Ex-CJ, Tun Abdul Hamid Mohamad  is reported, in substantiating his contention that Islam is under threat in Penang, to allege that an ex-mufti informed him that during the launch of a building in the state attended by a deputy chief minister, prayers were done by a Christian priest, a Hindu priest and the imam of the state mosque.

An article in Malaysia Chronicle reports the matter as:

“That during the opening of some building in Penang, in addition to prayers by Muslims, there were also prayers by Christians and Buddhists. The former CJ said that this was an example of the role of Islam under the Constitution being usurped by other religions.”

Seriously Hamid?

You have problems with those of other faiths reciting their own prayers?

You mean they must not be allowed to pray at the formal opening of a building?

What exactly is eating you, man?

Or do you mean that the prayers of different faiths should not be carried out at the same place?

What exactly is your grouse?

As an ex-CJ, can you tell me if there is any law that prohibits it?

Maybe, if you are unsure, you can at one of your family functions ask the Attorney-General, Gani Patail, for help.  He will come to your aid I am sure, after all his son is your son-in-law, from what I hear.

Birds of a feather?

Anyway, guess what, Hamid?

Going by your twisted and perverse logic, Islam is also under threat in the whole of Malaysia and this situation is being aided and abetted by the Federal Government under the control of the Barisan Nasional.

Yes Hamid, that Government.

Why do I say so?

Coincidentally last night (22nd July, 2014) the Primer Minister’s Department organised an event  “Multi-Faith Prayers for Victims of MH17” at the KL & Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall where invitations to participate were issued to those of all faiths by the Pengarah of the Bahagian Hal Ehwal Agama, Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional, Jabatan Perdana Menteri.

Yes, seriously Hamid.

They had a session where prayers of those of various faiths were conducted and organised by the Barisan Nasional Government. And to top it off, a department headed by Najib.

You can read about this in The Rakyat Times.

So is the BN Government undermining Islam in this country Hamid?

And doing so during the holy month of Ramadhan too?

Tsk! Tsk! Now what will you say next, Hamid?

Go back to those Islamic NGOs and tell them to condemn Najib and Barisan Nasional? Please do let us know.

Oh! By the way Hamid, I wrote this piece for free. Yes, no payment involved. Not a cent.

Certainly nothing even remotely close to the Ringgit Ten Thousand per month and car and driver thrown in that was demanded by you of the Federal Government to head the National Committee to Promote Understanding and Harmony.
