RESEARCH REPORT ON FIXED TERM PARLIAMENT
On the 6th anniversary of GE14, a watershed election that saw the change of federal government for the first time in our nation’s history, Projek SAMA is pleased to release our research report on Fixed Term Parliament, a research written by our member Mr Wo Chang Xi.
It is a study of eight legislatures from democracies around the world, looking at variants of how different countries implement fixed terms to enhance stability and predictability.
Political stability and viability of government post-GE14 has never been more needed and urgent. Our proposal for Malaysia to introduce a Fixed Term Parliament Act is an attempt to introduce a solution to achieve stability by strengthening parliamentary democracy.
