The following is reported to be the first sermon of the First Caliph, Saidina Abu Bakar, after the death of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) :
“I have been given the authority over you, and I am not the best of you. If I do well, help me, and if I do wrong, set me right. Sincere regard for truth is loyalty and disregard for truth is treachery. The weak amongst you shall be strong with me until I have secured his rights, if God will; and the strong amongst you shall be weak with me until I have wrested from him the rights of others, if God will. Obey me so long as I obey God and His Messenger (Muhammad, pbuh). But if I disobey God and His Messenger, ye owe me no obedience. Arise for your prayer, God have mercy upon you.”
In writing what I write below, I am guided by these words of wisdom.
______________________________________
I was born in the town of Batu Gajah, in the state of Perak.
It does not matter that I now live in Pahang.
Perak is still my home state, and Sultan Azlan Shah is still my Sultan.
I have read today, in Malaysiakini, a report that His Royal Highness had said that questioning the special rights of the Malays in this country conflicted with the Federal Constitution.
His Royal Highness is also reported to have said that the “Malay Rulers who sit on their thrones today are not just inheriting the power to rule but also the responsibilities towards Islam and the Malay race, ensuring that the legacy continues” and that “It would be most unfortunate for the race and religion if real history is erased and the facts altered. If this is allowed to go on, it would be pointless to regret if one day the Malays find themselves marginalised and Islam relegated to the periphery” .
I am saddened by these words that have been attributed to my monarch.
I am saddened because my monarch, who rose to the highest judicial office in the land, must surely know that there are no special rights guaranteed to anyone in the constitution based on ethnicity.
Were it otherwise, it would offend the religion of Islam and my monarch, as the head of Islam in Perak, would be obliged, as a Muslim to condemn such a provision as such.
I am saddened because the words attributed to my monarch suggest that His Royal Highness might have overlooked that he is monarch to all in his state, and not merely the Malays.
I am saddened that His Royal Highness has not noticed that so many of his subjects, Malays and non-Malays, have long been marginalised by the political leaders in UMNO who, in the guise of trying to uplift the lot of the Malays, have in fact robbed the rakyat blind.
Finally, it saddens me that His Royal Highness does not see that Islam, as a way of life of peace, attained through the surrender of the self to the Will of the Almighty, and manifested through the extension of friendship, goodwill, love and kindness towards all men and women, created equal in the sight of Allah SWT, and founded on the precepts of justice and equality, has long been pushed to the periphery in this nation.
I pray that Allah SWT will guide His Royal Highness to the truth.

Good to know that the First Caliph, like Haris here, knew the right stuff and so wished no one to obey him or anyone or anything else other than their own consciences, which according to some, rightly or wrongly, is the always open channel through which the still voice of one’s Almighty tries to establish a good connection, or a re-connection.
Perhaps that still voice of the Almighty will also get through to the Sultan of Perak’s innate and eminent good sense.

Obviously Haris knows only too well but for the sake of the righteous path that he has chosen, he does not care.
Only those with vested interest, greed and dishonesty would stoop so low as to quote the constitution and proclaim to all and sundry about non-existent special rights and the need to safeguard Islam from imagined onslaughts.
The day he let his subjects down by agreeing to pirates taking over his state from the chosen, legitimate lawmakers, his credibility and stature went down the gutters.

But whatever, the speech is still voiced out and having the speech written by someone doesn’t take away the responsibility of ensuring accuracy especially by one who has held the highest post in the Judiciary

For Lord’s spirit makes us One
As we give each other honour
We give glory to the Lord.

That the Lord is not our private property.
God does not comfort us to make us comfortable.

Tuan,
“I guess UMNO/BN is squeezing his ball damn hard right now, that He had to come out with brainless decree.”
“UMNO must have promised new attractive and juicy “stimulants” to inject into his family companies. What a blooming shame, one needs to stoop so bloody low to enrich oneself!”
“…that Sultan Azlan speech too is written by UMNO/BN”

Sila Periksa Kad pengenalan anda.

Talhah, it is clear as daylight that Sultan Azlan Shah publicly mislead the rakyat in his Hijrah speech. Its a constitutional fact. Among all Rulers, expectation on Sultan Azlan is higher because he was once the Lord President. Im was born and bred in Kuala Kangsar. Raised to rever the Sultans. Thus, it really pains me when I see my Sultan going wayward.

Allah has promised in the Holy Qur’an that “the truth shall always prevail”. As a Muslim I firmly believe and fully support whatsoever is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an. I know Allah will not let me down. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an “Be Patient and I will always be with you” and “Patience is part of your Faith”. The old adage agrees with that… “It says patience is bitter but the fruit is sweet”. So let us be patient and led Allah’s law takes it course.

Maybe I’m being autistic, but I can’t move on past the part in the “Report of The Federation of Malaya Constitutional Commission” 1957, Chapter IX, Fundamental Rights, Constitutional Guarantees, page 71 paragraph 163 where it says:
‘The difficulty of giving one community a permanent advantage over the others was realised by the Alliance Party, representatives of which, led by the Chief Minister, submitted that-“in an independent Malaya all nationals should be accorded equal rights, privileges and opportunities and there must not be discrimination on grounds of race and creed . . .” The same view was expressed by their Highnesses in their memorandum, in which they said that they “look forward to a time not too remote when it will become possible to eliminate Communalism as a force in the political and economic life of the country”‘.
Was that the last comment of the kind that the Rulers made on this subject? What happened? Is there a record of their about-face recorded somewhere? I tried to track down that memorandum – it has to be one of the most important documents in the history of Malaysia, given the impact on Malaysia of the manifest failure to realise the Rulers’ magnanimous and respectable aspirations (of that time). I got an email from arkib.gov.my saying
“For your information, after the search, we found that ‘The Federation of Malaya Constitutional Commission Report 1957’ is a one of our collections. The Accession No is 2007/0059806”. I’d be interested to read someone’s impression of the memorandum itself and whether the quote in the Constitutional Commission’s Notes is a fair summary of its content. Arkib.gov.my’s email also said:
“You also need to comply with conditions under Section 39 of the National Archives Act 2003, namely:
…
ii. Can not use these documents for purposes other publications;”
So I’m guessing that the best we can get is “the quotation is a fair one”. Does anybody feel like a trip to Jalan Duta to have a peep at the memo? I’d do it myself, but as a pengunjung I think my impression might count for very little.

Malay did not born and raised by Islam.
And so did the monarch.
The position of Sultans in the Constitution should be taken as a Fair Speaker for All as they should be Sultan for ALL.
Special attention was to be on those aborigines (and in fact anyone) who were and continued to be marginalised.
The Constitution has put Sultans in a Special position to this Special Jobs for Fairness.
If Sultans ignore or twist the basis Principle of Fairness for ALL, and would prefer to stand for the old term “Malay” rather than ALL. the Constitution will be meaningless for the Sultans.
When Malaya changed its name to Malaysia, Malay in the Constitution should be for Malaysian and not to remain as Malay.
What was wrong with the wordings of the Constitution is not worse than the words spoken by the Sultan himself!!
A country can survive without Sultans but it cannot survive without People!!GE12 has changed part of the Government because of NON-JUSTICE OR MARGINALISATION of all People (not only non-Malay) by UMNO/BN for close to 50 years. The more Unfairness to come, the current to demand for Fairness will be bigger. UMNO cannot stop this Current in GE12 and same will be for coming GE. Can a Sultan stop it??

Before he was brutally tortured and killed off by the usual human ignorance and human madness of the establishment, which for all intents and purposes is, as we well know, still alive and kicking today, the good Jesus of Nazareth aka Nabi Isa was reported to have said succinctly:
“And the Truth shall set you free.”
It’s amazing isn’t it, at how closely related the real teachings of true Hinduism, true Buddhism, true Christianity and true Islam are? It’s uncanny enough to suggest that if one were to dig deep enough, one might well find them all to have the same underlying root.
That’s why it’s so bizarre, and sad, to watch the vast majority of their so-called “followers” and “devotees” still misunderstand their (same) fundamentals or be deliberately hypocritical about their truth and hence, insist on carrying on fighting and dividing and destroying each other so pointlessly and so unreligiously over countless centuries.
Perhaps like Haris prays here, Allah SWT will guide His Royal Highness to the truth and perhaps also show him the…er….error of his ways.

It is pointless talking about God’s will without the proper conduct of accepting whatever he will, including the waywardness of the royalty or the cabinet running the nation down to state assemblies.Like all story, god’s will is based on certain script where events unfolds based on guidelines of the kithab. This means whoever goes against the grain of the kithab will eventually received his judgement,be the person the most powerful on earth. Our task is to defend the Truth in the kithab form any corruption to it by politicians. We share and emphasis the Truth to everyone, from the king down to the beggers. If the masses busy themselve on grasping the truth instead of busy, busy with preparation of election and believing in ballot box system,we would be basking in the glory of Tuhan NOW.As new medicines are discovered, all in GOD’s will,so too will new groups like the Third force come to the fore.HIS[story] is merely a record of GOD’s story. How can we as charecters in the story determine the outcome of the story. So much frustration and unnecessary excitement, just because,we do NOT heed the Truth contained in the kithab. Now lets say it together “Thy will be done”INSHAALLAH.PERIOD

Aren’t Malay Rulers who sit on their thrones, supposed to be, in tandem with their responsibilities to their subjects, humanitarians with ethics and compassion.
Surely the Sultan of Perak more than any other sultan, by virtue of his learning and his calling as a former Judge, would be the leader to suggest that materialism be used not to seperate one person or group from another, but through cooperative effort draw them together in harmonious relationships.
The Quran, the Bible,Gautama Buddha and other messengers of God all preached endlessly, that ALL men are equal.
The central theme of Christmas which we are now celebrating is, “PEACE AND GOODWILL TO ALL MEN.”
HUMANITY… is the key to further progress, definitely.

Brother Haris,
It boils down to ‘throwing pearls to swines’. In their lust for power and wealth most of these so-called leaders are just mongrels wagging their tails to the government of the day failing to realize that whatever they are given comes from the taxpaying rakyat. It is the rakyat that has been propping them up.
Everything these parasites and beggars have comes from part of the hard earned money of the rakyat. Yet, these ingrates have let their loyal rakyat down.
