Treat the symptoms or rid the cancer?

Stage 3.

These are the symptoms.

I reckon the first signs of this cancer showed up some time in the 60’s, when the unconstitutional  notion of Bumi / non-Bumi was introduced into the national psyche.

Divide and rule, remember?

Then, round about 1973, the Alliance morphed into Barisan Nasional, bringing on board, amongst others, the ethnic based parties of Sabah and Sarawak to work with the pioneering trio : equally ethnic-based UMNO, MCA and MIC.

Now well and truly divided.

Stage 1 of the disease had set in.

On 16th July, 1981, the nation began to transition between stage 1 and stage 2.

On that fateful day, this nation was cursed when Dr M was sworn in as Prime Minister.

During his 22 year rule, the cancer spread fast and furious, crippling and rendering impotent the most important institutions of state, creatures of the constitution intended to allow democracy, good governance and human rights to take root and flourish in this fledgling nation.

2003, enter Pak Lah.

For a while, it appeared as if the cancer was in remission.

Yes, only for a while.

In truth, stage 3 had set in.

Nepotism, cronyism, money politics,  very much the order of the day during stage 2, was now taken to new heights.

The days of million ringgit deals were a thing of the past.

Najib and 1MDB?

They are but symptoms and signs that we are verging into stage 4.

A failed state.

The cancer?

An UMNO/BN that has long ceased to care about the state of the nation or the well-being of her people.

Leaders intent only on enriching themselves, robbing and pillaging the wealth of the nation.

Has the cancer gone too far and deep that this nation is doomed and damned?

Who can?

Who will?

What will it take?

Treat the symptoms or rid this nation of the cancer?
