Did you know that IGP Musa was due to retire in 2007?
Then, on 14th September that year, Pak Lah threw him a lifeline and extended his appointment by contract.
For two years.
That would run out on 13th September this year.
I hear, though, that Musa’s lobbying for an extension of his contract.
Presumably for another year.
And I hear that a decision is due to be made by the powers that be next week whether to keep Musa or to get someone else to do the job.
I know that no-one in the present administration gives a toss about what the public want but, for what it’s worth, I thought you might want to register your views on this question.
This poll will run until middle of next week.

I seriously doubt if even a Tun-ship provides immunity to culpable homicide as a result of professional negligence.
Kugan’s case immediately comes to mind but there are far too many ‘no inquest’ incidences if we really want to open up that can of worms.
Awarding such a title to MH will be an abomination on our past real uniformed heroes. For example, would the BN government dare taint the names of previous recipients of the SPGP with the likes of MH?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seri_Pahlawan_Gagah_Perkasa
However, if we’re talking about the ‘lower class’ awards i.e. SMNs and SSMs, MH might be in good company.

I will not bat an eyelid to predict that Musa Hassan’s tenure will be extended. Najib is not the one who controls the police. In fact it’s the other way round. The police are the protectors of Najib’s secrets and if Najib were to stop their excesses, then you would find mysterious leaks about the (apanama?) Mongolian case gushing out into the open. Would Najib risks it?
Technically, we are now living in a police state. The police has the blank cheque to go amok as they please and Najib cannot do anything about it. The whole country is now screwed up real good.
Yesterday Najib said he was shocked that 3 men were chained up like dogs in an Ah Long’s dungeon.
The Ah Long menace came into being because of one big policy blunder by the government. The obsession to create a few giant banks and to kill off all the small and medium banks so as to compete with the big boys in the world’s banking firmament have led to untold miseries to the public. The big banks are not interested in giving loans to small time businesses but only to concentrate on speculative types of exotic financial instruments and to enslave many by giving out credit cards indiscriminately even to those who are not qualified for it.
With speculative and exotic financial products and credit cards being the main focus of banks nowadays, traditional functions of banking took the back seat.
In America and many advanced countries the investment banks and hedge funds have been raking in obscene profits from speculative and exotic types of financial instruments for a number of years. Conventional banking were salivating at the prospect of unheard of profits if they too were to involve themselves in this type of new business opportunities. So the US government were pressured to liberalize the banking industry so that they can take part in all types of financial business which formerly were clearly demarcated. When everyone wants to become a Goldman Sach or a JP Morgan then trouble begins to rear its ugly head.
Our Malaysian government also wanted our banks to be the big boys of international banking and so the process started first with Bank Negara speculating in the currency market and got badly burnt with a RM20 billion loss. Alongside with this followed the consolidation of the banking industry. But luckily we went in late in this game and have not gone deeply yet. If we have started earlier our banking industry would be involved with all the nonsense that have been bedeviling the American banks and be hit hard and be decimated in the current global financial meltdown.
The nature of speculative type of banking activities and credit card businesses are very risky. In the credit card business, banks have to face a lot of frauds and how do they cover themselves from this risk? Of course, the customers of the banks have to pay for it. The banks begin to charge exorbitant fees for mundane services that were considered gratuitous a few years back. Now even a request for a form letter would set you back at RM300–RM500. This was unheard 15 years ago.
When small-time businesses were not being entertained by the big banks they have to turn to the Ah Long for survival. It is not a secret that the Ah Long business is a veritable gold mine and that many licensed money dealers with political and underworld links are deeply involved in the Ah Long business. Even large respectable banks are taking on the characteristics of an Ah Long business. This is a dog-eat-dog world of greedy politicians, business and underworld connections. Know you that the problem of the Ah Long menace will not go away because of powerful vested interests.
The next big financial mess will involve the credit card business. Just wait and see.

There are others who are more capable and more tolerate to be IGP. Let him pension off so that he can lament wahat he has done during his service. Those who will be pension off would not be allowed to do contract service because they are many others who are qualify are jobless which result many ill feeling and not satisfy with the government becauce thousands of graduate are jobless now and they will create trouble to convey their unsatisfication. Don’t be so greedy for ownself alone and don’t care about others. Many high ranking goverment servants become directors of private limited company and GLC with high income annualy. What about others without any income at all. Would the government care about them. Many of this private limited company have high income annually and the directors benefited from it. Carefully think and ponder about this. Let us hope for the better future of Malaysia.

We have had some outstanding IGPs in the past. This one is, unfortunately, not there amongst the great. A disappointment to say the least.
Did not that head of O & G Advertising firm when he visited Malaysia many years ago made a trite observation? When you recruit and appoint “giants” – people better than you in different ways – you create a land of “giants”. However, if you are insecure and fear subordinates are better than you and worry they may grab your chair of power, you recuit and appoint “dwarves”, you create a land of “dwarves”. And it becomes an ever diminishing empire and the “dwarves” you appoint will in turn appoint “dwarves” smaller than themselves.”
This is what UMNO has become and doing to our country Malaysia. We are going downhill. To third world, then fourth world if change is not achieved at the next national Poll.

It’s always the public, the public. We are in this unsecured, scary state because it’s the police. Police are not doing their jobs. We hope tne Police Force would care for the safety of Malaysia and its citizen and they were paid from the people’s money and work for the people not for some individuals. Malaysian citizen should be protected and their safety should be secure.

Musa is one of great IGP the country ever had. I hope, his service will be extended until Anwar Ibrahim case is mentioned in the trial. I dont judge his service based on accusations.

If the contract is extended, for whatever reasons, it shows that the BN govt is still not learning from their mistakes which led to their disastrous performance in the past GE.
If BN want to change for the better, change the IGP, the AG and all those unprofessional Govt servants; and change them now!
But, what the hell, the longer they keep them the more people will hate the govt.

banner diatas terpampang ditepi LDP (dekat simpang masuk ttdi) sehari selepas diumumkan MH sebagai KP – whoever put-up this banner knows it well in advance, no?
saya salah seorang yang “tadak clue” what it means; come back in the afternoon, the banner was gone..

kim,
the intellectually challenged IGP expects the robbers to be immobile so that they can be apprehended easily. just like manhandling the representatives from the opposition.
by the way, he is going to get his PHD soon, which is permanent head damage.
ask RPK whats this rogue’s connection with the underworld!

apolitical,
i cant disagree with you if his KPI is measured by growth in crime rate!
and also the number of sedition charges against the opposition members.
of course, overseeing the infamous act of dragging the Perak speaker out of the august house.
hmm, surely you are right, apolitical.

I like what was pointed out by Tongkat Pak Ali above. Local council elections were , if I am not mistaken, part of the manifesto of the opposition coalition in the 1990 general elections. Well, PAS has been ruling Kelantan all these years after winning in that GE. What happened to the local council elections? Is there some valid reason why this has not been done, some federal blockade of the law?
If we want immediate improvement in our daily lives we need to revamp and stop the triad mentality of the local councils. Even if local council elections see low turnout-like in Britain- that does not stop them from having them.
As for the IGP, why is he still around?

Yes he should continue to serve.
See how useful his workplace is for Malaysians of different faiths.
This was picked up from Anil Netto’s blog.
“Fr Jean Claude have been called in by the police for an ‘interview’ at the Triang police station tomorrow, Friday (22/5/2009)… Allegedly the instructions come from the Inspector General of Police (IGP)..
Last Sunday at 4pm, there was a special mass (prayer service) at the St John’s Chapel in Triang, i.e. that 83 year old chapel, that the Pahang Government is threatening to demolish.
Lots of yellow coloured St John’s Chapel parishioners were there, and there were many more persons that came from other churches around the country to show solidarity.
After mass, there was food and drinks served, and a little talk by me on Freedom of Religion.
Now, the police has called in the Parish Priest, Fr Jean Claude Lourdes, for questioning tomorrow.
What are the police doing? Trying to put some psychological pressure to stop this desparate attempt by this community to save their 83-year old chapel? I wonder..
Fr Jean Claude said that he will be going in to the Triang police station at 2-30pm tomorrow (22/5/2009).
Why is this old chapel being targetted for destruction suddenly…something is amiss.
Is there some corruption involved? Maybe the anti-corruption body need to just investigate to be sure…
Or, is it just some form of ‘punishment’ being meted out to the Catholic community in Triang? Why? Because of the problems that the Catholic Church been causing – i.e. that Allah case, the conversion and religious rights issues..
Maybe, it is because the church sits in that odd seat that has repeatedly elected a DAP ADUN – but then the MP, is BN Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob…
Najib is from the Pekan Constituency, adjacent to the Bera Constituency, and I believe our new PM should step in and ensure the continued existence of this little chapel which has served the Triang community as shelter during bad times…”

IGP on contract? So what if his contract is not renewed? What can he do? Probably, he will come out of PDRM and organize his own “kongsi gelap” consisting of ex-police personnel. After all, they know the inside out of the operations of Kongsi Gelap!

YES, HE SHOULD CONTINUE.
SO THAT POLICE REPORTS BY ORDINARY PEOPLE CAN SLEEP WITHOUT INVESTIGATION. THEREFORE KUP & AG DO NOT HAVE TO FOLLOW UP CASES FILED BY THE PEOPLE!! MAY BE THIS WILL HELP TO CUT THE SIZE OF POLICE, KUP & AG!!
IN A LAWYER CHEATING & ASSAULTING CLIENTS CASE, THE POLICE HAD NOT FINISHED WITNESS STATEMENTS WITH THE STAFFS, FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE LAWYER, CLIENTS AND NEIGHBORS AFTER MORE THAN ONE YEAR!!
IN ANOTHER CHEATING AND CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION CASE, THE POLICE DID NOT TAKE STATEMENT FROM THE VICTIM AFTER THE POLICE REPORT BUT SIMPLY TOLD THE VICTIM TO REFER TO MAGISTRATE. SO CASE CLOSED!! SO THE POLICE HAD DECIDED FOR THE KUP OR AG!!
IT SEEMS THAT THEY DO NOT NEED TO STICK TO CRIMINAL PROCEDURES CODES AND PENAL CODES. THEY HELP TO SAVE THE COPIES OF BOTH CODES!!
ANY OTHER “CONTRIBUTION” WORTH MENTIONING?

They say we malaysians always forget the bad things/corruptions alegations/scandals that BN/UMNO and its members have committed over time. Hence, I think it is about time that a malaysian blogger list down the allegation/scandals etc in his website or a unique. This is so that the rakyat will always remember and never forget. When it is time to cast our votes in the next GE on 2013, the rakyat can be redirected to this link to refresh their memory.

MH removed:
Najib’s rating will climb up and will receive praises from the public.
MH Retained/extended:
More police brutability and more hatred towards Najib and BN/imno
Pick your Choice above.
Tempo of dissatisfaction and hatred should continue and risen to a level contributing to their defeat in the next GE.

“for what its worth …??” Err … you correctly said that no one in this administration would give a toss … so what is it worth??
I really don’t give a toss whether he stays or goes – he will only be replaced by another sycophant of abominable proportions … so whats the diff…??
I really don’t mean to sound morbid or callous … but for me, I am just hoping enough BN reps will keep dropping dead till the next general elections so that we can keep the momentum going with bye-elections!! For now – who cares if its Musa Hassan or some other nutter!

the policemen wish his contract will not be renewed cos if he goes, 20 others in the police force will move up in a promotion.
Now look at the crime rate and the Kugan case and the mass arrest lately, all this shows that he has to go. and the IGP is man who thinks if you complaint or make a fuss, you are actually bringing shame to the country. He rather things are swept under the carpet. a thinking like this is not good. why hide? imagine if all things are swept under the carpet. He thinks Thailand etc do not make a fuss and the national feeling there is stronger. I think we all love our country and we want it to be better and we rather face the issues than hide them. Our love for the country is no less than the IGP.

The one and only one police top brass who testified in the 1998 DSAI’s case who claimed that he would lie (in order to frame DSAI)if he was instructed by his superior, in that time, MAMAK KUTTY of course.
So, how much dirty works has he done?
How many lies has he said?
How many people has he cheated? (countless?)
Lastly, how much damage has he done to this country?
