OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIn KK right now and caught you live on TV yesterday evening.

Taking in all that you said yesterday, against the backdrop of all that has taken place since last Sunday, and the story making its rounds that Azmin and Gang, to your total exclusion, were working on their dastardly plan, reminds me of the following words usually attributed to Abraham Lincoln :

“You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time”

I want to pick up on three things you said yesterday that caught my attention.

“Politics, politicians, and political parties prioritise politics too much to the point they forget the country is facing economic and health problems that threaten the country”

Too right.

“I believe, right or wrong, politics and political parties must be set aside for now”

This world would be a better place if this were indeed possible.

“If I am allowed, I will try to form an administration that doesn’t side with any party. Only national interests will be prioritised”

National interests prioritised?

Malay dignity congress?

Would it surprise you to know that many, many Malaysians of all ethnicities are tired of the race and religion politics that you appear to still subscribe to?

That for many of us, uplifting the lives of the many B40 families, regardless of race and religion, is a matter of national priority?

And not the third national car?

Your proposed solution to the current governmental crisis would have us place the shaping of our national interests in your hands, and your hands alone.

Please forgive me.

I do not trust you enough to see that happen.
