Got to the meeting point at the Mall just before 11am and almost immediately realised that the plan to stand in a row at the entrance as the diplomats and dignitaries arrived would not work as we were informed that they would drive up straight to the 4th floor.
The plan would have to be re-worked. And this might have to take on board the Hindraf group that we were informed would be arriving as well.
Soon people started to show up.
11.25am, and with about 25-30 people assembled and a new plan hatched, we started out for PWTC, encountering groups of Hindraf members along the way.
As we reached the entrance to PWTC, it became clear that if we were going to pull off the new plan, which was to get into the open house and deliver a message to Pak Lah, we’d have to clear the usual hurdle.
The men in blue!
Cops said we could not enter because of the T-shirts we were wearing.
Amarjit, Visu and I started to negotiate with the cops.
We asked what law made it unlawful for us to enter dressed as we were.
They replied that they were acting under instructions.
Amarjit then insisted that the explanation was not good enough and that we were going to enter and they could arrest us if they wanted.
Cops then asked for our co-operation as they were only doing their job.
We replied that we were also only doing our duty, trying to get our fellow Malaysians freed from unlawful detention.
Did not get us anywhere.
We offered to turn the T-shirts inside out.
No dice.
We offered to take off the T-shirts and enter bare bodied.
No dice.
Cops then said they would revert to their higher ups for further instructions.
Whilst all this was going on, who do we chance on?
The Chinese cop who earned Zorro’s wrath at the candle light vigil last Saturday!
See the arm on the cop’s left shoulder?
That’s Zorro’s!
Seems they kissed and made up!
Okay, okay, just kidding, Zorro. There was no kissing!
As these negotiations were going on, the Hartal ISA group were mulling about, blocking the entrance and simply making that passage impassable to others wanting to get in.
Cops tried to get around this by opening a second line to allow those ‘properly attired’ in.
However, some of us started to complain loudly that foreigners were being allowed in whilst we citizens were being excluded. Others took the opportunity to ask those going in to inform Pak Lah that he should release all ISA detainees immediately.
When Hindraf members tried to get in, they too were told that they could not enter for the same reasons.
Politically incorrect attire.
I’m not sure when, but some time later, Hindraf ran into a spot of bother with the cops when the latter tore a card that Hindraf intended to present to Pak Lah. You can read about this in Malaysiakini.
Cops now came back with their latest instructions. we would be let in, but we were to enter in small groups of three.
Whatever lah! We were getting in!
And Hindraf as well!
The queue to what we thought was the hall where we would meet Pak Lah took forever.
This is the first time I’m attending one of these open houses and, quite honestly, I am amazed that Malaysians actually bother to attend these dos!
Finally after inching our way to the front door of the hall that we were to enter, we were told to wait again.
What seemed strange then and made sense later was that the only ones waiting here were the Hindraf group and the Hartal ISA group.
Seemed almost like we had been isolated from the other attendees.
Took the opportunity to chat with the Hindraf folk. Found out that some came from Penang, Perak, Melaka, Negri Sembilan and Johore. Their numbers : about 500.
Finally, the doors to the hall open and we entered into the eating hall, realising immediately that we’d been had.
Pak Lah was not here and he would not be here.
Some enquiries and we’re told that Pak Lah’s on the fourth floor where the VVIPs and VIPs are being hosted.
Quick pow-wow.
We decide that we will try to find our way up to the fourth floor through the various exits.
Michael, Surind and I try to make our way through some doors that were not supposed to be used and are pounced on by the cops who appeared exasperated with us.
‘We’re trying to find our way out’, we explained, with the most innocent of expressions we could put on.
The cops weren’t buying this.
We were finally escorted to the stairs that led us to the basement carpark.
Outside, we discover that everyone finally ended up outside.
We re-grouped.
By now, it was almost 2pm.
Consensus : let’s go in again and try to make our way to the fourth floor.
Here goes round two!
Once inside, we discover that there is a staircase and a lift that goes up to the fourth floor.
We decide to split into two groups, one taking the lift and the other the stairs, in the hope that at least one will make it.
I’m up several flights of stairs with others.
Then we see it. Almost there!
And the entrance to the VVIP hall.
Guards try to stop the crowd but can’t.
We’re in.
We run into a blockade of guards. About ten feet away, Psk Lah and his entourage are receiving guests.
This next photo was taken as I snuck around the blockade during the melee.
Only to run into some rather unfriendly looking minders!
Others also managed to get in. We were now told that we would have to queue to salam with Pak Lah and Co.
No problem. We’ll queue.
First amongst us to get to Pak Lah was Visu.
And he had a gift for Pak Lah, from RPK and Marina.
I was next.
Pak Lah and I had briefly spoken at the MCCBCHST dinner in August and he must have remembered.
As we shook hands he exclaimed, ‘Hi, how are you?’.
I responded : ‘Dato Seri, please release all the ISA detainees immediately. Please, please, please’. Andrew Ong of Malaysiakini got the account of this wrong.
All the others in the group also asked the same thing : free all the ISA detainees.
Like everyone else, I too declined to shake hands with the other ministers in attendance.
All of us declined refreshments that were being served.
Mission accomplished.
I leave you with this group photo taken before we left the hall.
Penangites, don’t forget 4th October.

Dear brother Haris,
Kudos and absolute balls of steel today during the open house @ PWTC. Thanks for the wonderful snapshots and chronology of events…You sure had me smiling from ear to ear and Najib looked kinda shell shocked to see you having a warm exchange with Pak Lah. I reckon he’ll give the shirt from Visu a try tonight 🙂
Anyway, lets see what we can offer him here in Kepala Batas… It would awesome if you could come as well.
Dear Penangites, lets give Pak Lah a local welcoming gift this 4th Oct.
Cheers & Hidup RPK.

I commend you for the initiative/mission & also Bernard, Americk, Visu & All the other courageous Bloggers and Hindraf supporters who had synergised their efforts to make it a “successful” mission – Syabas to all, for the job well done.
God helps those that help themselves…so “Devine Intervention” works wonders !

No mention of you guys (surprise, surprise) and Hindraf painted as trouble-makers again (no surprise there).

You should read in The Star the responses from some of our Ministers…of course that report did not mention anyone else participating except for HINDRAF…I suppose by not mentioning the presence of others with the Abolish ISA and RPK T shirts, they can demonise HINDRAF and make them look like irresponsible and without class. That is The Star’s contribution to the spin demanded of them by UMNO.
So what do we have The Star saying?
““This is not the time, this is not the correct venue. They can come to wish Selamat Hari Raya and shake hands, but the rest of it, different time, and different date.
“If they come in peace and harmony there shouldn’t be any problems,” said Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar.”
So what is a corect forum? This one with VIP’s attending you can’t ossibly showcase your FRU, can you?
When tey wanted to send him flowers, they sent in the troops and water canons.
This ape of a minister is talking lke as if he can show evidence of civlity on their part in dealing with anyone from HINDRAF or other NGOs. But then again these are badly bred idiots who managed to work their way up the UMNO ladder and lying and conning is in their blod anyway.
Also The Star headlines it as a HINDRAF commotion. Why paint a picture that is false? So how much did WCW sell his back for for attempting to paint a bad picture of what was civil!!?

The use of ISA to protect Nargis is taking a toll on the Nation’s economy, the capital flights were the nett results. It is this tyro Finance Minister who will further sleep with Bodohwi’s budget against the present world economic situation are the issues the Rakyats of Malaysia will further face and suffer greater hardship and took toll on the higher food prices that are not coming down soon. The tyro Finance Minister could not find any solution nor direction in resolving the urgent need to keep food prices down reasonably.
The UMNO Clown Botak and his cohorts will be made to taste their own medicines when the time of reckoning comes very soon.
Leave BN, all Component Parties with a conscience must leave the Evil Master Oppressor UMNO for good ok??? Leave & let them, the UMNO clowns to settle the horse trading between Flip Flop and C4 ok???
Come October 2008 there is nothing left but the Opposition Leader’s Post to Hand Over from Flip Flop to C4 ok???
There should be no raya nor peace for Botak UMNO Clown if the ISA detainees are not released and the oppressive draconian law is not abolished because such injustices are not tolerated and thus create great discontentment in this modern society. One day Botak and his cohorts should be made to eat their own medicine for the injustices they have committed against the detainees especially RPK, our Brave Hero no doubts.
We call upon all the Rakyats of Malaysia to sign a Petition to be sent to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong to release RPK from his detention under ISA because there is a hidden agenda of a conspiracy of using his detention to silence him so that he could not further release more evidences against the real C4 murderers of Altantuya because all the accused were all fall guys of the real murderers because they all did not have a real & logical motive to murder the Mongolian Lady.
THE NEW DAWN OF MALAYSIA HAS COME & THE FIRST THING IS TO ALLOW APPEALS & THEN RELEASE ALL ISA DETAINEES, ABOLISH ISA, OSA, SEDITION OR WHATEVER ACTS THAT COULD BE EXPLOITED AND MADE PREJUDICIAL AND OPPRESSIVE TO THE VOICE OF DISSENT FROM ALL THE RAKYATS.
It is very easy to generate Police Reports against DSAI by using Penang Mamak Umno’s 25 Members headed by Wan Abidin Zain, who claimed to be non-partisan, using their uneasiness that most Penangites will now be boycotting Nasi Kandar one more round???
It is very Sad that the legacy of Malaysian Independence is reduced by this Moronic Flip Flop Coward into great disrepute and a laughing stock of the whole world and knowing very well that the UMNO Government has technically collapsed and they have lost locus standi to govern but yet he has decided to shamelessly still cling on to power via dubious means like hiding himself via using of the ISA and we cannot imagine that the Malaysia Moronic Flip Flop Coward has now stoop so low and using the Police Deputy IGP as his willing tools especially the Deputy IGP’s clearly taking side as the Police must be neutral and should be not politiking for him.
The Coward Moronic Flip Flop Chicken dare not meet DSAI face to face to settle matters but chose hiding under the use of ISA and that is what you have as a disgraceful cowardice leader for UMNO.
After 51 years MALAYSIA IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE but backwards because of the Oppression from the UMNO goons’ divide and rule fear tactics the Rakyats have matured & you must see all this coming because All The Rakyats of Malaysia are all fed-up & can no longer with-stand the hypocrisies, bullshits, lies and deceits of these UMNO Clowns now in Power ok??? What Oil Subsidies IS nothing but a hoax that the UMNO Government MAKE BELIEF THAT THERE IS AN OIL PRICE SUBSIDY TO THE PRICE OF FUEL BUT IN FACT THERE WERE NONE THIS IS BECAUSE MALAYSIA IS THE NET EXPORTER OF OIL THAT IS ONLY AFTER DEDUCTING DOMESTIC CONSUMPTION THE BALANCE IS EXPORTED TO EARN FOREIGN EXCHANGE. THESE LIARS MAKE US BELIEVE BY CONTINUOUS PROPAGANDA THAT THERE ARE OIL PRICE SUBSIDY BUT IN FACT THERE WERE NONE BECAUSE THE PRICE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ACTUAL SALE LOCALLY AND THE PRICE THEY INTENDED TO SELL ABOARD IS AN OPPORTUNITY COST NOT PRICE SUBSIDY.
We urge all BN Components & MPs with a conscience to do the necessary to make possible a New Malaysia for all Rakyats of Malaysia so that all our children and their children & their children’s children’s future will be safe and secured in the Country we all love and not be intimidated by those UMNO Clowns now in power with their oppressive & fear tactics and in the verge of making Malaysia a Police State if left unchecked otherwise. Save RPK as he is the midst of a conspiracy of the real murderers of Altantuya to silence him for good, instead of being C4ed he could be poisoned and worse off if he is on hunger strike by himself. The Acting IGP is defending the Police position after being made the tools of UMNO’s fear tactics & so he is now making lame excuses for being the Stringed Puppet to be easily manipulated by the Puppeteer, power that be. The Deputy IGP must be held personally responsible for the safety of RPK who has been heard to be tortured otherwise he must be made to eat his own medicine come the New Dawn of Malaysia.
Moronic PeeM and Botak Home Minister last minutes’ attempts to cling on power by using the fear tactics of using the ISA at their whims and fancies selectively against dissent & tried to deny their own actions as they now have no balls to face the wrath of the all the Rakyats of Malaysia. ONE DAY THE MORONIC BOTAK AND FLIP FLOP AND C4 MUST BE MADE TO TASTE THEIR OWN MEDICINE OK?
All Rakyats of Malaysia will see to that these Clowns will be thrown out soon come the New Dawn of Malaysia & that all Rakyats of Malaysia will welcome the New Malaysia on Malaysia Day 916, 2008 for a Malaysia for All Malaysians.
Justice MUST BE DONE for Altantuya and for all those detained under ISA without the trial nor the rights of appeal. Light-up a Candle in the Lantern of the Mid-Autumn Festival for them all to usher in the NEW DAWN OF MALAYSIA COME 916, 2008

Dear Paul Warren & Freedom Fighters,
Don’t forget the Bernama report:
http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v5/newsgeneral.php?id=362259
Excerpts:
“A group of Hindraf supporters Wednesday caused a stir at the Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house hosted by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Muslim Cabinet ministers at the PWTC when they did not observe rules and cut into the queue of others.
Observers said that about mid-day, they had cut into a long queue comprising the general public who had been waiting for their opportunity since 10am.
Despite their unruly behaviour, they were allowed into the hall in the spirit of Hari Raya.
Abdullah told reporters that the group wanted to meet him personally but he could not meet anyone specifically as it was a Hari Raya open house.”

Where in the world would you find s government providing lucrative, untaxing, & undemanding jobs requiring little or no skills to the mentally handicapped?
Some can hardly read or write. Some can’t even differentiate between A$10 or A$i million
Maafkan mereka
And I do agree with the ministers.
Why disturb ppl & make them angry during their important religious events?
Did they do anything to you during YOUR religious event? They only arrested a fellow Muslim during Ramadan. See the diff?
And as for the comment on protesters disturbing tourists? Oh. sorry I have already spoken up in defence of the mentally handicapped haven’t I?

I think they had all left by the time I arrived.
I saw Hishammudin, Ahmad Nor and Shafie Apdal and some other unknown UMNO deputy ministers greeting guests as we enterd the hall but did not shake their hands as I did not want to tarnish myself with their corrupt, evil and negative energies.

At 1.45pm, the Hindraf group and our motley crew were re-grouping outside.

The greatest mistake our Bad Awi made for this hari raya 2008 is his arrogant character of not releasing the 5 Hindrafs n our RPK. Otherwise he will enjoying is raya with Jeanne n family happily. “Let’s forgive”, in his raya message to all Malaysians. It is the biggest LIE of his life spoken during the first day of raya. He will recall this message at the last minute of his dying moment that can bring him to the most woeful existences in his next life. It is not a ‘believe it or not’. It is a natural law when a person passing away and all the bad moments conquered his weak mind and drag him to the woeful existences. Next time you just watch the dying persons of good character and bad character you will know. “With God power bless our RPK with full of strength and energy”
