“…when Malaysians go to the polls in the coming election, they will not be voting as Malaysians. They will be voting as Malays, Chinese, Indians and natives of East Malaysia” – excerpt from RPK’s post today.
Can’t speak for the other voters, Pete, but I’ll cast my vote, as I’ve done all these years, as anak Bangsa Malaysia.
Hope all is well with you and Marina.

It is un-Islamic to differentiate on the basis of race in such matters.
“All men(includes women) are equal in Islam, the Arab has no superiority
over the non-Arab, nor does the non-Arab have superiority over the Arab,
save in the fear of God.”
Prophet Muhammed, peace be upon him.
I would rather my vote go to the likes of Lim Guan Eng than the likes of that katak from Pasir Mas, masquerading as a pious muslim.

History did not remember Diderot and Rousseau for their friendship, nor their disagreements. But instead, for their brilliant minds during the 18th century Lumière movement.
Good day, bro!

I voted in every election for the sincere candidate. It happen to be non-bn.I would like to vote kuli from bn,but he did not contest in my area,Once we resort to exclusive slogan, like ABU SABM become a hypocracy. What RPK say is for the majority of the voters and the facts will bear itself out
The change will come when rakyat do not submit to politicians, but only to Tuhan. If we are receiving bad leaders, let us have a good look at ourselve in the mirror. We must have love and compassion, but leave hate out.Let the best team win,all candidates are malaysians [anak bangsa negara]Do not love one and hate the other.we must practise what we preach

its SABM and ABU for me too, and not just me – i live in a middle class neighbourhood with a malay neighbour on one side, a chinese neighbour on the other, several indian, malay, eurasian and mixed (other) ethnic folks…we talk, we jog, we have a resident’s committee and we all have a network of friends and family and the consensus is that we’ll vote for ABU/BN, black, yellow, red, brown doesn’t matter…PAS, PKR, DAP, PSRM – these are our choices from the men and women in my neighbourhood irrespective of race or religion…the ground swell is significant

Nope, I will mark the ballot sheet as a Malaysian. The current regime segregates it out the votes to tally on racial streams. Wrong call again, Pete!

The question in every Malaysian’s mind should be what kind of country do we want our children and grandchildren to inherit.
We have the right to expect our elected representatives, whatever their racial/religious background, to safeguard the wellbeing of all Malaysians. A responsible government does not punish citizens who may have voted for opposition parties, nor should it expect gratitude when it is merely doing what it ought to.
We have the right to expect our elected representatives, when faced with incidents of overwhelming greed and abuse of power within their ranks, to act decisively to ensure that those involved are punished for it. Not because of public outrage or the spectre of lost votes, but simply because it is the decent thing to do.
We have the right to expect our elected representatives to understand that their paymasters, i.e. the rakyat, deserve to be treated with respect and their legitimate concerns addressed. Allowing thugs to beat up our young people with impunity, for instance, is not the most intelligent course of action. (I say this, knowing full well that intelligence is not the first word that comes to my mind when I think of most of our elected representatives – but that’s another story).
The situation today can be summed up as ‘UMNO di utamakan, rakyat di pinggirkan’. So, come election day, I will vote as a Malaysian, for the future of my children and grandchildren.

Sounds rather malicious, RPK trying his way, as usual, at moulding public opinion. It is only his opinion, his analysis….anyway. Not worth caring about., or losing sleep over.
Opinion is free.
Those of us who will go to vote in the coming elections know for sure now more than ever we did before, that unless we identify ourselves as Malaysians, unless we go with heart and soul to vote as Malaysians, we will not be able to reclaim this country. And unless we go with pride as one people, one nation, we will not achieve this purpose, which has become our utmost priority.
We don’t have to listen to those whose intentions are to deliberately and wilfully, with evil intentions, divide us Malaysians in order just to satisfy their jaded ego

Can’t think of any truly educated person indulging in race-based voting. As the country progresses – as it will despite BN – issues, not race, will increasingly determine voting outcomes. Despite occasional setbacks, no one can stop this general trend.
