 Dec 08 or 1 Jan 09 too far off.

Agreed, Bro Haris. I thought such an event would need more time to organise. Good, the sooner the better. Shall await more details on this.
Meanwhile I shall make it to next week’s candlelight vigil.

Hi Sen Zen, thank you for seconding me on the Freedom Nite idea. Come on Bro Harris, if Dec or Jan is too far off, then let’s do it in November. Lets bring the roof down. During the 2nd World War, the late Sir Winston Churchill in developing the Home Guards, told the nation, anyone who can carry a gun, let him come forward in defense of his country. In our case, anyone who can sing or play an instrument, let him/her come forward in defense of freedom. Thousands from all corners of the country will converge at the stadium and this is one shindig UMNO will never forget. It will be so loud that Pete and our five HINDRAF brothers can even hear the music from Kamunting. Dare we hope that such an event can take place?

The people came… and kept on coming… and soon the seats were filled… standing room only. The familiar No To ISA and I Am With RPK t-shirts were everywhere! It has been orderly and peaceful. The men in blue were aplenty, but they couldn’t find any reason to raise their batons, yet they were cautious and alert all the same.
The lights were dimmed, a spotlight lit the stage,… and Freedom Nite became a reality.
The message was delivered, hearts were touched, more Malaysians were aware of the stark reality facing them… also more T-shirts were sold!!
Oh well… I was just, uhmm how would you put it… visioning??
I’ve done some more research:
Sing A Song Of Freedom
You’ve Got A Friend
You’ll Never Walk Alone
Power To The People
Power To All Our Friends
Stand By Me
That’s What Friends Are For
Born Free
Count On Me
