“Haris, I really don’t know what to say, except a big, “THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH”. Whilst many are just still in the talking, “I wish you all the best”, “I admire you”, and passing encouraging comments stage, me included, you are there, in the thick of things, doing the work of several men.
We all have our valid reasons why we can’t help in person, but those that can’t be personally present, I do hope that they will join me and keep you and your staff, volunteers, etc., in prayer.
When, and IF, Pakatan win, and they will, if we can get rid of the “hantu voters”, etc, I wish that the people will be grateful, for their win will be surely be as a result of your work and sacrifice.
Don’t expect any gratitude from Pakatan itself, for that will nit happen, but at least you have done what you have, which is really a huge thing.
THANKS AGAIN HARIS.
MAY THE GOOD LORD, INDEED MAY ALL THE GODS JOIN TOGETHER AND BE WITH YOU, YOUR TEAM, THE VOLUNTEERS, ETC” – Grateful heart’s comment to the “How many Mat Abus do we need to bury UMNO / BN?” post.
_______________________
Grateful heart, firstly, thank you for your kind words of encouragement.
On behalf of all in the ABU team, and myself, I want to tell you that we do not do what we do in the hope or expectation of gratitude from any quarter.
My reason for doing all that I do is quite simple and I have shared this with all of you before.
I am addicted to the love, respect and tenderness that God plants in all human endeavour that has as its ends the justice, equity and compassion that He enjoins upon us.
That my efforts in ABU might please my Lord suffices for me.
I do not ever question the reasons of those who cannot join to help us in person.
We must each be guided by our own conscience.
What I do ask of you who, for whatever reason, cannot walk with us, is that you help us with funds.
Whether you are here, or away in another country, help us.
And I ask that you pass on this appeal to any and all who you know who love our country and her people and who are willing to help us remove UMNO / BN from Putrajaya.
I have shared with all of you in my Phase 1 Part 1, Phase 1 Part 2 and Phase 1 Part 3 postings, the work that is before us now right up to polling day.
On 20th December, I made another appeal for funds for the ABU War Fund.
I shared with you in that post that the balance of the funds given by you previously was about RM10,000.
Many of you have responded.
Big or small, we are grateful.
It all adds up.
To-date, we have received about RM90,000.
Thank you.
Tomorrow, I will issue a cheque to printers in the sum of about RM15,000 for material that will go out for distribution.
Last week, I issued two cheques totaling RM21,000, also for printed material for distribution.
In the coming days, more will go out.
Can I tell you approximately how much we will need to fight this war effectively?
Before I do, I ask you to try and appreciate the scale of work in the working teams operating through the Secretariat, the material for distribution that is being generated, as well as the ground operations in the constituencies that we are focused in from now until polling day, to make an assessment for yourselves of the funding that is needed.
ABU will need at the very least RM500,000 to see through all that is planned.
I am singularly responsible for the receipt and expenditure of all ABU funds, and I will at all times remain accountable to you for the same.
I do not ask you to give us funds and to trust me blindly.
I have spoken to both auditors to try and set a date and time for a second audit of all funds coming in and being spent.
We will account to the auditors for all monies received and all expenditure and as was done previously, they will report to you.
On 21st January, I posted here that I had received information that parliament would be dissolved on 22d February, the date for nomination of candidates would be set for 16th March, and polling day would be scheduled on 30th March.
Last Friday, I was on Skype with someone who moves in the circles within UMNO who are in the know.
His message : 22 – 16 – 30 is it.
How reliable is this?
The individual concerned who I have known for some time now, in my opinion, is.
Let’s work on the assumption that his source of information, too, is.
Starting today, we have less than two calendar months to polling day.
52 days, if we exclude today and the expected polling day.
And if we generously assume that each of us can give 6 hours a day from now to that expected polling day towards some ABU work, that’s a total of 312 working hours or 13 working days.
That’s the time we have, if the information is correct, to do all that we need t0 do to see the end of UMNO / BN in Putrajaya.
Please help us fight this war.
We cannot do it without you.
For details of where to send your contributions, go to the link on the sidebar on the right or the ABU website HERE.

Haris,
RM500,000? I have nowhere near RM500,000 or I’d let you have it.
I will pass the hat around my kampung amongst my friends to see what I can rustle up.
I am also promoting your blog to as many people as I can so that other Malaysians can see the work you are doing and hopefully donate to the ABU cause.
As always, more power to you, Haris Ibrahim.
Thank you, bro, and God bless

I just deposited the RM50 contribution for Feb earlier today. But from what you wrote, ABU needs more funds and faster than the original appeal (with its possible 6 months timeframe) was designed to generate.
Shall transfer another RM50 the next opportunity I get to do so. Ditto from now till polling.
And this weekend, with all the CNY gatherings starting, shall pass the word around. Including spending some time with the young folks (so heavily “burdened” with their piles of ang pows) and explain how some of that money can be put to a good use!
Thank you and God bless

Haris no need to be accountable, you are not stealing. Everyone who gives, gives without any thought….the principle is that when you give, you don’t look beyond the giving. Giving is the end of the act….what is done with what one has given is no longer the giver’s business.
So go ahead, Haris Ibrahim……cannot we have a fund raising dinner of some sort? Your plea here is bound to produce results, just wait and see!
Malaysians always respond generously to a worthy cause, ABU… .is that worthy cause..

shakuntala,
I wouldn’t mind attending a fund raising dinner if only for the opportunity of meeting some of the people here on Haris’s blog, including the man himself 🙂
Only thing is that it’d better be in the next two-three weeks as I am not going to be here in my kampung much longer.
Of course, the fact is that if we could spend money on a fund raising dinner, we could just donate the money we would have spent on the food direct to Haris 🙂
Maybe, the compromise is that we have an el cheapo fund raiser where we donate the equivalent of the food money – eg if one had ordered a dinner for oneself which cost RM10, one then donates RM10 or something silly like that 🙂
Who said supporting ABU needs to be boring?
Hm…. I have in mind at least 2 hot-shot lawyers I might try and drag along…..
P.S. Whatever Haris is having will be covered by me 🙂 In fact we could include everybody into such a hare-brained idea whereby whatever Haris orders for his dinner, we will donate the equivalent to the cause 🙂

Hi HARIS,
I do think that ABU is incredibly amazing n I do agree with the brilliant idea of warning foreign voters in native language, to stay away fr our GE.
However, I feel that the warning is (though brilliant n must be carried out ) merely treating d symptoms.
The disease is the electoral roll.
The EC has commited treason n ought to be revamped .
Is there any possibility of a revamp, maybe even engaging d palace, before GE13?
What can d rakyat do if d regime steal our GE13?
May God bless ABU n HARIS !!
There is no likelihood of any substantive reforms to the EC while BN is in power. Regime change is therefore imperative.
I have lost faith in the palace. My faith is with awakened people.
ABU and its allies have already warned that if the people are cheated at GE13, BN will have to face us on the streets.

Agree, regime change is imperative. Therefore I wld (pity I am not capable) venture all out, be it d easy way , AND otherwise.
Pls don’t lose faith in the palace, give them another chance to earn a place in the Rakyat’s hearts; no?
Thanks so much for everything ABU n U been doing. Best Wishes, n may God bless ABU n HARIS !!

shakuntala,
Late night brainwaves can sometimes turn into great fund raisers for ABU.
Methinks that with Haris’s commitment to ABU, he’ll go along with the idea of the fund raiser provided we do the organising.
Haris’s only role should be to turn up, eat, give a short speech and bank the funds raised 🙂 Oh, and have a good time, as well 🙂
I have already got one interested party who would like to attend. I have not spoken to the two hot-shot lawyers too but if they don’t attend I’ll twist their arms for donations 🙂 I might be able to threaten .. oopss… invite yet another lawyer as well 🙂
As I am a rather boring person with little social skills, I am rather dependent on others to suggest where such a fund raiser should be held. Any suggestions by anybody?
As for being brave, nah, I am one of the greatest cowards you will find.
Sensible? Hm, I have been known to do some crazy things like getting involved in political movements 🙂
Encouraging? Eerrr… that is a nice way to say that I am good at haranguing others 🙂
Heheheheheheh 🙂
Sounds like a plan

February 6, 2013
Dear ABU,
I just got an idea. I dont know if this will work of if this has been mooted before. Regarding Sabah opposition seat allocation troubles. AFAIK, negotiation have been taking place btwn PR, SAPP and maybe also STAR, and that this was a direct negotiation btwn relevant parties. Wouldnt it be great if this nego be facilitated by a neutral 3rd party? Like MCLM or ABU. Sorry off topic. I just donno where to say this.
I have tried, in my personal capacity as friend to local Sabah leaders but you can only take a horse to water, you can’t force it to drink

February 6, 2013
The greatest tragedy in Sabah is that its so-called politicians are so full of themselves and/or so proud of their party that they cannot see that they are defeating themselves even before the fight begins. Their unrealistic hopes tend to split the voter bank needlessly, making it easier for their enemy (BN) to defeat them.
Common sense would suggest that they arrive at some sort of rational arrangement, to evenly allocate the seats and help one another to campaign against a common foe, such that ALL the parties will get a few seats each and be able to contest their strongholds on equal footing.
Worse, many of these so-called politicians are self-serving opportunists, looking for personal gain, rather than in the interest of their people.

So wonderful that so may persons are responding, it is a kind of brotherhood that is being cforged and cemented through Haris’s blog…..isn’t it so good that we all are beginning to get to know each other like family. Except some of us don’t have a clue as to who is who!! In my view that makes it more exciting.
This afternoon I did some distribution of ABU materials, a whole group of robust people joining together to have some food, fun and togetherness for the New Year, one of them wanted a few more. He said he was going to distribute to his friends. Another asked what ABU was all about. Before I could answer he suddenly got it and gave a good laugh. It’s a kind of instant goodwill, the mention of ABU!!!!
My goodness, talk about winning friends and influencing people…..ABU is doing it rather naturally, don’t you think?
Good suggestion KTWong87…..in fact the whole ABU team should have dinner together…..we owe it to them all.

Too late for makan, takers are too slow, we do not have time, only 49 days left, by good guess count, which may turn out to be just right.
Better to urge persons who really care to come out with at least RM1- a small drop. Surely people can affort RM1/-….a throwaway amount, one can easily lose it and not cry.
A dollar a day put away for a week would make it RM7/- three more would make it RM10.
Just use Haris’s paypal account and you need send at the most RM10/-, at the least RM1/-
All who dearly wish ABU success, on behalf of the Rakyat, please donate, as time is running short.
