On 27th October, 2013, an initiative was launched by some concerned Malaysians, comprising those of various races and faiths, to form a society with the aim of fostering a sense of brotherhood amongst Malaysians and to heighten the humanity that is in each of us, without regard to differences of race or faith.
Styling themselves as ‘Harmony Malaysia’, members adopted a Constitution that was approved at their Inaugural General Meeting held in Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, and an Executive Council duly elected thereat.
Attendees at the meeting:
The logo adopted for the society is:
Its Constitution states that the society shall be a non-profit making, non-governmental and politically independent association which is non-denominational, humanitarian and shall be a charitable body dedicated to the promotion and preservation of harmony amongst all people in Malaysia, citizens and residents, irrespective of race, ethnicity, religion and background.
The group shall in due course be applying to the Registrar of Societies for registration. It shall be a national body with branches set up in all the States after its registration.
Amongst the objectives stipulated in its Constitution are:
The Society shall concentrate on the promotion and development of good, respectful and healthy relations between all people and a harmonious environment of friendship and relationship between people and communities of diverse ethnicities, creeds and faiths. The objectives of the Society are as follows:
- . 5.1 To promote and develop goodwill, peaceful and harmonious living amongst all people and respect for each other’s culture and faith;
5.2 To promote the spirit of charity, humanitarianism and volunteerism amongst all members of society;
5.3 To educate and make all people more aware and more understanding of the similarities and differences in the cultures, traditions, beliefs and practices of the various communities in Malaysia;
5.4 To protect and defend the rights of all people to truth, justice and peace;
5.5 To collaborate with other bodies, agencies and parties holding similar objectives or pursuing similar interests.
Membership to the Society shall be open to all Malaysian citizens who have attained eighteen (18) years of age and who subscribe to the objectives of the Society.
Members have so far been recruited from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Perak, Penang, Johore, Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan, Malacca and Sabah.
Those amongst you who share the same objectives and may wish to know more or sign up as members can contact the organisation at harmonymalaysia@hotmail.com

Singa Terhormat,
Such an organisation is long overdue in Malaysia.
I wish Harmony Malaysia all success.

tebing tinggi,
It’s quite obvious that you have some difficulties with the English language so allow me to help you a bit.
Harmony Malaysia and ABU are two completely different types of organisations.
Harmony is a cultural society. Think of it as a social club where people of all races and religions go to have a good time interacting with each other.
ABU is more focused on politics and is dedicated to the downfall of your puppet masters, UMNO.
Please do let me know if you did not understand what I have written and I will try again using simpler words and phrases.

Another Anak Bangsa Malaysia ,
If you are truly anak Malaysia you should know better ,you may be good with your English but you could be ignorance of social requirement .
It’s does’t need a society or platform to promote ,’Harmony Malaysia’ what are required and a very basic needs, ‘respect each other’ ,then Malaysia will always in harmony.

Than how about Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia? Does it doing the same job to unite all Malaysian.

We can be racial but can’t be racist.

tebing tinggi,
I happen to think that my English is only average.
There are many Malaysians who are as good, if not better than me – go read Loyar Burok if you don’t believe me.
It’s just your own appalling linguistic skills which have you going around thinking that others are better than you.
I suppose you are the stereotypical UMNO supporter – you are quite happy with the sops fed to you by UMNO and you make condescending remarks, tinged with jealousy, about others who have done better than you.
For a person who talks about respect for others, you seem to have little regard for others, like Harmony Malaysia, who want to foster peace and harmony.
If I had to guess, I would say that you yourself hardly, if ever, make any real protracted effort to “respect each other”.
Your token efforts simply do not count.
But then, you are an UMNO supporter, so I do understand if you are just No Action, Talk Only.

Malaysians prosper today because of the legacies and enterprises left behind by our forefathers who were building better lives for their descendants ,It is to their credit that we can still interact and trade amongst ourselves and prosper each other, our destinies and lives of all the ethnic communities , so intricately intertwined that in many instances , remove one link from the equation , the chain breaks.
Which is what distinguishes us as a nation with a diverse potpouri of ethnicities but collective identity. as Malaysian .

Bravo bryanbb…..you got it right mate…..the wheel will not spin and turn on its hinge if for instance our Malaysian Chinese and Malaysian Indians are asked to disrespectfully leave their mother country….Malaysia. Many thanks for the timely observation that this is a multi-racial, mosaic of a society where we cannot go it alone….take out one part and the whole collapses.
So the so called higher ups who spew hatred and cause a disruption of our ethic togetherness are talking pure bull-shit.
They should block up and ask the Almighty’s forgiveness. or go to hell themselves
Let’s hope Harmony is able to re-introduce the missing chords of a well- known musical song which is called… Malaysia.

Singa Terhormat,
Upon closer reading of the objectives of Harmony Malaysia, particularly sections 5,3 and 5,4, I get the impression that the Society will not limit itself to organising the typical joint feel-good initiatives that one might expect, gotong royong style. Rather, since the objectives mention education & awareness, as well as protecting the rights of all Malaysians based on truth & justice, there seems to be an underlying seriousness of purpose here. Might one, for instance, expect to see honest dialogue between all races and religions that make up our country? Would Harmony Malaysia also be taking positions on issues which are usually swept under the carpet, or dismissed as ‘sensitive’? Perhaps someone from HM might be able to give us more information on what it hopes to achieve.

Tebing tinggi,
, ‘respect each other’ ,then Malaysia will always in harmony’ . I fully agree with your statement as I’m sure you will agree with me that respect must be genuinely mutual and driven only by what is right and just to all. Read George Orwell’s “Animal Farm.” and you’ll get my drift.

tebing tinggi;
Yes what you said was true…that was before UMNO baru scumbags rule the land. They have wrecked our beautiful rainbow country….thus, ’Harmony Malaysia’ is required to savage back the goodwill among different races we once enjoyed. Just to make things easier for you to grasp, “Harmony Malaysia” is a social movement to bring love and respect among the various races. ABU is a political movement to bring back equality and and fairness to all Malaysians…along the way, ABU hopefully try to round up the rogues in the UMNO/BN coalition and pack them to Timbuktu!!
Another Anak Bangsa Malaysia, you are my mate of many talents!…as an atheist who can finely
define your belief against pretenders of religious faiths. Sekaran, a guru in Bahasa English!

wandererAUS,
I am no guru in Bahasa English. I just happen to remember my English lessons and I simply apply what I have learnt. No magic involved. 🙂
If you are after a guru in English, I can heartily recommend Lord Bobo at Loyar Burok – now that is one awesome entity before whom I abase myself.
Geez, I hope I get some purple bananas from His Awesomeness for that plug. I shall await humbly in supplication and with bowed head for them bananas 🙂
I consider myself to be just an average Malaysian who has some skills which I use to support Haris Ibrahim in his struggle for a fair and just Malaysia.

Another Anak Bangsa Malaysia
October 29, 2013
tebing tinggi,
Your sarcasm on “so much” promotion of harmony shows very clearly your false attitude towards respect amongst Malaysians.
You speak eloquently of noble principles like respect and harmony and peace amongst the races and religions in Malaysia.
When your bluff is called, you offer nothing except ridicule and hatred towards other races and religions in Malaysia.
You are so predictable 🙂

October 29, 2013
Why wandererAUS do you find my English flowery…..gosh it smells good! Besides I write quite simply you know. I may be cheeky at times, but it is just to spread goodwill. I think we need each to keep our own writing styles, it shows the type of person one is, sometimes, I guess.
Quite honestly my Bahasa Malaysia is not so grand. Just the basics, but I think it is a good language and it is good. You don’t even need a language for harmony…..a smile can work wonders….trouble is we forget the natural things because we have been conditioned to act a certain way. Inside of us we are the real persons…..agree mate?

I was once very convinced the best way to see a country living in “harmony” is having inter marriages. If I had another opportunity, I will not hesitate to marry a Malay Muslim lady…love is blind! I will make her the happiest lady having a Chinese Budhist husband!…that is Muhibah at its peak!
shakuntala and Another Anak Bangsa Malaysia, if you have passed the phase of marriage, let your children not shy away from this “mixed” sacred union of marriage . I live up to my conviction. I have 3 children inter married in my family….a small united nation!

In my extended family (cousins, brother-in-law, sister-in-law etc), I have Viking, Maltese, Austrian, English, Welsh, American, Malay, Dayak, Chinese and several others which I don’t know of. 🙂
There used to be an Egyptian in there but the less said about her the better.
As I am now single AND the extended family does not have an Indian, I am on the lookout for a pretty Indian girl to add to the set. Know any you could introduce to me? 🙂

what’s the difference between ” Saya Anak Bangsa Malaysia” where it’s promotes Malaysian as New “one” Race and Harmony Malaysia? I think it’s same – Promotes Harmony between all races.I believe you very much in Harmony with other Malaysian regardless race.

rajraman666,
Firstly, it’s not about questioning ABU but how you question ABU.
Why should I let anybody insult Haris Ibrahim and his struggle? Did you think I would sit here silently when I can do something about it?
Others can speak for themselves but I do not have a lot to offer ABU and the struggle for a fair and just Malaysia but when I can rebut plainly stupid accusations against ABU, I will.
Secondly, my understanding of SABM is that it is a nationalistic organisation, hence, it has political aims, whereas Harmony Malaysia is a cultural and social organistion without political ambitions.
Obviously, my views of SABM and Harmony Malaysia are based solely on my own understanding and without any in-depth analysis of each organisation.

These kind of organisation shows a crises in a society’s leadership – the Malaysian society leadership is largely in the hands of the political and the corporate leaders. Is it possible to effect change without changing the political and corporate? No way. But it does reaffirm the message that change is long overdue.

rajraman666,
Good grief!! It is called having a sense of humour, my dear rajraman666.
It was clearly flagged as humorous. It was used within the context of the then discussion to other commentators, and the privilege was not abused.
Re marriage, I don’t recall saying anything about marrying any future female companion I may have.
And just in case any other gender get their hopes up, I am strictly heterosexual 🙂 You can take that any way you like. 🙂
Re prostitutes, I have worked on social programs helping prostitutes improve their lives, and I don’t agree with the exploitation of men or women as prostitutes.
I grant that there are men and women who enjoy being paid for providing sex but I have found that they are usually very highly paid and enjoy a fabulous lifestyle. I have no problems with their choice of lifestyle..
The infinitely vast majority of prostitutes are ruthlessly exploited and I WILL NOT participate in the exploitation of another human being because he/she is weak, poor, uneducated or in desperate circumstances.
Frankly, I am quite shocked that you can, so casually and flippantly, suggest I should use the services of a prostitute.
I can only speculate that you feel prostitutes to be a lower class of human beings who can be exploited without regard.
Re being Haris’s blue-eyed boy, you should know that I have only ever met Haris Ibrahim once and spoke no more than 50 words to him that one time.
Total face-to-face time with Haris was approximately 1 minute, definitely less than 2 minutes.
I consider my presence here on Haris’s blog to be ranked at exactly the same level of importance as your presence, no more, no less.
If I write rubbish and nonsense, I can expect my comments to be rejected just like anybody else.
As a sign of goodwill, I will join you in wishing all Malaysians a very Happy Deepavali. 🙂

I ask a simple question. “Harmony to mistranslate the Bible is it.???”
Why no simple answer.???
Is it ok for you Christians,Haris, Singa Terhormat to permit mistranslation in the Bible.???
You guys allow for mistranslations that result to insults upon Allah isalm and Muslims, and then talk about harmony.Hippocrates.
You talk about freedom of speech yet you have deleted many of my comments.!!!

From my experience, neither Haris nor Singa arbitrarily rejects comments posted here. You must have been a bad boy in your postings for it to have been rejected. Do you think the words Christians and Bible belong exclusively to the Christians or the English Men ?
And you ,which is not in the above categories should use it ?
Don’t you think the word Haris belongs to someone called Haris and you must not use it ?
Don’t you agree that Haris need protection from others from using that proper noun?
Should the words Malay ,Chinese ,Indian ,Iban or Kadazan be protected by the laws from “mistranslations” ?
Who to pay for the enforcements of these laws?
Oil money ?
What if the oil wells in Malaysia no longer productive?
Do you want to pay for the enforcements of these law?

Pak Yeh,
Again, I am non-Muslim.
In the Quran , Allah Says: And I did not Create the jinn and HUMANS except they should worship Me.
Should the word HUMANS above be replaced with MUSLIMS?
And even now UMNO says ,on religious grounds,non-Muslim can use the word Allah in Sabah and Sarawak.
But for political reasons , they cannot bring it to the Peninsular Malaysia.

….even in Aussie land, Deepavalli lights are kept burning brightly and can be seen from far and wide. We have more than 120 different races living in the country with more than half a dozen of different religions. Yet, we live in peace and respect each others’ faiths. Why can’t Malaysia do just that!
In Bolehland, the lights are getting dimmer by the day and occasionally, need to be refilled to keep the light burning strongly. I am a Buddhist, a believer of peace…immaterial whichever faith we chose to follow, let us together keep the “light of love and peace” glowing in our hearts.
