Suara Anak Pahang (SUAP) wants police to investigate the Aidilfitri advertisement that was aired by TV3, reports Malaysiakini.
“Although TV3 has apologised, the case must be looked into by the authorities for the sake of the sanctity of Islam in the country” , SUAP Action Committee chairman Mohd Shukri Mohd Ramli is reported to have insisted.
PAS Youth, too, it seems, views the ad as an insult to Islam.
View the ad for yourself and decide.
Me?
I think if Angel Gabriel placed Islam right in their noses, they’d blow it away in a piece of Kleenex and be none the wiser.

I think there is a great deal of hype on Umno and Pas/Pkr Islam. All these parties are fundamentalists of various shades like supporting hudud and qisas, khalwat offences, anti cross dressers, homophobic, only Shafii school accepted, Muslim women must observe some kind of censorship whether in dress or visibility in public areas including mosques. Now, how come we are not sensitive to aping the Chinese ang pau? We just change the colour to green will appease us? C’mon, giving green pau is a clear parroting of the Chinese. I am that ultra-sensitive you know. And yes, my faith is razor thin. In fact i won’t even wear baju Melayu because it came from the Indians. Nor wear serban because it came from Arab Jahiliyah. I will just wear, hmm.. i think MU T-shirt is the least sinful of the lot.

Well said Redhuan. I could not have said it better myself.
I have often wondered why some people are so deathly afraid of everything that even hints at other religions. Some people are extremely terrified of going into certain restaurants even though they are halal. I wonder if they are so weak and lack a strong footing in their own faith.
I am a convert and have been in some places these timid, scared-to-death people would describe as “terrifying”, and I have not had an inkling of fear or have been influenced in the slightest by what is around me. I remain staunch in my new faith.
I have to say it, I am sometimes deeply ashamed and embarrassed by the childish, medieval thinking that prevails in our midst. Shame on those whose thinking and faith is so shallow.

No faery tales for Malay kids ?
Luckily P Ramlee was acting in the 60s otherwise all the flying carpets, magicalb
binoculars and fairies would have been deemed unislamic and he would not have been a great actor.

tv3’s intention was incorporating this 1 malaysia concept with the upcoming festive season. okayla, so they got a bit creative. not a bad advertisment i would say. too bad too much read into it by some shallow people. why you have nothing better to pick at except for trivial things? grow up la..suppose that is what that happens when we select people to lead us that are less educated than us.

Dear Harris, everything in the add seems so beautiful.
very well done.
Except one part, which I feel raised a genuine concern.
The part where the page shows some jawi or arabic words and page turned to show a beca. This part seen with other normal things, raised suspicion as the adds actual intend.
Raya is meant celebration for all Malaysians. There were times when we would visit our Muslims friends to makan ketupat. My favorite is the kuih bakar. Muslims would visit our houses during deepavali for mutton curry. Gone are these days.

AidilFitri celebration is not a mere festival. It is a form of ibadah .. a day of reflection of one self. It is not a merry making day per se.
A day of ibadah with an image of Pak Haji Santa with something similar to the northern star at the background of the beca? An image similar to the Festival of light with all of those pelitas and lampu lampu?? aww come on people…
I suggest TV3 dont throw the ad away. TV3 can save a lot of money on advertisement budget. Hey the ad can be used for the coming Christmas and Deepavali too.
Call me shallow but to me the ad was a big NO NO for Aidilfitri.
( A proper baju melayu must come with sampin and songkok. Indian also wearing sampin? Baju melayu is a fusion of cultures. Songkok from India and sampins i believed are Polynesian. Wiki-Check Tongan people attire. And i will wear baju raya because i am a Malay. MU T-shirt on hari raya? lol and yes one or two of P. Ramlee’s movies have been banned and some scenes from several famous movies have been cut ever since. and yes the fairy in Laksamana Do Re Mi was unislamic.)

If that is the case, shouldn’t you be addressing your concerns to the millions upon millions of Muslims who are even now, before Hari Raya, already celebrating the festival by bursting firecrackers every night. No one is taking them to task.
And if that is the case, shouldn’t you be addressing your concerns to the many, many Muslims who celebrate the fasting month by gorging themselves on the buffet buka puasas held in countless hotels and restaurants all over the country?
By the way, your description of “Pak Haji Santa”, was priceless. You have a sense of humour I will admit.l

Another thing, this SUAP Action Committee chairman Mohd Shukri Mohd Ramli badly needs to grow up and act in a professional, mature manner.
So obviously the TV3 ad did not go down well with some people, but the intention was good and one suspects was made in keeping with the 1Malaysia philosophy. It’s intent I imagine was to show how wonderfully different religions can co-exist, or should be able to.
Those who are getting all worked up about the “inappropriatness” of the ad are knee-jerk reactions that reflect badly on the attitude and mentality of these hysterics-prone lot. Or, maybe they just see this as an opportunity to get some free publicity. If so, it is they who should be investigated for false potrayal.

How to keep an open mind? How to question anything? If Muslims are looking over their backs and wondering what the neighbors would say all the time, well you can guess the reason why we are all behind. Spending countless hours and effort to counter and deflect accusations is waste of time and energy. Most probably some people in Pakistan would not accept aid from non-Muslims and prefer to face death rather than risk hell. What about quantum physics, Professor Hawkins? Are we ever going to spend money on research that may prove what we believe is false? Better to believe that all the religious scholars are right than the possibilities that the scientists, astronomers and mathematicians have debunked all the religious science?

Then how come baby Jesus and the crib is never shown on Christmas ads? Instead, we get silly flying Santas, pine trees with snow and presents.
Serious Shepherd
September 8, 2010
You can only find stuff like baby Jesus at places like MPH bookstore that sells Christian stuff. Maybe those Christian images are not shown elsewhere because of Jesus and his mother are of Middle Eastern origin?
I would admire ads / TV shows that highlight Santa as Mr. Nicholas or Saint Nick. At least I know that the producers did some research.

To those who said that there are Christian meaning/features are completely off the mark. There is nothing about Christianity in the video. Santa Claus, reindeer etc are commercial ideas and got nothing to do with Christianity. The focus on Christmas is about the birth of Christ, and goodwill to mankind.

Please do remember the muslims here are not good muslims really may be I should say are fake muslims, hence that is why their faith in the religion is so thin. They are so promiscuous and most of all very corrupted, a good example are the Umno leaders and the million civil servants that the people deal with daily. They are all muslims and what a bunch of examples !
Good muslims don’t corrupt, threaten non muslims with their lives, marginalise non muslims, write filths in the their postings in the blogs plus so many indecent things in lives.
Islam is a wonderful religion in some Arab countries but for sure not in Malaysia, it is being distorted to suit them. Just look around you Malaysia have Islamic rules that you don’t find them in muslim countries. So to appear the muslims leaders are doing that to protect their faith in the country, have corrupted muslim leaders with assets that would take them a few thousand life times to acquire but in a matter of few decades they and their children are all multi millionaires or even billionaires. Like shenanigan Mahathir, Sarawak M.B. and his children just to name a few only have million and billions of dollars worth of assets all over the world. I might even add that some of them have investments in beer making not to mention the ill gotten gain hidden abroad ! This is not what good muslims are supposed to be !

Enough lah, SUAP. As a moslem, I was somewhat taken aback by the TV3 advert (the part when the ‘beca’ flew, because it’s like the santa claus sled…). But TV3 apologised, and there should be no more ill feelings. SUAP, or any other group who claim to speak for Malays/Moslems should move on

Mr John
Quite correct, Santa Claus has made so many children happy and the myth continues to do so. Why grumble about what is so innocently pleasing to children.
Look at the faces of the kids in the video….do you want to spoil it by brining in religion?
Let the children be….for goodness sake, no apologies needed…we need to grow up.

You know why most of the muslims in Malaysia faith are so shallow ?
Is there a religion you know of that offers incentives for non muslims to become one ?
I know of many who became muslims either because of the incentives to become one
or because they were compelled to become one for some reasons known only to the
religious authorities.
The religious authorities just want the increasing numbers to show how ‘popular’ Islam
is and accepted by the non muslims to embrace the Islam. They are not interested in the
quality of the converts and also they do not have the confidence of the religion they
represent. They don’t allow the Catholics to use the word Allah, to build temples where
they want and most of all they compel non muslims to become muslims just because the
non muslims want to marry muslims. But are these converts really muslims ?
Yet to day so many of these converts that I know of are still living lives of that of non
muslims. Several of them I know of are eating pork ,non halal meat and above all don’t even
pray once a day not to mention the need to pray at least 5 times a day !
All these are results of compelling the non believers to remain as muslims !

If media wishes to portray Islam only as a terrorist religion!
