The Staronline reported yesterday that Human Resources Minister Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam has confidently assured that the Indian community’s citizenship and welfare woes will be resolved by the end of next year.
Lets leave off the welfare issues for the moment.
I take it that by citizenship issues, this is in reference to the Indians who are citizens of Malaysia but do not have birth certificates and identity cards as indicia of the same.
The report quotes Subramaniam as saying :
“As of the middle of this year, a total of 4,948 cases (citizenship and welfare problems involving Indians) were registered under the Program Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia and so far 35% of the cases have been resolved”.
If I understand the minister correctly, as at the middle of this year, 4,948 of these ‘citizenship’ cases were registered and taken cognisance of by the government and, of these, 35% have been resolved.
By resolved I will assume that they now have proof of citizenship.
Now, firstly, 35% of 4,948 works out to 1,731.8, so I do not know how the minister’s staff came to these figures.
Leaving this oddity aside, for the following reasons, the minister must explain how given that the government has only been able to resolve the citizenship issue of 1,731.8 Indians in 6 months, they now propose to resolve this issue by the end of next year.
At my meetings with Waythamoorthy in London last month, we discussed this problem at some length.
Moorthy disclosed to me that this problem affected some 100,000-150,000 Indians throughout the country and agreed that several of the indigenous communities in Sabah and Sarawak also faced this problem.
We both agreed that this was a serious problem and had to be made a matter of urgency to be resolved.
We also both agreed that a government that was serious about resolving this and put its mind to it could solve this predicament, not just of the Indians, but also that of the Sabahans and Sarawakians, by deploying mobile NRD teams to the areas where most of the affected are located and effect the requisite investigation and registration there.
If the government is serious about it.
Subramaniam now says they will resolve this by end next year.
Yet, in 6 months, they have only resolved the problem of 1,731.8 Indians.
At this rate, Subra would have long died of old age and cremated or buried and this issue would still be plaguing thousands.
Election talk, Subra?

Once a problem is exposed, there is a need to move on,unless there are clear indication the problems can be resolved with some public pressure.Otherwise the problem will end up in the rubbish heap on which more major issue are similarly left to rot.
As for pr,their attention is not the rakyats problem, but more of AI supporting LKS to be DPM in return for the lattet to support the former as PM.Such unasahmed disclosure is a hint of what bleak future the rakyats have when going to the ballot box.I know, when all fails me,Tuhan will not let his servants down.As God prepare the entrance of the Dragon slayer,it must be preceded by the evil dragon on his spree of wanton destruction.Otherwise, the Dargon slayer will be irrelevant. The same can be said on the prelude of the Third force.

Dear Mr. Haris Ibrahim,
It would be unfair to blame UMNO totally for the “screw”-ment of the Malays.
It’s not a rape case, mind you.
UMNO does not, and can NEVER screw the Malays if the Malays themselves don’t want to be screwed.
Similarly, it would be unfair to put the blame squarely on MIC if the Indians are screwed.
They too, like to be screwed by MIC, or they would not have put up with so much bullshits from MIC all these years.
The same can be said about the Chinese as well. Had they not enjoying the “screwing sensation” of MCA, MCA would have collapsed decades ago.
’nuff said.

Most of the politicians will make promises before the election. Most are empty promises. We, rakyats must wake up and should not succumb to such tricks. We must remember that Professionals make commitments. Only Amateurs make promises.

So is MCA, the running dogs in MIC, MCA and the component BN parties leaders are all using the
same tricks ! The Indians and the Chinese had all spoken in the last elections and will do the same
in the coming snap election.
How much longer and what more do they want before they stop calling themselves as representatives
of their people ?

Aiya, Haris, aren’t you being cheeky here? He was of course talking to the Indians, you know, the ones who he hides away from his UMNO friends in the estates and the Urban jungle. Give them a little shiok sendiri news so that he can get their votes. After all he wants to deliver the Indians to the slaughter a bit better than his predecessor did the last time.

Political Beggar parties like MCA, MIC and Gerakan enjoy being screwed continuously, by the arrogant and egoistic UMNO maniacs but, not the rakyat. We are awake and ready to discard these corrupted UMNO rotten jerks out of Putrajaya!

Harris,
What is the Minister talking about. What happened to the Bureau handling citizenship woes at MIC HQ. As a fresh graduate I was asked to handle that division in 1978, we had 30.000 cases with IC, Birth Certificate and Citizenship issues. What has happened to them Mr Minister or did the MIC shut that Bureau a few years after Samy too over. When I left in 1981, there were still about that number of cases remaining.

Promises seem to be the hallmark of most politicians on both sides of the divide. It very much depends on each individual politician or political party to fulfill their promises. As for MIC, MCA or the string of political parties aligned to BN, promises made remain just that PROMISES!!! No action taken and if any very minimal as stated by yourself. It is indeed plainly clear that all these announcements are a precursor to the next GE. I am totally aghast to the fact that how so many immigrants in Sabah are able to get passports/IC when tragically those who are known to be born in Malaysia find it so difficult to get even their birth certificates?????? It’s not only predominantly an Malaysian Indian problem but am very sure it’s a MAJOR problem for the indigenous people of Sabah and Sarawak. We must act now, get rid of BN for the sake and future of our beloved Malaysia

Especially the new syiok sendiri guy who helms the MCA. That porn star would do anything for his UMNO boss so long as his balls are in Najis’ hands. This scum and his predecessors had screwed the Chinese for the crumbs thrown at them, not to mention the Latuk, Tan Silly and the latest Toon.
Anyway compared to these towkays, the MIC buggers have outdone them by screwing their own kind from day one. When money, power and untold wealth are there for taking, all these parasites are no better than the UMNOputras who have been enriching themselves at the expense of the poor Malays. Yet they have the audacity to claim that they are the guardians of the race and religion.

Oh, c’mon !
That porn star isn’t the only one enjoying screwing.
From Tan Siew Sin onwards, all, and I mean, ALL MCA past presidents screwed the Chinese, and the Chinese enjoyed being screwed too.
It does take TWO to tango.

Bro Haris,
Don’t trust this dumbass minister “by default”.
Since taking over the HR Ministry, this bloke has failed to resolve the maid issues, minimum wages, illegal workers, fingered the Idustrial Relations Act to shortchange the local workforce, dilly dallying on the security guard issues, recently stumbled when the Health Minister shot from the belly with his compulsory insurance for foreign workers. This bloke is an untrustworthy creep.Might as well continue with his syringes and needles.
The figures that he has derived is all bluff. Can he pose for a group photo of say, 300 new Malaysian Indian “citizens” ????
Subra, If you are reading this…..don’t always lie and please solve the many issues under your ministry….recently you also said Socso deductions will increase….are you sure ?
The skills level of our workforce has been stagnant for years….you are not addressing this matter seriously.
You can never be as good and visionary as Tan Sri Lim Ah Lek was.
Shame on you Subra…..you are messing up a proud ministry.

Ccn it be done? Certainly Yes, “hendak seribu daya, tak hendak seribu dalih”. They issued thousands, probably a few millions in total, blue ICs to the illegals brought in by UMNO from Indonesia and Phillipines, the latter mostly to re-settle in Sabah to ensure UMNO rule forever. There’s why we get a population ‘boom’ every time there’s an election. So I don’t doubt it can actually be done. But if there’s hints that these real Malaysians are not UMNO suporters, then the IDs wil not be issued at all.. doesn’t matter if it’s Indians, Chinese, Penans, Kadazans or others born and bred to parents who were in turn born and bred here.

I recently went to the PJ registration centre in New Town to get my new born daughter registered for a birth cert. I dressed up shabily , pretended to be uneducated and submitted all the documents and waited and observed. The officer lady scrutinized the application like a hawk for any ‘mistakes’. I tried to have a friendly conversation with her but she ignored me and was totally attentive on my forms . Suddenly she came across my occupation and then I saw a totally different lady altogether. Totally friendly. Chatting about Hindustani movies, weather etc. I really wonder what if I was a labourer and had made some mistakes in filling up the forms. I am quite sure the figure of Indians without birth cert would have gone up by 1 and I would probably be at the mercy of MIC and UMNO for the rest of my life !

December 10, 2010
It does not affect the Indians too. 9 years ago I went to register the IC for my son. I was dressed “decently” and was attended to. But a nenek (from the Kampong) with her grandson (was not dressed as “decently” as other boys his age) got the cold shoulder. I was watching the nenek moving from counter to counter to ask the assistance of the clerks. I was watching this for almost 20 minutes and I knew something was wrong. Then i walked up to her and asked her what was the problem. She explained that there were some parts of the form that she and her grandson did not understand and nobody was helping her to fill up. I took her back to the first counter and asked the lady to assist. She was trying to evade until I raised my tone and she attended to the nenek immediatelly. The status of your “class” is a issue also. I am sure many kampong and squatter folks also suffer the same fate.

Well spotted there on this endemic problem around a pathetic obsession with “status, class, race and nonsensical externals like attire” which affects the quality of CUSTOMER SERVICES in Malaysia in nearly every sector but which is particularly prevalent in the public sector services.
The level of outright rudeness and lack of care I have observed on occasions from some of these public servants to members of the general Malaysian public – who they seem to forget or fail to see are the direct CUSTOMERS that they are put there and paid for to serve – is shocking, if not disgusting. Some of these public sector employees seem to take particular pleasure from exercising their “power” and acting like little Hitlers, particularly to people who are illiterate or frail and who can’t understand public sector lingo or its obsessive fetish with pointless and OTT form filling exercises filled with irrelevances for the sake of ancient SOPs that no one in the 21st century will likely be able to justify if they were to do a reasonable cost-benefit analysis of those convoluted public sector SOPs which no doubt are there now to keep pointless things going on and on and…..and to pay civil servants from public funds for doing pointless, non-value adding work.
From noting who the incumbent HR head honcho is, and also previous incumbents, and noting the self-service attitude of “leaders” in Government, the “screw-you” attitude of the rakyat’s many elected “non-representatives” and the civil service heads who now have jobs for life, one can see why public sector services would be exactly the way it has been then and and still is.
The same Neanderthal clueless attitude and lack of understanding and focus on what good customer service and support is can also to be observed at times in some of the public services offered at diplomatic missions overseas. A short, sharp retort however, sometimes succeeds in addressing that lack of focus in customer service offered to overseas Malaysian customers.

According to your quotation of Dr. Subramaniam,
1) He is only referring to the 4,948 cases registered under the Program Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia
2) The cases cover citizenship and welfare problems involving Indians. He did not mention how many of these cases involve welfare problems only.
3) He managed to resolve 35% of these cases within the roughly 6 month period from the middle to the near end of 2010. He projects the resolution of the balance 65% of the cases within twice the length of this period, i.e. by end of 2011.
I do not see anything contradictory in his message.

Signs are that the 13th GE is around the corner when you read about the lapdogs of the UMNOputras such as the MIC, MCA, GERAKAN and other minion parties claim they are doing their best to uplift their poor, misguided, cheated supporters of a great future.
Foreigners are welcomed with open arms with Mycards as they become another fixed deposit voters for the BN. Non-Malays born, bred and who have toiled for the greater part of their lives are denied citizenship due to technicalities by the Home Ministry and the little Napoleons in NRD.
As the days to the GE gets closer the MSM will carry news and pictures of non-Malays past their prime receiving their citizenship from the Home Ministry as was the case of 33 people from Pulau Ketam, Port Klang who got their citizenship papers. While Indonesian foreigners (most of them illegals)with a minimum stay of 5 years are given citizenship, non-Malays born in this country are only given their rightful place in their twilight years.
What a shame! Double standards of the highest order!! Yet fellows in MIC, MCA can go about boasting that they are doing great service to their people. Hypocrites dancing to the tune of the UMNOputras in order to line their own pockets.
Only hope for the poor and marginalized Malays, Chinese, Indians and bumiputras of Sabah and Sarawak is to vote for CHANGE. Our common enemy is the corrupted, arrogant and racist Barisan Nasional controlled by the UMNOputras and supported by their lackeys.
Let us kick them out in the next election and free this beautiful country of pirates, parasites and political prostitutes.

Thanks Haris, for taking up the torch for the marginalized, including a vast majority of Indians, who don’t even understand the importance attached to being a citizen. All because they are not educated.
Waythamoorthy has himself seen the light….how enlightening that both of you discussed this issue of the marginalized poor, including the malaysian indian poor.
You are singular and relentless in your quest for change. Bravo2….many many times.
At the moment it is the rich malaysian indian in coopetation with the governmental powers who are helping to screw the poor and the lowly of their kind, in order that they can wield power….such as feeling falsely proud to watch their brothers remain forever, road sweepers and rubbish carriers, while they roll into the temple grounds, to dare worship God, in huge big monster cars.

Those in power in MCA, MIC and Gerakan and other BN component parties and who form the BN-coalition government did not get screwed by UMNO in anyway unless it was only in the way that they really wanted to or pretended to be screwed.
That is because they are the favoured ones of the de facto UMNO government i.e. the archetypal symptomatic “cronies” of the corrupt establishment disease known as “cronyism aka corruption” and which malaise, we know, first beset the de jure government of Malaysia in the mid-seventies and which has plagued the rakyat ever since, with the disease worsening at warp-speed in geometrical progression from the early eighties after the ultra-nationalist Mahathir took over as PM and then morphed into a power-crazed Chief Executive type who set about riding roughshod over the Federal Constitution with his KM-hatchet and unilaterally changing the fundamental structure of a democratic sovereign nation without any consultation with anyone at all (being rubber stamped all the time on that butchery by his cohorts in UMNO and cronies in MCA, MIC, Gerakan, etc.) as if sovereign Malaysia was some form of a lesser entity, like a purely profit-seeking Malaysia plc owned by Mahathir and his UMNO family and BN-crony shareholder clique, similar somewhat to the business model that Singapore has been modelled on in a most clinical and undemocratic fashion by the PAP.
These top cronies in MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other component BN-coalition partners have excelled at looking after no one or in doing anything other than looking after and self-serving and filling up their own and their families’ (nepotistic) and extended cronies’ rice bowls. They have been fattening themselves right royally ever since along with the UMNOputras at the devastating expense of the vast majority of the rakyat who have been marginalised, disenfranchised and estranged from their initial strong bonds of good social cohesion in diversity that Malaysia has always been famed for. All that self-service and greed has naturally led to the destruction over those years of the aspirations and ambitions of untold numbers of their constitutionally equal fellow Malaysians who were all just as, if not more, deserving of those equal opportunities that were unfairly denied them and heaped unfairly upon the undeserving and already filthy rich UMNOPUTRAS and their just as elite and just as filthy rich Chinese, Indian and cronies cosily embedded inside MCA, MIC, Gerakan and so on within the racist and greed-based coalition of the BN, or the affront to good governance known as the National Front.
This elite band of unrivalled self-servers and/or spineless non-representatives of the rakyat from the MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other BN-component crony parties have been the real tragedy for the rakyat as these parasites have successfully managed to fool not some, but most of the ordinary people most of the time and so have succeeded in selling out their own communities and party supporters wholesale to the racist, demeaning and degrading policies of the Ketuanan Melayu-minded Umnoputra Malays more by themselves than anyone else has been able to. They have behaved like blood-sucking parasites who have attacked from within not only their own communities but ALL Malaysians merely to feed their frenzy of greed for power and wealth and status and the ability to use that to further speculate and accumulate more and more personal and vested interests in a vicious cycle that is now fast beggaring the nation and present and future generations of Malaysians. The Chief Minister of Sarawak is an interesting illustrative case in point of that alleged theory being more than a figment of anyone’s fertile imagination.
So it is a sad and bizarre fact to note that these self-serving pariahs are only being kept in political power to screw Malaysians through the political ignorance of the vast majority of good Malaysians themselves. If you can just bust through the debilitating ignorance and comatose stupor barriers built-up from the nauseatingly false and political propaganda supported religious opiates now constantly force-fed to the simple good folk in the kampongs, new villages, rubber estates and oil palm plantations, Felda holdings and jungle reservations etc. then you will be able to get rid of all the pariah bastards for good. That time hopefully, will come sometime soon before these racist and pariah bloodsuckers really do succeed in sucking all Malaysians and the nation dry to the bone!

Why is this BN government so intent on marginalising the non-Malays?
My brother was born in Malaysia, raised in Malaysia.
Married an Indonesian, daughter was born in Jakarta.
Why can’t his daughter get an IC?
Isn’t there a law that says the child of a Malaysian carrying a blue IC SHOULD also be a Malaysian citizen?
