Yesterday morning, about 15 civil society volunteers descended on Kuala Kubu Baru town to help with a door-to-door campaign to share with voters our thoughts on why, come the 13th GE, we must do everything within our means to rid this nation of the scourge that has plagued us for the last 40 years : BN.
Our message to the voters : let Hulu Selangor be the start of the second tsunami culminating in the 13th GE.
Armed with some printed material and CDs entitled “DNBN – Kuburkan BN” and in groups of 3-5, they hit the streets.
Within half an hour, one group was intercepted by the special branch.
I went over.
The police ifficer was viewing the CD.
He asserted that it violated section 4A of the Election Offences Act, 1958.
I said that I did not share his view.
You can view the CD, in two parts, below, and make up your own mind on this question.
To make a long story short, three were arrested for distributing the CD and released later after having had their statements taken. They are expected to appear at the IPD, Kuala Kubu Baru on 3rd May at which time they will be told if they will be charged for any offence. You can read more about this HERE.
The CD is a civil society effort to better inform a large segment of the population who, courtesy of a dishonest mainstream media, are blissfully kept in the dark about the atrocities that have been perpetrated by the leaders of BN generally and, more particularly, UMNO, and their cronies, over the years.
Is there some law on our statute books that makes informing the rakyat the truth about what is happening to their own country an offence?
If so, I am reminded and inspired by the words of wisdom of an old sage : If the law is bad, break it.

Always amazing to see the Malaysian Police having so much free time on their hands and being so fast to react on such non-criminal acts.
I am sure actual crime victims are truly astonished. Always remember: cekap, amanah dan bersih for sure!

“We, the educated ones, are convinced. The problem is how are you going to convince the uneducated and the rural ones who have no access to the truth.”
Yg ni langsung takde kaitan dengan pendidikan.
Don’t ever forget in the other camp they got people graduated from the OXFORD UNIVERSITY sum moar!
So education or not should not become the deterministic factor.
What really makes a difference is whether one is willing to seek TRUTH.
The UMNO / BN camp is filled with all sorts of lies. So much lies that they don’t know what TRUTH is anymore.
If a voter wants truth, and he or she is willing to seek it out, the voter will give PR a chance.
But if that voter does not care about truth, no matter how we tell him or her, he or she will still vote for UMNO / BN.
Malaysia has been under that dark cloud of lies for the past 52 years. It depends on whether there is a will for truth amongst the people of Malaysia to have a chance to break up those dark clouds of lies that is withering Malaysia.

Salaam all viewers,
After having digested all the info/news/updates during all my living years till now, it is still my believe and Harapan Baru to pray for Victory to Pakatan Rakyat = PAS,PKR & DAP Alliance, be it this by-election Parliment at Hulu Selangor, at Sibu or in the coming 13th General Elections. For a better future Malaysia, of the Rakyat, by the Rakyat and for the Rakyat, basically, that is the essence of a Democratic System of Governance.

Reinforced intimidation, as is usually the case with the BN government, using the election campaign at Hulu Selangor as backdrop, to get itself noticed as to how powerful and self interested the ruling party is.
This sort of falsehood is slowly but surely catching the imagination of the ra’ayat.
Anyway, by and large, the people are waiting impatiently for GE13 in order to show their strength and their belief in democracy…and that is what the vote is all about to give the voter the power to vote wisely.
Hulu Selangor is being mercilessly used to frighten the people. The people should concentrate on the real issues and not get carried away by the dirty tactics of the BN government to blot out what is the TRUTH.
And Hulu Selangor is one rife situation where they think they can hoodwink the ra’ayat.
We ought not to allow ourselves to be sidetracked into this personality battle that they are trying to wage in order to distract the people.
We ought to remain wise voters….

I had checked with Deputy Princinpal in Olympia College KL Malaysia, Tel: 03-7770 5555, he said Olympia never offer course for Barchalor of Mass Communication.
From now on, PR should use this issue to tell the Hulu Selangor voters the BN Candidate -P Kamalanathan had make a big lie even before being elected as a MP, can they imagine how if this guy get elected?
It will be a nightware for the voters in Hulu Selangor.

Hi Haris,
I’ve viewed the videos and unfortunately, I believe it has contradicted with your statement below.
“Is there some law on our statute books that makes informing the rakyat the truth about what is happening to their own country an offence?”
The 2 videos contain mass elements of propaganda that does not serve to educate, but more to influence. Some of them are accurate but some of them are also very misleading.
Images of Mukhriz’s mansion put next to shacks with the caption “pondok-pondok pengundi Jerlun?” is not only dirty, but also leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The Home Ministers speech is twisted by the caption used to indicate he supported the cor head act when he did not actually say it. These tactics are not unlike what I’m used to seeing from UMNO.
If you are serious about wanting a change for a transparent governance, then you cannot endorse this video as it contains misleading, propaganda contents.
Consider refilming the video, placing only facts and figures. Include also comparison factors (eg. mansion of UMNO leaders vs mansion of PKR leaders) in a fair, on scale manner.
Then let the audience decide. That is what education is all about.

Do you know what the PKR banners say?
“The Chinese and the Indians must be grateful to the Malays for granting them citizenship” – Nor Omar.
Yes, Bruder Haris, it came from Nor Omar, of UMNO.

Brother, when will the IPCMC be set up? This is the promise made by BN and former PM? Have the voters in Hulu Selangor forgotten this?
By the way, “Check it Out” is correct in saying that it is the will to change, not education. BN has no political will to change and they are forever racists in that sense because they will never change. If the voters don’t want to vote PR, it is ok, up to them. We are fed up of this kind of attitude. At the end of the day, these voters and their generations will suffer the worst, the Law of Karma dictates this. They have only themselves to be blamed for transforming this country into a Banana State.

Zaid is going around telling people to reject bribes i.e., the vote buying of Najib. I think Najib just put all his eggs in one basket. The message going out now should be that Najib has killed his New Economic Model and endorses rent-seeker. Come GE 13, the warlords like Ahmad Ismail and Perkasa will do the same and demand to be paid back TWICE OVER..
Najib has no choice but to push through GST, 1,000 Traffic fines, higher toll, higher electricty, higher water and higher petrol prices etc..OR the markets will tank. What BN gives, it will take back later.

Bang Haris,
You are the lawyer and I need to ask you some questions:
Najib went to Chinese new villages in Hulu Selangor and told the residence there if BN wins he will deposit RM 3 Million into the account of the Board of Directors of the local Chinese vernacular primary school.
I need to know, Bang Haris, if Najib has violated the law?
I mean, it’s a RM 3 Million bribe – with string attached. If BN wins, the Chinese school will get RM 3 Million, if BN loses, the Chinese school will get nothing.
Isn’t vote buying a crime, Bang Haris ??

PKR is lucky to have minimised the loss to 1,725 votes, which represents only 3.6% of the total votes. Apart from the monetary handouts that were conditional on voters voting for BN, which could have swung 1,000 votes or 2% to BN, I can find some solid reasons why PKR and Zaid could not convincingly swing the voters in their favour:
1. Constant harping on the APCO issue by Anwar Ibrahim. It is not relevant to Hulu Selangor and also the nation although a case can be made that the US$23m is tax payers money. It is as if Anwar and the PR coaltion were waiting for a big fish issue to drop from the sky for them to raise up as an election issue.
2. When you want to win rural votes, be careful to select someone they can identify with. Zaid is more of an urban success story. If he was a kampung boy to riches story, there was little meat to chew on.
3. PKR did not respond strongly to the character assasination of drinking alcohol. So what if Hishmamuddin or other members of cabinet drank in the past? They are not standing for election in Hulu Selangorlah.
3. The New Economic Model, even if it is a PR ploy, was good PR for BN. The Opposition could not counter with a simple counter punch but instead responded with several disagreements with the thick report. Fence sitters throughout the nation are still waiting for the NEM Part II and may be willing to give the benefit of the doubt until then.
4. As far as the Indian voters were concerned, Kamalanathan was the underdog (overlooked by Samy, mocked by the Opposition for kissing hands, etc). The truth about his university degree is also contentious and inconclusive
5. Is the name of the game among Islamic conservatives still: who is a better Jew basher? Anwar seemed to have gone overboard by calling the head of APCO a Jew. Wonder what the Christian Malaysians thought about that when majority of them love the Jewish people. We know that God hates and judges countries that condemn the nation/people He loves.
whitherPKR
April 26, 2010
Let’s face it. PKR is not a house that is in order. A leader in the dock for alleged buttocks invasion. Resignations and defections, at one time every week or so. Get rid of BN? I like the idea but you fellas can see Najib is nowhere near a downslope. I fear PKR will suffer a great deal more.

Whither PKR & Election analyst, loss purely an atrribute of Zaid.
For he admitted to owning something like four race-horses, insisted that he did not gamble but cleverly evaded the part about winnings from his horses. He even went on to justify his fondness for race-horses by saying that many Muslims elsewhere too own race-horses.
This, I thought, wasn’t such a smart and wise justification because it was simply a case of two wrongs making a right.

Whatever, I read and hear, I do not see PKR keeping the momentum they used to have. I know BN sucks in a way but, what if PKR becomes the next goverment? DAP have their own stand, PR their own and the trouble creator…PAS. I really wonder if PAS starts putting rules, it would jeopardise everything because for PAS, they are looking everything in religion, not mankind and developement. Been to the Kelantan? It very simple, I will definitely support PR if PAS is out! Even my Malay friends dont support PAS…they are afraid of what PAS might do.

Salaam to All contributors to this website,
PAS is not a religion, it is a political party, also with pitfalls and setbacks, and so are with the other political parties in Pakatan Rakyat i.e. PKR & DAP, the threesome in the Alliance.
The objective of this Alliance, is to collectively round-up support from the multi-racial citizens of Malaysia, and eventually, with their eligibilities to vote at their constituents, either Parliment or State, in by-elections or in general elections, will this rounded-up support be translated for the victory of Pakatan Rakyat, in terms of majority of total number of votes casted.
This new Alliance i.e. Pakatan Rakyat, is still in it’s embryoligical stage, i.e. newly born. As such, it is unwise & premature, to provide judgement, on a long term mutual agreement already established between the component political parties in Pakatan Rakyat.
Whatever, whichever, whenever & however steps had, are & will be taken by LEADERS of the Alliance i.e. Pakatan Rakyat=PAS,PKR & DAP, will eventually be zoomed to their Objectives which they have already concurred and agreed, and we pray, hopefully, a Harapan Baru for Malaysia will materialise, InsyaAllah, Amin, for the future of all Malaysians.

Salaam and good greetings to all readers of this blog, and “Selamat Mengundi’ to all registered voters at Parliment Sibu constituency, on 16th May 2010.
To reiterate and to further emphasise Saudara Anwar Ibrahim’s election campaigns, now ongoing, and the call for a Harapan Baru For Malaysia, my personal prayer is that, may the voters’ hearts be opened and enlightened to receive this call. To achieve for a prospective dynamic change in Governance, i.e. from BN CHANGED to PAKATAN RAKYAT Governance, which parties in PAKATAN RAKYAT comprise of PAS,PKR (keADILan & PRM) and DAP, the new threesome Alliance, InsyaAllah, Amin.
PAKATAN RAKYAT is already known, in Malaysia and worldwide, as the powerful force of dynamic change by the Rakyat, of the Rakyat and for the Rakyat of Malaysia, ever to happen and to take place, after almost 53 years of Independence for Merdeka in 1957.
PAKATAN RAKYAT’s DAP candidate, who has already won and hold a State-ADUN seat in Sarawak, is potentially, the rightful candidate of choice to win this Parliment Seat being contested. This similar occassion, also happened in the Parliment Seat in the recently held by-election in Kuala Terengganu, whereby, the PAKATAN RAKYAT candidate from PAS WON the Parliment by-election, En Rosli Endut, who is also already a State-ADUN seat in Terengganu, who contested against the BN candidate that lost.
This forthcoming Parliment by-election on 16th May 2010, will be another eventuality, whereby the forces of unethical political dominance, IRRESPONSIBLE governance and corruptional practices by the people of the ruling state Sarawak Government of BN, and, also of the Federal Government by the people of BN, WILL BE UP AGAINST THE RIGHTFUL POWER AND DEMOCRATIC VOICE OF THE PEOPLES OF ALL RACES, be it Ibans, Melanaus, Bajaus, Kadazans, Chinese, Orang Asli, Indians, Malays, especially to all the multi-racial peoples in Sarawak of different ethnics, who consists of ALL RELIGIONS, IN THIS COUNTRY OF OURS MALAYSIA, WHICH WE LOVE AND CARE, FOR THE WELL BEING OF US CITIZENS, now, and for our future generations, WHO WANTS DYNAMIC CHANGE OF “HARAPAN BARU FOR MALAYSIA” TO TAKE PLACE, now, and forward going to the future, InsyaAllah, Amin.
From recent by-election results in Parliment Hulu Selangor, held on 25th April 2010, the analysis show the Chinese voters is definitely supporting and voted for the PAKATAN RAKYAT candidate from PKR, if the analysis by race is considered, based on statistics, not based on racial sentiments whatsoever.
This non-racial considerations element, owned by PAKATAN RAKYAT i.e. comprising of PAS, PKR (keADILan & PRM) and DAP, is the strongest driving force which unites the peoples and citizens of Malaysia, who are of different racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds.
VICTORY FOR PAKATAN RAKYAT, INSYAALLAH, AMIN, we pray for a miracle from Allah the Almighty, to happen.
Thank You for your time reading this by-election campaign material and Wassalam, may Allah s.w.t. blesses all of us, Rakyat/Citizens of Malaysia, InsyaAllah, Amin
