Got a call from lil hummingbird.
“We must meet. RPK is in danger.”
We met.
“You look like shit!”, he said.
“I feel like that as well”, I replied.
“You remember when RPK was in remand at Sungai Buloh the last time and he refused to eat or drink and the prison authorities got so worried that they begged his wife to get him out?
“Well, RPK is on hunger strike again. No food and no water. The authorities know that his kidneys will not be able to take this for long too long. They are going to let this carry on in the hope that complications set in and that he will suffer organ malfunction.
“That’s why even though there are news reports that Teresa’s family will be allowed to see her, probably tomorrow, there is no word that RPK’s family will be allowed the same. Lawyers have already written asking that they be permitted to meet with RPK but no word yet.
“They’re going to wait until his condition is critical before they get him medical attention. By then it will be too late. RPK would already be dead.
“That’s what they are banking on. They’ll say he brought it on himself.
“You people can hold all the vigils you want. That’s not going to get him out.
“Pakatan have to move now. Anwar has to stop this nonsense of waiting for enough Malay MPs to crossover before he seeks the audience with the Agong to intimate that Pak Lah has lost the confidence of the majority of MPs in Parliament. Didn’t the rakyat reject race-based politics at the last general elections and at Permatang Pauh? Go form the federal government now.
“Anwar has the numbers already, so he should not delay any longer.
“RPK has been without food or water since Friday. He’s not going to last long.
“We must get him out now. Otherwise the authorities will be returning him to us in a coffin!
And we can only get RPK out now if Pakatan takes over immediately”.

GET THE SELANGOR ROYALTY..THIS IS SERIOUS
Muhammad Firdaus Christopher
September 15, 2008
Dear brother,
I read with deep concern regarding this and quite honestly, I felt the same during my discussions with my comrades and family members. I do agree that Datuk Seri has to move now and the longer we prolong, it will have dire consequences on Pete. We immediately need to make arrangements to have Pete’s private doctor be granted access in the meantime to ensure that his health is not jeorpadize.
In the meantime, I would suggest that we directly organize a meeting with Datuk Seri Anwar to voice our concerns so that swift actions could be taken. Can this be done and I mean NOW ?
Lets us all, anak2 Bangsa Malaysia, do something that matters most for our beloved brother.
Warm Regards,

Just a few of us fishing at the Wharf just now and an idea came off from Penang’s closure of 3 National Service Camps because they did not obtain local authority approval.
Question to you Haris, although I am aware you have considered this.
Can any of the State laws be used to shut down Kamunting?
After all it would seem like a Pakatan Rakyat ruled state is the one that is that is housing the Kamunting Camp for ISA detainees.
If Pakatan are serious about revoking the ISA, they don’t have to wait till they take over the Federal Government, do they?
Can’t they use the National Land Code or The Land Acquisition Act to compulsorily acquire the land from the Federal Government. They could always turn it into a museum, Like the Asian version of Auschwitz maybe. Am sure that can bring in some well needed Tourist dollars. So you see there is a public use intention for the land. Or alternatively just Gazette the whole piece of land for educational use.
If Pakatan is serious. Now let us get really serious.
They can next also make sure National Service camps in their states are closed if they don’t posses the necessary planning approvals. And shut them down permanently at that. Just frustrate the commencement of the next session of the National Service.
I hope word will get out to Pete that we are all eagerly waiting for him out here. He can’t let us down. Going on hunger strike will not do.

it is also speculated that turmoil has besieged Umno, with a faction within the party forming a ādream teamā against party leader Abdullah and his deputy, Najib.
āIt would reunite two of the biggest rivals UMNO has ever seen – Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah. And go beyond that,ā said Singaporeās bilingual MyPaper in a report on Friday – the day the crackdown was launched.
Former UMNO president Mahathir had quit the party in March and vowed to return only when his successor Abdullah is no longer at the helm.
mahathir pc 260608 05The report stated that last Saturdayās meeting of āUmno veteransā was not merely an effort to bring back Mahathir, but would also change the power equation in UMNO and put the 2010 transition plan in jeopardy.
āMahathir will now reportedly throw his support behind Tengku Razaleigh, the man who came closest to defeating him in an UMNO election.
āMuhyiddin, who has publicly said Abdullah should not wait until 2010 to step down, could be Tengku Razaleighās running mate in this Dream Team.ā
However, the report claimed that Muhyiddin has told friends he would be more than happy to step back for Rais Yatim, the veteran foreign minister.
According to the report, the ādream teamā would also include Mahathirās son Mukhriz, who will be gunning for the UMNO Youth chief post in Decemberās party polls.
tengku razaleigh forum 260408 ku li speakingThe newspaper also quoted a Razaleigh aide as saying that the prospects of a ādream teamā is giving the incumbent leaders sleepless nights.
āWith the support of Mahathir, Muhyiddin and Rais, Tengku Razaleigh will definitely get the minimum number of nominations needed to contest the No 1 post,ā said the aide, who was not named.
Quoting sources, MyPaper also reported that Najib was so worried that he sought an appointment to see Mahathir and the duo met early last week.
āThere have been no press reports on the meeting, but MyPaper understands that Mahathir made it clear to Najib that he was āquite committedā to the dream team,ā read the report.

Dear Haris,
So what can we do man? After reading this, my anger toward those who issued the order to imprison RPK is replaced by gloom and frustration.
At the candlelight vigil for Teresa at Sri Desa Entrepreneurās Park this evening, most of the people who attended were of a sombre mood. I too was not in a mood for conversation. Uncle Kit made a speech about the draconian ISA and strongly told the government to release both Teresa and RPK immediately. At that moment I was wondering where they could have taken Pete and Teresa. Deep down I had a feeling that Pete would be one who will be the worse off of the two. It cross my mind that they might punish him severely in detention, both physically and mentally. Now that we hear that he is punishing himself with a hunger strike just take the cake.
We have to get an approval from the PM so that someone could visit him. At least his wife Marina. Why is this Bugisman so damn thick headed.
DSAI must form the new government ASAP. RPK has helped him in no small way on his journey to the August House. Should anything untoward happens to Pete, either by self infliction or otherwise just because of intentional delay to form the new Federal Government, the wrath of at least 10million Malaysian will decend on Anwar. However, I think the PM-in-waiting knows full well the urgency of the matter. There will surely be statements concerning RPK from the various YB in attendance at the Kelana Jaya Stadium tomorrow. This hunger strike is freaking us out.
Last but not least, THANK YOU HARIS IBRAHIM for keeping us posted.

FOR all sorts of reasons,
ex-Malaysian premier Mahathir
Mohamadās return
to the Umno party is bad news
for Prime Minister Abdullah
Badawi.
āDr Mā left Umno, the dominant
party in the ruling coalition,
after the March elections ā
while remaining sharply critical
of Mr Abdullahās leadership.
But while he was on the outside,
Mr Abdullah could ignore
his criticisms as those of a voice
in the wilderness.
Now that heās back, as opposition
figure Datuk Nik Aziz Nik
Mat gleefully said yesterday, āit
will be exciting to see him creating
chaos… Iām excited as this
will weaken Umno.ā
Yet Dr Mās return means a
lot more than that. As his return
became known, many party figures
signalled support.
More importantly, Dr Mahathir
has decided to back Tengku
Razaleigh Hamzah, who
wants to challenge Mr Abdullah
in Decemberās party polls.
Until now, Tengku Razaleigh
faced a critical barrier: To
stand, a candidate must earn
nominations from a fifth of the
Umno divisions. His base is in
Kelantan, but he needs more divisions
elsewhere to join him.
With Dr Mahathir, who is
from Kedah state, in his corner,
his chances improve.
Even more importantly, as
my paper special correspondent
Ahirudin Attan reports today,
Dr Mahathirās return could solidify
a āDream Teamā of Umno
heavyweights that would pit
themselves against Mr Abdullah
and his remaining loyalists.
If so, the nomination barrier
would be smashed. Even the loyalties
of Mr Abdullahās deputy,
Najib Razak, may be questionable,
suggests Mr Ahirudin ā despite
the deal struck for him to
take charge in 2010.
The idea was to avert any contest.
But come an actual leadership
vote, anything could happen.

To the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
RE: Raja Petra Kamaruddin, detained under the Internal Security Act, on hunger strike
I/We am/are writing to urge for your urgent action on the case of Raja Petra Kamaruddin, editor of Malaysia Today who was arrested and detained in Malaysia on 12 September 2007 under Section 73 (1) of the Internal Security Act (ISA) on spurious allegations of having deemed a āthreat to security, peace and public order.ā
On 12 September 2008, Malaysia police arrested online commentator Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin, who is a well-known anti-government activist, under the Internal Security Act, a widely criticized law that provides for the arrest and indefinite detention of those suspected of threatening national security.
Later the same day, a Malaysian opposition lawmaker, Teresa Kok, and Tan Chee Hoon, a reporter with Chinese-language daily newspaper were also arrested and detained under the ISA.
Tan Hoon Cheng was subsequently released 20 hours later on September 13. According to Malaysian Minister of Home Affairs, Tan was arrested under the ISA because her life was under threat.
The Malaysian Police has reported that it will allow family members of Opposition lawmaker, Teresa Kok, detained under the ISA, to visit her at an undisclosed location on Monday, 15 September 2008.
Meanwhile, de facto law minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim has stated that the ISA should not be used against civilians, at a press conference at his home on Sunday, 14 September 2008. He was commenting on the arrests of the three civilians – Malaysian lawmaker Teresa Kok, Malaysia Today editor Raja Petra Kamarudin and Sin Chew Daily reporter Tan Hoon Cheng — under the ISA.
It is being reported today, 15 September 2008, that Raja Petra Kamaruddin is on a hunger strike. His lawyers have written requesting that they be permitted to meet with Raja Petra Kamaruddin but there has been no response yet from the authorities. It is feared that Raja Petra is being denied medical attention and his family and lawyers are seriously concerned about his health and well-being.
I/We call upon you to take up the case of Raja Petra Kamaruddin with the government of Malaysia as a matter of special and urgent concern. In view of the courageous stand that this man took for the basic human rights of all citizens of Malaysia, and given his medical condition, his case deserves urgent attention. I/We also urge you to take up with the government of Malaysia the use of the ISA as a weapon to unjustly incarcerate innocent persons who challenge the wrongdoing of government politicians and officials.
I thank you for your attention to this matter and look forward to your speedy intervention.
Yours sincerely

I read this with much concern. I hope the Home Minister understands that he is party to conspiracy to murder if anything happens to RPK. That is the minimum the new Government must charge him with, knowing that the condition RPK is in and doing nothing. Also all the goons that are holding him must also be charged for conspiracy to murder if they too do nothing and deny medical access to RPK so that his condition can be monitored.
We will continue to pray for his safety.

I was travelling from UK to Malaysia when I heard upon arrival that RPK is held under ISA. Shocked. Stunned.
Some people accused RPK of cooking up stories based on fiction, but if anything else, this arrest have proven that RPK knows exactly what he is talking about, and bases his writings and exposures on facts and reliable informants.
Therefore, this country can longer tolerate such perverted sense of power in its government and police force.
The people have the power to react. So bloody hell, REACT!
I would like to see more than 30000 Malaysians at the Kelana Jaya stadium tonight. To walk the talk, and to give voice to the man who sacrificed all, and to the men and women being held under the regime of UMNO. This is it people. The time has arrived. Proof that you appreciate every essence of what Merdeka stands for!
Tonight, we celebrate OUR Independance Day!

Dear Haris,
Thank you very much for this latest message about our YM RPK.
You & your “lil’ Humming Bird” are doing a great job to keep us anxious supporters informed & I am confident this urgent message will be heard by all, “Loud & Clear” with “Positive ramification actions” to follow….
My prayers to God Almighty to Bless, Protect, Guide & give YM RPK, Marina & family, His Devine care and the strength to persevere in this trying time.
Also for His Devine care to Theresa, the other ISA detainees, including their beloved families.
As they say, “When the Going gets tough, the Tough gets going & God helps those that help themselves”.
Hereās one Divine Intervention – God Almighty is Benevolent and Merciful….
Malaysiakini – Beh Lih Yi | Sep 14, 08 2:42pm – Quote – āLaw minister threatens to quit over ISAā¦.
De facto Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim today threatened to resign if the government continues to use the Internal Security Act, which allows detention without trial, against any individuals. ā Unquote.
“Devine Intervention” works wonders & with the “Anarchy” developing within their ranks of “Wannabe Younger UMNO Heroes” vs the “Righteous Leaders”, they are having their own āEnemiesā from within !
PM & DPM have lost the “Plot” altogether & this “UMNO Anarchy” will be the “Mother of the BN Self-Desruct” mechanism in full action.
Just give them more rope to “Hang” themselves at every turn towards their “Demise” soon.
We have to be vigilant, stay UNITED, stay calm, have Faith in God Almighty for His Blessings, Protection & Guidance so that we will not fall into the BN “Chaos Trap”.

We also hope that they are thinking on the same line but tokiorain, they ain’t that smart. If they are smart, they would not have arrested Sin Chew Reporter Tan in the first place and Syed Al-blur would not have to be in a difficult situation now.

RPK’s wife Marina should be allowed immediately to see her husband. If Theresa Kok’s family is allowed, then there should be no double standards bu the police. Hell, does anyone, even RPK’s lawyers know where RPK is being held? Sungai Buloh? or at Bukit Aman. Someone must know? Some “kind” police personnel should be able to reveal where RPK is now ??!!!
Hope our defender all Malaysians will use his common sense the he needs to survive. This man is colour blind and connected to the royal. He speaks for the rights of all Malaysians regardless of race, creed or religion. He is the embodiment of what 51 years of our nation building should be – free of corruption, transparent and just govt, accountability etc..etc. He is the “Martin Luther King” for all Malaysians. Immediate action that can be taken immediately:
1. Call for a press conference, maybe you could do it under People’s Parlaiment banner, alert all the NGO’s and opposition. Express great concern and don’t forget to invite international media.
2. Need to request immediate audience with Selangor Sultan. RPK is from this royalty. They would intervene as they would not allow him to die. If possible request audience with YDP Agong and other royalties to alert them. If Agong is concern he will summon the clueless PM and fu*k him real good.
3. Send memorandum to SUHAKAM and invite all press. Make as much noise as possible.
4. Get decent UMNO MPs to help immediately like Zaid. Maybe Ong Tee Keat, Fong Chan Onn.. they were quite vocal recently. Also alert Wong Chun Wai.
5. Pray like hell.

Dear Haris,
I am very concerned with news that RPK is not taking food or drink, this is bad, real bad! My heart is pounding and my hands are shaking. We love RPK and we cannot let him waste away. He must stay alive for his family and the Rakyat if he truely care about us and the future of Malaysia. Please get this message to RPK if it is possible.
Yes, it is critical that Anwar make a move now towards forming a new Federal Government. Like RPK said, his release and therefore his life and death depends on Anwar forming the next government. Can you get through to Anwar and tell it to him that the rakyat do not agree with him to wait till he has the number of Malay MPs to cross over before he makes the move. Form the government with those that he already has in hand and then get the so called Malay MPs to cross over. That should be the strategy. Unless of course, he does not have the numbers as claimed. Please tell him on his face, we don’t mind waiting but for RPK’s sake, he can’t afford to wait a day longer and RPK’s life depends on his taking over the Federal Government on 16 Sept as scheduled. Don’t disappoint the rakyat as as RPK has the confidence that Anwar will deliver.
Yes, we all agreed with you that it is nonsense and full of incongruency with Anwar talking about non raced base politics when he insists on waiting for enough Malay MPs to crossover before he forms the next Federal Government. Yes, Anwar will have to take action now or never for Pete’s Sake. Please tell Anwar, we, the rakyat will not forgive him if he fails to intervene at this crucial moment.
Glad to note that you have made contact with some of the diplomats. I know you will persist to get substantial numbers of them to talk sense to Pak Lah.
Can you also try to get the Sultan of Selangor to intervene to save RPK’s life?
Plea..eeessssss…..eeeeeee Haris, do whatever within your mean to get the other powerful and influencial persons to intervene. I know you will because you like us, love RPK.
Thank you, Haris.

Sometimes we have to fight our own fight. While I understand the rationale for writing to the foreign agencies etc., it is a slow process. And the Govt may just ignore or turn a deaf ear.
What we need is to rally around certain personality or forces within. I am not in a position to influence anyone to heed my call, maybe some of you key bloggers can. Haris, for example. I suggest that we ‘make’ Zaid Ibrahim the point man in this urgent quest. Rally around him. Support him to the fullest so that he can stand up against the might of the rest of the UMNO goons in the Cabinet. Show that the rakyat is strongly behind him. I think he is our best bet at the moment to move things positively before it’s too late for RPK.

Haris,
Yes. Pakatan must move now.
Pakatan should use all their resources to verify whether what lil hummingbird said is true.
If it is true then Pakatan should just move on to take over the government if they ready have the numbers of MP crossing over.
Please do this for RPK. The longer the delay the closer RPK will be towards death if what lil hummingbird said is true.
Pakatan as well as we Rakyat own so much to RPK for what he has done in bringing the change. As such RPK’s safety should be right at the top of the lists of the next move to be taken by Pakatan.
I would also like to appeal to Pakatan to consider to call off tonight gathering at Kelana Jaya if it does not help immediately the taking over of the government.
Further more there is some much uncertainties how BN would act when you are turning the celebration into anti- ISA gathering. I presume the police permit was issued for the celebration and not anti-ISA. Please read also malaysiawatchch4.blogspot.com in relation to this.

Sorry to say this mei1: Most Malaysians still has not gathered the courage to sign petitions. This is evident from the lukewarm response received by the petition seeking to the King for judiciary reform. Only around 25,000 people signed it even after Haris and RPK did multiple postings on their respective sites urging.., almost begging Malaysians to sign from months ago. I guess many people would still like to play it safe while letting others fight their battle and then enjoy the benefits of others labours.
Sigh…! When will these people wake up… to say that I am frustrated and dissappointed will be an understatement.

This is the Tanah that his darah bertumpah.
Should the worse happen, and he succumbs to his expected incarceration, God will welcome him into Paradise.
UMNO will no longer have any moral right to be in existence. Remember he is an Anak Raja, ok!
But should that occur, remember what he said. Do not go out to the streets. Should this happen, then I would like to respectfully “BEG” all of you to go home and stay home for a week. A HARTAL in sorrow for our leader.
(Please inform you employers that you will not be coming in to work, as if you do not show up for 2 days, you could be considered as have resigned from your job. You could even tell your employer that you are a suspected denggi case, so go and check urself into the nearest hospital).
Pass the message to every UMNO person that you meet. Tell them that they better ensure that RPK lives. Else you will support a HARTAL where you will not go to the streets, but you will stay at home (or in hospital becoz u r possibly a DENGGI victim, and need to be placed under observation).

Dear Datuk Seri
If PR has the numbers in terms of the requisite MPs, pls, just do it. Do the cross over & save this great nation, & its wonderful ppl. The longer we wait, even a day, the harder it seems to get. And more good people are sacrificed & victimised along the wayā¦.
Many ppl comment that the present Gov is crumbling. Mayb Badawi is. Perhaps even UMNO. But pls, never under-estimate their ability to consolidate their position. Esp when the going gets tough. Esp when Mahathir still lurks around the corner waiting to make his killer moves – if he hasnāt begun already.
Datu Seri, if you are playing chess with say, Bobby Fisher, and you happen to chance upon some moves that would check mate him in two steps, why delay the conclusion of the game any further? Such a player, wily & cunning, if you donāt mate him within those moves, will find his way out, somehow.
And that is precisely what UMNO & Mahathir are capable of. Do not think that TDM is just sitting behind his computer & blogging the night away. You took him on once in your UMNO days. And he nearly obliterated you – not just with might, but with wicked cunningness. This was seen when he released the so-call ācrony name listā in that particular UMNO Gen Assembly where your then rising star finally fell.
May I offer that you do it today? Sept 16, whilst symbolic, will remain just that to many Malaysians, at the rate this Govān is moving in for the kill. It is time for action now. Gen Patton didnāt continue to offer his famous āSpeech to the Third Armyā forever; the very next moment, he was at the beaches of Normandy together with the rest of the Aliied Forces.
We need to descend on our own āNormandyā now.
Today.
We are facing our own D-Day. The existence & securing of those 30 or so MPs is crucial, just as securing the beach head was in WW2.
Datuk Seri, when PR MPs left for Taiwan to strategise their next moves with the BN MPs, I wondered why that was necessary. Especially if PR has been consistently stating that they are sure of having the numbers & forming the Govān. At the back of my mind, & even when I discuss with a few other ppl, is every thing already water-tight? If so, why was there a necessity to drop in to secure etc the targeted MPs? If we had the numbers, why donāt we just make the move?
I am sorry, but when I saw the smirk on Najibās face on TV last week, when he was asked what he thought of PR MPs going over to Taiwan, there was nary a hint of anxiety on him. It looked as tho he was cock sure that the take-over of the Gov is not going to happen. He aināt stupid – not when it comes to political survival; heās the Defence Minister – we must not under-estimate his intelligence network.
Your request for a meet with Badawi, well, thereās only 2 things that I believe you can discuss at this moment. One – really discuss national security. Knowing Badawi & UMNO & their mindset, thereās no way the goons are going to agree to meet up with PR, especially your team. I canāt imagine Badawi running this thru this suggestion with Khairy, & the latter giving a āOk Pop. Letās do itā. I mean, they are not interested in National Security, peace, prosperity etc. The only thing they care about is their own survival.
Two – you are meeting Badawi to request the handover. But once again, I doubt Badawi is simply going to roll the red carpet & welcome with you with a cherry laden smile, & say, āOk. Iāll step down.ā
No way Datuk Seri – this is UMNO we are talking about here.
And so Datuk Seri, looking at how the events are developing & unfolding, I hope you & PR would do what you plan, sooner. If indeed, you can.
I hope to be wrong in my present lack of enthusiasm, but that is the least of the worries for many Malaysians who have pinned their hopes & dreams on PR & Sep 16.
God bless this great nation, & may He have mercy on us.

Haris,
This is a seriously gone wrong move by a bad gomen’s dastardly act toward RPK, who fought for truth, justice and fairness relentlessly. He is putting his life on the line and he will not relent even it meant causing his own life; his principle of strength of awesome stubbornness and the goons are using that to their abuse put him down. We cannot allow RPK’s fight for the Rakyat to go the way it is going. Haris, as well suggested by sam to go to international institutions, we have to go many other ways, peaceful but forceful. Those power that be will be responsible should any serious happen to RPK and many other detained under this repressive evil ISA.
Those MPs in the government esp the BN gomen and if you are right-minded or having some little good left in you, should not accomodate tyranny rule and should come out oppose this gravely misdeeds. Trust the Rakyat will not taking this wrong-doing as any other normal day if anything life-threatening to YM RPK. The wrath facing RPK will be the abusing gomen’s OWN MIRROR.

Folks, I know we are angry and we are deeply concerned for RPK. Lets put our differences and theories aside. We are either with RPK in this moment of his struggle and need or we are not. We can keep our angry comments for other threads. But lets do something now. We can do something, we can do it the legal and right way and it does stand a chance. lets do everything we can. lets not be angry or afraid although we have every right to be so.
The vigils, the lawyers’ actions, the letters to our politicians, the letters to our king and the letters to governments and world bodies like the UN or the European Commission, OIC, ASEAN, whichever multilateral body you can think of…its worth a try, there is no harm, at least we can say we did something to save RPK…we need to put the pressure…
…and if all these efforts fail, and if RPK dies, we write to the ICJ, the IWCT…
Lets not bicker now, we have a lot of time for that later, lets do what we can to save RPK now…if nothing else, put the pressure on the malaysian gomen…

Until we get word from Marina herself, we must remain calm and not baited into a situation where the Bolehland tyrants can use against the Rakyat such as was pre-warned by RPK himself.
Know that he fought and sacrifice his freedom, knowing well that he may die in prison so that we ( the rakyat ) will get to see the new Malaysia.
We must now concentrate to ensure that Pakatan Rakyat achieves its takeover in a non-violent, non-racial manner; which would immediately trigger his release…
So keep cool, do not react with heated emotions and do something stupid which may jeopardize things!
look at Steven Ee who went around collecting signatures from 189 non-muslim residents to lower the sound of loudspeakers at the mosque because he wanted āwake up late for extra rest after a long weekās workā. This selfish action and lack of tolerance and respect of another race…
He copied the insensive petition to Teresa and because Teresa did not take any action ( for or against ), she was locked up for plotting the scheme!
So take heed not to get into any situation which may cause further delay or hurt the Pakatan’s takeover…

Personally, I think RPK should not go on a hunger strike. Someone said, “he who fights and run away lives to fight another day”. If RPK wants to continue this fight, and we want him to, then he needs to stay healthy while under remnad. He can take a position of disobedience, like what Mahatma Gandhi did, but he needs to stay healthy. It will be a shame to not be able to see the fruit of his labour.
Cheers.

Dear Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman,
We write to you today regarding the arrests of Raja Petra Kamaruddin, Ms. Tan Hoon Cheng, and Ms. Teressa Kok on 12 September 2008. All three were arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA).
Raja Petra Kamaruddin was arrested at around 1:10 pm from his home in Sungai Buloh allegedly by police personnel from Bukit Aman. Raja Petra Kamaruddin is the founder of the website Malaysia Today where he posted articles linking Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife to the murder of a Mongolian national, Atlantuya Shaariibuu.
Ms. Tan Hoon Cheng, a journalist, was arrested at around 8:30 pm from her home in Bukit Mertajam. She had previously written an article reporting the racist statements of Ahmad Ismail, a member of the ruling party, United Malays National Organisation (UMNO). She reported that Ahmad Ismail making a statement that Chinese Malaysians are āsquattersā in the country.
Ms. Teressa Kok, a Member of Parliament, was arrested at around 11:18 pm as she was making her way back to her apartment. Ms. Teressa Kok had been reported recently to have claimed that she had requested the mosque officials of Kota Damansara, Sri Serdang, and Puchong Jaya to tone down the call to prayer. She has, however, denied these allegations.
Ms. Tan Hoon Cheng was released at 4:15 pm on 13 September 2008. Raja Petra Kamaruddin and Ms. Teressa Kok are still under police custody and their whereabouts are unknown. We have information that both of them have been denied access to their lawyers.
We also have information that the government has a list of 16 additional persons who will be arrested under the ISA.
We would like to point out that under Section 4(2)(d) of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia Act (1999), the SUHAKAM has the power āto visit places of detention in accordance with procedures as prescribed by the laws relating to the places of detention and to make the necessary recommendations.ā
It is in this light that we strongly urge the SUHAKAM to use its power to visit detention places to ascertain the whereabouts of Raja Petra Kamaruddin and Ms. Teressa Kok, ensure their well-being, and secure their release.
We would like to point out that under the Paris Principles, a national human rights institution (NHRI) should have the responsibility to draw āthe attention of the Government to situations in any part of the country where human rights are violated and making proposals to it for initiatives to put an end to such situations x x x.ā
We therefore strongly urge the SUHAKAM to demonstrate that it is indeed in compliance with the Paris Principles and conduct investigations on the arrests of Raja Petra Kamaruddin, Ms. Tan Hoon Cheng, and Ms. Teressa Kok. We also strongly urge the SUHAKAM to secure an assurance from the government that no further arrests under the ISA will be made.
Finally, we strongly urge the SUHAKAM to proactively advocate the government of Malaysia to abolish the ISA for being in clear violation of international human rights law.
We sincerely hope that the SUHAKAM will take these events as an opportunity to show proof that it is indeed worthy of being accorded an āAā status by the International Coordinating Committee (ICC). We urge the SUHAKAM to demonstrate that it is truly a national human rights institution earnest in its pursuit to promote and protect human rights in the country.
We look forward to your response on this matter. Please email us at hrd@forum-asia.org or contact us at +66 2 653 2940.

Dear Haris,
Why can’t RPK’s cousin, the Sultan of Selangor, go see him.
I am sure the authorities can’t refuse the sultan. After all, he’s a relative and a sultan.
Take care will you.

We respect the sultans and our beloved Agong. However,If they are sitting there looking after their personal interest and welfare of them and their families than they are sadly mistaken. I thing they should start reading these comments and the feelings of their citizens and act upon them by their conscience.Remember the King is regarded as “The fountain of justice”
Next the ISA should not be repealed until all those corrupt politicians, murderers, rapist and child molesters are put to serve their sentence under this draconian law.I am sure you might say some crooks may not come under the purview of ISA; but what the heck? These crooks just put in anybody who exposes or is a threat to their scheming plots under the ISA, so why not the new government? For example look at the guy who called the chinese as pendatang, isn’t he walking free?Instead they put the journalist in.
After ISA these crooked fellas should be put in Sg. Buloh, and use just any excuse under the law or out of law (as it is happening now)
Next the new government should never ever forget and forgive these crooks. Why? Can’t anyone realise the atrocities created by them repeatedly. They never even respected the citizen’s plea and were totally arrogant.REMEMBER!!!! They have also RAPED the nation’s wealth. You know what is the punishment for rapists?-“SULA”
The police chiefs should start to think that they are POLIS DIRAJA MALAYSIA and not POLIS UMNO MALAYSIA. EVEN IF THE citzens WERE FORCED DOWN NOW,THEY WIL RISE EVEN HIGHER IN THE FUTURE.I think they should read their history books.
A WORD OF ADVICE FOR YOU UMNO GUYS AND THE POLICE. “LEAVE NOW THE PIRATE SHIP OF UMNO AND BOARD THE SHIP OF FREEDOM, EQUALITY, TOLERENCE RESPECT AND HONESTY AS THIS SHIP WILL TAKE THIS NATION TO PROSPERITY.
Iam just an individual who is all for justice peace and equality. I do not belong to PKR DAP PAS PSM UMNO, MCA MIC. SO WHOEVER READS THIS DON’T SPECULATE. BUT I HAVE ONE PARTY CLOSE TO MY HEART AND THIS LETTER WILL TELL.

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition

I personally agree with what this petition says, and I think you might
agree, too. If you can spare a moment, please take a look, and consider
signing yourself.
Best wishes,

mei1,
Please acept my deepest condolences for the loss of your beloved father. I am sure he is a very good man.
I have already signed the petition in your link and forwarded it to my friends. I can assure you that around 90 of them will sign it off by tonight. But try as I might, I just could not make some people I know to show enough care or committment to sign these petitions. The fear of authorities is ingrained in their minds. That is the source of my frustration.
Take care mei and let us all hope and pray for the deliverance from the Evil BN.

Hi Sam, my concern to RPK is not just because of the demise of my dad, but for the sake of nation. I feel that it’s our duty as a citizen of Malaysia to care what’s going on instead of the selfish ‘tidak apa’ attitude.
Tian Chua said that DSAI will announce to take over the government either tonight or tomorrow, does it mean that we can put an end to various petitions or vigil?
Will wait & see what’s going on next. Fingers crossed & Cheers!

Only time will tell. The recent ISA debacle is probably the tipping point, where everyone now clearly sees the hanky-panky going on.

Sam, I hope you don’t mind me using your sample letter and list of contacts to mail/e-mail. I took the liberty of posting them here – http://forums.techarp.com/adrian-wong/24663-will-pakatan-rakyat-rush-remove-abdullah-badawi.html. Thanks!

mei1, DSAI did not announce the takeover. I think there will be delay as it seems they want to “nego” with the government for a peaceful handover.

Hi Adrian, though there’s no definite day being announced last night, I still have the faith that the takeover will happen soon. Anyway, Cheers for National Day (I’m still wearing the red wrist band “Malaysia Tanah Airku”)!

Hi Viveg, didn’t realise that I overlooked your msg yesterday. Yes, I would say that my dad was a good person despite of his old mindset of change. I still recall that he said the opposition couldn’t bring much of changes as the ruling has been ruling for 51 years on 308 but then he was ‘scolded’ by my brother & I.
Fear of authorities is one point. Another one is as mentioned above, “none of my business” attitude. I used to be one of them but I had waken up since a couple of years ago when I started to follow up the goings-on of the nation. Long story though.

Hi Haris
Let’s pray in our own way for RPK.I firmly believed good will eventually triumphed over evil.
āBe yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write, every piece you finish.ā (John Jakes)
The above quote is for RPK and all Pakatan Rakyat’s bloggers.

The biggest mistake is to give an excuse for a state of emergency to be imposed.
The best action is for the
Royalty to step in to decree the release of detainees under the unjust imposition of the ISA.
