After seeing the Malaysiakini video on the scene at the mortuary, I and many of our friend are getting angrier with the guilty cops.
There should be an independent investigation!
And if they can’t so called identify the guilty persons then the the superiors should take the wrap for allowing this to happen.
IPCMC! IPCMC! IPCMC! NOW, NOW, NOW!

From capturing to these:
1)Suddenly drop dead after drinking a glass of water
2)Died of breathing difficulties
3)Record the statements of two deputy ministers in connection with the morgue incident
4)died due to fluid in his lungs
5)died of lung infection
Selangor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said that the first post-mortem found there was “NO FOUL PLAY”
“Even given 2nd post mortem what if they are not satisfy? There’s no end to this.
NOW, ITS MURDER!!! Who is lying? This is another example how mighty is our police force. The culprit will walk free, just watch!!! There is no justice in Malaysia. Can we have the next election, quick. These people must be put on trial.

Everytime the police did something wrong, no actin will be taken to them. Last time, Datuk Seri Anwar also almost beaten to death while in the lokap?
Is the police really criminal with license?
I don’t know but pictures tell the truth.

Kugan’s death is just one of many who have died whilst under Police Custody.
One death is one too many.Kugan is not a statistics ,he is a human being with loved ones & family, friends & relatives.
The people responsible for his death must be brought to justice under the malaysian law.
Pakatan Rakyat must put this issue at the top of their change agenda for the sake of all now and future generations.

What a strange sort of land this is. The police murder more people than the criminals. Altantuya was (allegedly) murdered by the police, now Kugan. Apparently there were 1535 deaths in police custody in a five year period! I bet that’s more than civilian cases of murder!

It is so so sad looking at the photos of the brutally bitten deceased shown in this site. We must end this mafia regime (UMNO and the damn IGP & his team of murderer). Words cannot describe how the deceased family members feel. I hope the whole world sees these photos and what a shame the bastards at the top in the cabinet are doing to the people of this country. Hope lightning will strike on all these UMNO idiots and the damn IGP & his team of murderer soon then the country will be a happier place for every one regardless of race and religion to live. This incident make the rakyat hate them more and they will never get my vote… May the soul of the late Kugan rest in peace…

With so much facts and figures pointing to police brutality, we have a SOB called Kenneth Eswaran of MAICCI, singing praises of the Malaysian Goverment. What another anjing kerajaan. Every now and then you read about robbers or criminals being shot dead by the police. The story was always these people opened fire at the police first and were shot dead when the police returned fire. What more, I can’t remember ever reading about police casualties. Either these criminals were terribly poor at shooting or our police has been terribly lucky.
It seems our police force are trained to shoot to kill. If I’m not mistaken there have been cases where people were shot dead for charging the police with parangs.
Enough is enough. There should be a mass protest against police brutality, corruption and incompetence.

This is indeed serious, and if nothing is done to deal with the offenders, I fear something worse will happen. I would like to appeal to the IGP to come forward and to say something to pacify the Indian community. Just don’t hide yourself and let your subordinates make statements, and in most instances the statements they make is just a cover up.This is murder Mr. IGP, and you are equally responsible for those who had committed this heinous crime,

Dearest Haris
Something is very very wrong with the big picture.
This para caught my attention and I sense there’s a lot more to it…
Charles Santiago: The nation was shocked when reports of police personnel abusing and pouring hot water on carpark attendant B.Prabakar surfaced. But the fact that the incident and public outcry did not stop other officers from abusing Kugan only goes to show the leverage of power enjoyed by the police force in Malaysia. Full story,
http://mt.m2day.org/2008/content/view/17153/84/
In a nutshell, I sense a conspiracy. I sense trouble brewing in the horizon. Everyone, please stay calm and don’t let emotions run riot over this custodial murder. Don’t play into the hands of those setting the stage to create Emergency Rule as in May 13.
Pray for God to thwart the evil plans if any. Pray for wisdom, for people to do the right thing and TRUST GOD to do the rest.
I pray my imagination is just running wild at this moment. 😐

Bro,
The police bast@rds have gone too much now!!!! Hindraf’s main support column is from the Northern region and the guys here are already discussing about a rally that YB Manikavasagam said he’ll call if police does not initiate proper investigations. I guess the AG classified the case as murder to cool down the simmering anger. I am under no illusions that if a rally was called, thousands will make the journey this time from Penang, Kedah, etc, and I will definitely be one of them just like the first rally.
This is a sincere request to all Anak Bangsa Malaysia that if a rally is called, please join in and support in the name of justice for a brutally tortured and murdered young Malaysian. Because if none of you come out in support, the A$$HOLES in the government will portray it as a racial rally.

there are reasons to be apprehensive about the way the police are doing their jobs. this is a very clear case that the police merely carrying out orders – presumably “POLICIES” to defend the soil from “immigrants” – a diabolic supremacists ideal ingrated among the majority race since twenty something years ago – especially the police since they are the last defender of this ideal.
why do you suppose that death among suspects ever increasing and the brazenly embolden police to act the way they did.
where do you suppose that hatred for the indians came from – credit should be given to unmo for all the lies they perpetuated against others.
last but not least – the local intelligent agency – all the intelligent info they gather must have been full of craps – info gathered that are made to realize what is not.

No hope in PDRM as long as the government is not changed.
The leadership in PDRM only serves their political masters, who make full use of PDRM to do all the wrong things.
As UMNO is hopeless now that it is infested with contract-hungry grass root and all levels of leadership, so is PDRM.
According to information available from the internet, the top police officers are also interested in lucreative contracts dishing out by their masters in the UMNO lead government. In fact, they also unashamely asked for such contract.

The bloody MIC!!! ..if still alive ..should initiate action on this…but sad to say the president down to the bottom are impotent and are deadwood!!!.They as usual have lost their balls and busy searching for it…Kugan’s death should not be add up to another statistics…Punish those murderers fast!!!.

Can we pray for a whistle-blower to emerge from within the PDRM on this case?
It will definitely hasten the investigation and perhaps, bring about the downfall of the Selangor CPO and the IGP as well. Including the Home Minister, of course.
Even if there is none brave enough to step forward, this message will be read by the cops and/or powers-that-be, and cause them to have sleepless nights which will result with more ‘wrong’ statements.
There are more than one way to skin them critters. Keep up the pressure but let’s be aware of other consequences as pointed out by Pat Lu (@12.36am message above).
Emergency rule was one option discussed in the past amongst the UMNO top bigwigs. All it needs is a trigger factor. Fifteen Sunday ISA candle-light vigils failed to provide it despite the authorities pushing the envelope.
And Haris was perceptive enough to relent during last Sundays potluck in view of the new participants. But we got the opportunity to eyeball them cops from Lotus, didn’t we.
Don’t succumb to the blatant provocations, please.

Its a terrible terrible act on the part of the Malay Police to torture & kill Khugan.
No suspect while under investigation should be punch, hit or beaten whatmore murdered.
There are so many of these cases committed by the police who are supposed to protect the citizens.
Just imagine if this happen to your loved ones.
To the police with their power of arrest & detention, the Indians & any one caught seem a fair game of like catching a rat- to be abused ,teased ,slap & beaten.
How can we as Malaysians allow this to continue ?
There must be checks in place to eradicate this evil

Thanks to the internet and civic minded people like Haris Ibrahim exposing this most inhumane crime that AG Gani Patail was forced to admit it is murder. Now Kugan’s family and the public want not only justice to be done, but more importantly seen to be done. There must be no cover up, not only by those who carried out the murder, but also those higher ups who directed it, must be punished with the most severe penalty for murder – hanging.

May I say respectfully that your asking that ex-MIC parliamentarian from Sungei Siput to do anything to help any Malaysian is pointless as I’d hazard a guess that he was always there in politics for himself and never for one split second in the real interests of any other Malaysian, whether Indian or not.
And as for seeking God…er…I don’t think that’s going to work or happen either as I have been reliably informed, perhaps blasphemously, that God’s not into listening to any BS either.

This is really bad for Malaysia and will live for a very long time in the minds of all who seek justice. What happened to all the promises of police reforms and swift disciplinary actions? Are they all just talk and no substance?
Even murderers are given a fair trial and treatment before execution, more so an alleged car thief. Have we seen the end of this frightening slide in integrity of our police force and is our home minister able to arrest this decay? Surely this is of utmost importance and priority. Some of the comments in this blog are too much pointing to the PDRM alone. I cant accept the brutality of the police. OK, Kugan is already dead and that really cruel. This issue has been a racial issue.
But dont relate with the incidents where police shot dead the criminals. When the criminal rates up, you complaint. When police do their job you complaint. When your mercedes stolen you make noise and you want to kill the person that stole your merz. Kugan was one of them. So advice you wack his body to satisfy your anger.

Dear Indians!!!!!! I call for unity and please do understand the circumstance of current happenings is caused by our own ignorance. Our Indians are born with aggressiveness and lots of emotions. If they are triggered they are trance by anger. First of all why are we letting our children uncontrolled and regret later? Why every time we cry when it is too late. Educate our children’s with moral values and decency. I encountered a problem two days a go where few Indian guys were having their drink in OUG and one of them were urinating near one of the shop lots. I thought it was my friend who was doing that and I scolded the shadow but unfortunately it wasn’t my friend. The guy starred at me and told me that he is from this area(he sounded rude and angry) When rest of my friends arrived they got them selves a table and told the waiter to put it far away from the shop because we wanted some privacy. This guys who got angry simply because we were trying to have a good meal there rammed their motorbike and off they go. In 10 minutes, the guy who was urinating came back with a loud noise of his motorbike and he threw a parang on the road near our sitting place trying to warn us. He also scolded one of our senior uncle who is in his 60’s ….”HOI KEPALA BOTAK”(in Tamil) than they tried to provoke us to a fight. Luckily all my friends had patience and they listened to my advice. When they went of i scolded my friends because they react the same when the guys provoked us. ……………………my point here is that we should control our society and educated our people. If KUGAN is dead he might have been doing something wrong. But it is also wrong for the police to react such way against the human rights law. From this incident we should write a memo to the PM asking to tighten the police law. Police have no rights to touch the criminal until it is proven they are guilty and parents should control their children form wrong doings. I should say that we Indians must realize that we are not raising our children properly….and….I can proof it to you.

Sorry, I beg to differ. In my view, the last person breeding ignorant racism here or anywhere else is our anak Bangsa Malaysia Haris.
If there are any innocent or misguided or real racists – sorry I don’t like the word racialist – here, then in my view, they are more likely to be those who still segregate, call and think of themselves (after over fifty years of being a Malaysian citizen) as being first and foremost, an Indian or a Chinese or a Malay or a Punjabi or etc. etc. instead of addressing themselves as being a Malaysian/ABM first.
For clarification of what I mean:
An Indian is normally understood to be a national of the sovereign nation state of India. So if your ethnicity is so important to you over and above your national Malaysian identity, then it is better for you to address yourself as a Malaysian Indian, not the other way around, as it may give a misleading impression to others as to where your true loyalty lies, and worse, play right into the hands of those who want to use such, albeit innocent, misunderstandings against you for political motives.
Not intending to show anyone how to suck eggs, but a death in police custody is a relevant concern for ALL Malaysians and has nothing to do with the dead person’s race/ethnicity or even their innocence or criminality.
This incident is about whether the PDRM applies unreasonable and disproportionate force on those whom they arrest and hold in their custody for interrogation, irrespective of who that arrested person is.
The serious issues here revolve around the potential abuse of the state’s delegated police powers and whether there is a credibility gap and/or an accountability gap between the expected professional standards set for the PDRM in its policing role and the actual standards that the PDRM actually applies and achieves in its day to day policing.

yo elometcr, leave other country out of this. They have nothing to do with it.
First of all, I felt sorry for the family who lost their son/brother. But may I remind you all that he is a criminal, that he should know the consequence of being lockup.
It is the job of the police to investigate and interrogate the criminal or offender. But there is only one thing I don’t agree here, the cops don’t have to go that far to kill him. Probably the cops lost their patience with him and loose control of their power.
I say there should be an investigation be done on the police and make sure those who commit the offence should be punish with jail sentence and should be strip of their service.
I realize many Malaysian tend to go on rage when ever things like this happen, and always putting the blame on others. This is not right and childish. It is time where we sit down and think before we point finger on others. Evaluation of the situation is very critical as a citizen. Don’t be barbaric and go on parade every now and then….

Nanda says:
That’s kindda like contradicting your own statement isn’t it? Disagree with police brutality but he died because he did the crime?
The real issue is not whether or not he committed the crime. That hasn’t been confirmed. The guy died while in custody under first remand order. He hasn’t been charged in court for any crime at the time of death.
Even if it is confirmed, one cannot jusify the abuse and torture that was subjected in the lock up which may have caused his death.
But let’s play along with the luxury car theft allegation for awhile.
It stated that he led to the discovery of several luxury cars, so, where’s the list of the cars? Where was it stored? It should be some sort of a godown I would think, if it is really a syndicate. Which godown is it then? Under whose name is the godown registered? Who was managing the godown when Kugan led them to the finding of the cars? Was that person taken in for helping in the investigations? Why was Kugan still being held in remand even after the discovery of those cars and discovery of the storage location?
The battle is half won if you manage the perception and that’s exactly what the authorities with the help of MSM have been propogating. By painting the person involved in a a terrible colour and by reporting one sidedly on what transpired when the family went to the mortuary for the first time, they wanted to divert the attention from the actual issue, which is, an alleged suspect is abused and may have died as a direct cause from the abuse.
One then is left to wonder as to the reason for such need to divert the attention if there’s nothing to hide.

I met a police friend few days ago. Asked him a stupid question. Siapa bunuh Kugan? Sapa lagi? Siapa jaga dia lah.. I asked stupidly, siapa jaga lokap?
My Indian police friend said, Kugan is a criminal. I asked him, sudah buktikan dia salah ka? Kalau curi kereta kalo, hukum bunuh ka? Then I told him, jangan trigger happy, nanti kalo satu hari kana sama lu orang punya family, baru lu rasa apa macam.
I still remember during my teaching days when a student of mine took paraquat. The reason was his unability to get new stationeries. He was an above average boy trying to do the best.
Another contrasting episode happenned when an Indian lady teacher asked me why should I pet my Indian students. Why not? I asked. Petting the shoulders is a way of giving them confidence and self respect.
Hiiii kotor lahhh. Hi dirty lah… I was confused. Later I found that the Indian Cikgu is from a higher caste. My students were from the estate in Kuala Selangor.
Moral of the story is … think for yourself.
Kugan is one of many social problem of Malaysian Indians.

I heard that the IPG is a great fan of american mafia history and keeps a library on their biographies. Probably that is the reason why he remodelled the PDRM after MURDER INC., the murdering arm of the italian-american mafia of the fifties, considering himself as the capo, umno as the outfit and Mahafiraun as the Godfather.

Seperti kata anda, warna darah kita sama.

Symptoms of pulmonary oedema include difficulty breathing, coughing up blood, excessive sweating, anxiety, and pale skin. A classic sign of pulmonary edema is the production of pink frothy sputum. If left untreated, it can lead to coma and even death, in general, due to its main complication of hypoxia. If pulmonary edema has been developing gradually, symptoms of fluid overload may be elicited. These include nocturia (frequent urination at night), ankle edema (swelling of the legs, in general, of the “pitting” variety, wherein the skin is slow to return to normal when pressed upon), orthopnea (inability to lie down flat due to breathlessness), and paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea (episodes of severe sudden breathlessness at night).
So how did the water gets into the lungs?
Our police would not have submerged the suspect into water. They will not do it.

dnifira-do you know how cops treated their detainees in the lock up? do you have any form of personal experience in respect to that? how do you know kugan is a criminal? what makes you think he is one? one is not guilty until he is proven guilty under the law. get your senses straight or stop posting your silly and imbecile postings around here if you are not prepared to say something decent with certain degree of prolific yet good ideas.

you guys need to be rational in your thinking lah. its easy to put the blame on somebody but you guys forget is that the deceased was a criminal repeat a criminal! how many innocent people got hurt or died in this syndicated criminal activities? innocent lives may be gone, individual/families trumatised and what have you not are caused by these criminals!.
if he was not, there was no business for him to be locked-up and 13 or so luxury cars recovered. now he was involved in criminal activities and once he was held by police, do you think the syndicate would let him “free” to expose all their activities to the police?
the syndicate involved would do everything they can to get their hands on him while he was in police custody. so as to ensure he won’t be able to feed the police in their investigations. these angles need to be looked into too. don’t blame the police for everything and please don’t blame any specific race or political for these incidents. don’t be racist!
criminals are from all walk of life, race or religion. no specific race or religion breeds criminals.
belive in the karma – when you did something bad to others, bad things sure to happen to you – may not be today or tomorrow but sure to come to you!
condolence to the family.

Nanda, you said “one then is left to wonder as to the reason for such need to divert the attention if there’s nothing to hide”.
Could the reason be:
(a) the existence of the mandatory death penalty for murder?
(b) that certain police personnel may themselves be involved in illegal activities to profit from crime and corruption?
The insight into (b) was gained from my now dead young brother – who was unfortunately also killed off way before his time through another incidence of reckless, woeful negligence over there, this time by so-called “medical professionals” – who told me that police personnel used to stop his car quite often while he was driving about in KL and ask him for “cofee/tea money” quite regularly.
Police corruption is a dangerous disease because it means that the policeman/woman in that trusted, comforting, blue PDRM uniform that you may turn to for help may not in fact be a “policeman/woman” at all who is there to protect you, but a state-licensed criminal thug in uniform who is masquerading as a policeman/woman and who more likely has no intention whatsoever of protecting you or anyone else at all in reality.
