Thank you, Vanaja, for alerting me to this.
On 9th May, the Star reproduced a Bernama report about a statement issued by the press secretary to Barack Obama in relation to the just concluded 13th GE.
The Star report :
KUALA LUMPUR: The Office of the White House Press Secretary congratulated Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on his general election victory, saying it looked forward to continuing the close cooperation with the Malaysian government and its people to strengthen democracy, peace and prosperity in the region.
“On behalf of the President and the people of the United States, we congratulate Prime Minister Najib on his coalition’s victory in Malaysia’s parliamentary elections on May 5,” a statement from the US Embassy here said.
The general election saw Barisan Nasional returned to power after winning 133 of the 222 parliamentary seats to form the new federal government.
“We also congratulate the people of Malaysia who turned out in record numbers to cast their votes as well as the parties of the opposition coalition on their campaigns as a vibrant opposition is a foundation of democracy,” the statement said. – Bernama
You can read the Star report HERE.
Here’s the full text of the statement issued, taken from the US president’s website.
Note the parts in red that both Bernama and the Star forgot to report.
On behalf of the President and the people of the United States, we congratulate Prime Minister Najib on his coalition’s victory in Malaysia’s parliamentary elections on Sunday May 5. We also congratulate the people of Malaysia, who turned out in record numbers to cast their votes, as well as the parties of the opposition coalition on their campaigns, as a vibrant opposition is a foundation of democracy. We note concerns regarding reported irregularities in the conduct of the election, and believe it is important that Malaysian authorities address concerns that have been raised. We look forward to the outcome of their investigations. The United States looks forward to continuing its close cooperation with the government and the people of Malaysia to continue to strengthen democracy, peace, and prosperity in the region.

The word boycott is derived from the name of Captain Charles Boycott, the land agent of an absentee landlord, Lord Erne. As harvests had been poor that year, Lord Erne offered his tenants a ten percent reduction in their rents. In September of that year, protesting tenants demanded a twenty five percent reduction, which Lord Erne refused. Boycott then attempted to evict eleven tenants from the land. Charles Stewart Parnell proposed that when dealing with tenants who take farms where another tenant was evicted, rather than resorting to violence, everyone in the locality should shun them. While Parnell’s speech did not refer to land agents or landlords, the tactic was first applied to Boycott when the alarm was raised about the evictions.Despite the short-term economic hardship to those undertaking this action, Boycott soon found himself isolated — his workers stopped work in the fields and stables, as well as in his house. Local businessmen stopped trading with him, and the local postman refused to deliver mail & WE THE RAKYATS REFUSE TO READ THE STAR & UTUSEX. Thus we ALL must Charles BOYCOTT star & Utusex.

Anwar or his comrade should announce to all which company to boycott during any of their rallies.
That would be much more effective.
I don’t think any of those companies can sue him or them for saying that.
Boycott maximum 3 companies at any one time. That would be more effective as well.
I am not too sure but I read somewhere that Petron has something to do with mamak’s son?
I have been avoiding Petron and Esso since a few months ago.

Once, the paper was called Suara Tunku Abdul Rahman (STAR)…
Now it should be called Suara Najib Abdul Razak (SNAR)…
It used to pride itself in journalistic integrity, but now it’s nothing but a lap dog.

I stopped buying newspapers a long time ago. I believe in a fair media, vibrant opposition, and fair and free elections, all of these are missing with bn rule. As a citizen, I believe that I should have equal rights as all other citizens, but to no avail with bn,. I believed in the Rukun Negara words ‘ eradication of poverty and restructure of society irrespective of race’, but this was not to be.
