Let’s try to put a context to where Najib is coming from and headed to with his 1Malaysia.
What is Najib’s grand design that he now calls 1Malaysia?
Is his 1Malaysia novel and innovative, or re-hashed from a model that we’ve seen before?
Two days ago, Malaysianinsider reported Mukhriz as saying that it would be difficult to realise the “1Malaysia” concept if the Malays are not united, as the the Malays are the pillar in making 1 Malaysia a reality and played an important role in ensuring the country’s progress as they are the majority in the country.
I quote Mukhriz from that report :
“If they are not united, how are we going to realise the 1 Malaysia concept? This will not only be detrimental to the Malays but also to other races…When we talk about Malay unity, we are not talking from the racism point of view. We have accepted the fact that there cannot be a government which is led 100 per cent by Malay leaders … we have been practising power sharing for so long”
What do you discern from this?
One, ‘Malay unity talk’ ala UMNO-style is not racism.
Two, power sharing in the governance of this country is set, not on the premise of having the best men and women in place to get the job done, but along racial lines, with a predominance of Malays at the helm of government because they are the majority, because this is how power has been shared thus far.
If you want to know where Mukhriz is coming from, you don’t have to go far.
Just read his father’s ‘The Malay Dilemma’.
I’ve just finished re-reading that book.
If you’ve never read this book, you should make the effort to.
It’ll give you an idea of how this country found itself on that slippery slope into the cesspool we now are in when Mahathir took over the PMship.
It will reveal how this man, in the late 60’s / early 70’s, conveniently distorted a prevailing ‘have versus have-nots’ class issue into a racial one, portrayed as being that of the ‘marginalised Malays versus the non-Malay community’ and, through his years of rule as PM, perpetuated this thinking, with the acquiescence of the other BN component party leaders, of course.
In a speech that he was supposed to have delivered at the Harvard Club of Malaysia on 29th July 2002, this is what Mahathir is reported to have said :
“When I wrote The Malay Dilemma in the late 60s, I had assumed that all the Malays lacked the opportunities to develop and become successful. They lacked opportunities for educating themselves, opportunities to earn enough to go into business, opportunities to train in the required vocation, opportunities to obtain the necessary funding, licences and premises. If these opportunities could be made available to them, then they would succeed. …… So what is the new Malay dilemma? Their old dilemma was whether they should distort the picture a little in order to help themselves. The new dilemma is whether they should or should not do away with the crutches that they have got used to, which in fact they have become proud of. There is a minority of Malays who are confident enough to think of doing away with the crutches, albeit gradually. But they are a very small minority. Their numbers are not going to increase any time soon. They are generally regarded as traitors to the Malay race. ….”
There you have it!
Distort the picture in order to help themselves!
That the truth then was that every marginalised Malaysian, regardless of race, “lacked opportunities for educating themselves, opportunities to earn enough to go into business, opportunities to train in the required vocation, opportunities to obtain the necessary funding, licences and premises”, was buried in the distorted picture that was presented, so that certain quarters could help themselves.
11 years before that reported speech to the Havard Club, in 1991, Mahathir launched his Vision 2020 where he also spoke of establishing a united Malaysian nation; a Bangsa Malaysia, as he put it. I have alluded to this in a previous post last year. This is what Mahathir had said in 1991 of that Bangsa Malaysia :
“By the year 2020, Malaysia can be a united nation, with a confident Malaysian society, infused by strong moral and ethical values, living in a society that is democratic, liberal and tolerant, caring, economically just and equitable, progressive and prosperous, and in full possession of an economy that is competitive, dynamic, robust and resilient. There can be no fully developed Malaysia until we have finally overcome the nine central strategic challenges that have confronted us from the moment of our birth as an independent nation…The first of these is the challenges of establishing a united Malaysian nation with a sense of common and shared destiny. This must be a nation at peace with itself, territorially and ethnically integrated, living in harmony and full and fair partnership, made up of one ‘Bangsa Malaysia’ with political loyalty and dedication to the nation…The eighth is the challenge of ensuring an economically just society. This is a society in which there is a fair and equitable distribution of the wealth of the nation, in which there is full partnership in economic progress. Such a society cannot be in place so long as there is the identification of race with economic function, and the identification of economic backwardness with race.”
18 years on from that inspirational speech of his, why is it that we do not appear to be anywhere near establishing that one ‘Bangsa Malaysia’ with political loyalty and dedication to the nation ?
Was Mahathir’s Vision 2020 no different from his ‘Look East’ policy that he innovated soon after taking office, in that both were made up of inspiring rhetoric with little political will to carry through and which got us all sufficiently distracted so that the privileged hands that were raiding the national coffers could work at will and unnoticed?
What is the difference between Mahathir’s Vision 2020 and Najib’s 1Malaysia?
Is there such a difference between Mahathir and Najib that we should be encouraged to believe that, whilst Mahathiir had little impact in taking us anywhere near the Bangsa Malaysia he spoke of, with Najib, it will be otherwise ?

so what do you suggest?
For a start, I suggest we REFUSE to acknowledge the legitimacy of Najib’s leadership. Less than 30 per cent of the electorate favors his premiership. The only reason why he has been installed as PM, against the wishes of at least 70 per cent of the voters, is because he could afford to buy off the 191 Umno division chiefs who nominated him as Umno president, whereas Tengku Razaleigh, to his credit, refused to get involved in bribery and therefore received only ONE nomination.
IN EFFECT, WE MUST NOT LEND OUR SUPPORT, WHICH CAN ONLY BE IMMORAL, TO A CORRUPT AND DECEITFUL MAN PROPPED UP BY A CORRUPT AND DECEITFUL – AND I MUST ADD, OBSOLETE – POLITICAL SYSTEM.
Same scenario applies in the Perak Imbroglio. We refuse to acknowledge the usurper Zambry Abdul Kadir as the legitimate chief minister of Perak and reject outright the murky misrulings of the tainted federal court and the reigning sultan.

1Malaysia is re-cycled rice gruel. Water is added to Vision 2020 rhetoric and the ensuing mess stirred and re-heated. No further substance is added. It will fail because there is no sincerity and political will to take painful steps to ensure true reform of our floundering institutions. It is the same old, same old magic tricks, mirrors and smoke for public consumption. Poor Malaysia.

Does anybody have details on what 1Malaysia is all about? There is so much talk about it, but I don’t think I’ve read anywhere what Najib meant by 1Malaysia. All I know is that he said it is different from DAP’s Malaysian Malaysia, which is all encompassing and does not differentiate race from function.
I have the stinking feeling that it is just another of those rhetorics for which UMNO/BN are famous for, as I don’t see or feel anything different coming from Najib for the moment. Things are still going according to racial lines.

Stop day dreaming.
Only way anything will change, is if right thinking Malaysians can convince their brothers and sisters in Sabah & Sarawak to wake up.
The War is in East Malaysia. The battle will be every Parlimentary seat in Sabah & Sarawak. This has to be done before the EC re-draws the constituencies.
PR needs to get more allies from there. Make sure the candidate is known to the constituents. He/she has to be seen playing a major role.
As long as PAS does not misbehave in the Peninsular, then there is a chance. PAS forgot that they won many ADUN seats due to non-Moslem votes.
UMNO’s Rustam in Melaka, and Adnan in Pahang will continue doing stupid things that will anger the voting public. The message has to be gotten out. Place the Perak fiasco on U Tube, go and visit various constituents, and show them the clips (never in groups of more than 3 persons), and via viral propagation, the message will spread. Everytime UMNO does something stupid, send it viral.

Can we have different coalition for federal and state?
Kedah PKR, DAP told to abandon PAS
Athi Veeranggan | Jun 23, 09 11:01am
Even as national leaders of Pakatan Rakyat drop the hot potato that the proposed ‘unity government’ has turned out to be, Kedah Gerakan is checking out the idea at state level.
MCPX
Its Youth wing wants the state PKR and DAP to snub PAS and tie up with Barisan Nasional to form a unity state government in Alor Setar.
Kedah Youth chief Tan Keng Liang alleged that PKR and DAP have many grouses against the leadership of Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak, who is from PAS.
Moreover, he said, PKR and DAP have more in common with BN component parties such as Gerakan rather than with the Islamic-based PAS
“Hence, I suggest it would be better for PKR and DAP to snub PAS and join hands with BN to form a unity government in Kedah,” Tan (centre in photo) told Malaysiakini today.
Currently PAS is the largest single party in the state assembly, holding 16 of the 36 seats.
Umno, which is in the opposition, is second with 12, followed by PKR with five, while DAP, Gerakan and MCA have one each.
Besides filling the menteri besar’s seat, PAS dominates the state executive council with seven members while PKR has three.
Bumiputera quota hike
Tan said the state’s decision to hike the bumiputera housing quota from 30 percent to 50 percent has become the most controversial issue.
“It has provoked angry reactions from many quarters, including PKR and DAP,” he said.
Another problem, he said, is the decision to shift a pig abbatoir from its current location in Mergong, Alor Star.
“Until today the government has yet to identify an alternative site. But it plans to demolish the abattoir by end of this month,” he claimed.
Many Indian Malaysians are said to be unhappy with the state government’s lethargic handling of their grievances, especially on land, housing, employment and vernacular education.
A state government source said senior civil servants have now become more powerful than the exco in deciding, executing and managing affairs.
Unlike the previous Umno-controlled Kedah government, the PAS-helmed government has failed to tame the overzealous, and at times arrogant, senior public officers, the source said.
He added that the local municipalities are incompetent and inefficient in performing daily tasks, particularly garbage collection. This has become a major talking point.
Outdated style
Several Pakatan leaders are allegedly unhappy that the state government had retained Umno-linked companies as concessionaires in sand excavation projects all over Kedah.
“Due to this, many residents have resorted to sand theft in several prime areas,” said the government officer.
These contentious issues have been blamed on the PAS-helmed government’s lack of conviction to initiate changes.
Azizan is accused of being reluctant to abandon an orthodox political system, leadership and style of governance.
According to a Pakatan source, instead of becoming a well-oiled, refined, reformed and pro-active government, the PAS-led government has stuck with the outdated Umno style of administration.
“It is reluctant to ruffle feathers for fear of antagonising the all- powerful senior civil servants,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tan said the state economy, employment opportunities and business growth have all become stagnant.
He claimed that a BN-PKR-DAP partnership can safeguard the interests and rights of Kedah citizens and deliver constructive and progressive policies to stimulate growth.

Malaysia all the while has been 1 Malaysia since its formations in 1963. So why are we talking about 1 Malaysia instead we should be talking about 1 race the Malaysian Race and this is the direction Malaysia should move.
Remeber all religious people : The population today is the multiplication from 2 lives and therefore no one is different from the others.
We should not rule people instead we should be asked to rule and that is what we call DEMOCRACY.
People who crossed the straits yesterday we have accepted them as Malays but people who came to our beloved country few hundred years are differntiated.
We want to champion Malay Language but we are not speaking the language which was spoken during the days of our Late Prime Minister our belovd Tunku Abdul Rahman. If I am not mistaken at least 30-40% of the words in Malay are English words (same pronountiation with small differnce in spellings). Those days the English colonised our country with some force but today our Malay Language actually has lost its identity.
I feel proud of the Malay Language which was sopken some 50 years ago but not the language today.
Don’t get me wrong. I am not saying English Language is not relevant. It is indeed very2 relevant because that is the so called Global Language. If we want to go Global then please think English.
The world is getting boarderless and if we want to be competative then we have to give English the prominance.
Allah Bless Malaysia and her people THE MALAYSIANS

NTR’s 1Malaysia concept was never meant to go beyond grandiose rhetoric.
From the time when his website of the same name was established last year, ‘1Malaysia’ will mutate with the constantly differing political tides NTR is facing. And just like his predecessors’ grand plans for unity, it too will fail miserably.
Quite simply, 1Malaysia was a ‘top-down’ strategy implemented by an ‘unelected’ leader who is disconnected from the electoral grassroots.
But we ain’t rats who’s gonna walk into that same mouse trap again and again anymore.
March 2008 changed everything about the rules of engagement in the political realm.
Empowering civil society through Anak Bangsa Malaysia is the new game in town.
From the bottom-up, and to Putrajaya, of course.

Aiya, very inconvenient la you. Haven’t you heard of such a thing as “shiok sendiri rhetoric?” Mahathir was full of it for a long time. Epitomised by such things as all his megalomaniac building programmes such as starting with Daya Bumi and ending up with the Twin Towers!! And possibly he ran out of shiok sendiri programmes at the time so he needed to say things that gave him that shiok sendiri feeling. Am sure he would have regaled at the applause he would have got and a few days of headliners….or were the MSM told not to report these as they were only for shiok sendiri purposes and not for the consumption of the general public?
Anyway, you gotta excuse him if the purpose was solely shiok sendiri….and come on la bro…when you go and shiok sendiri, is it for anyone else’s pleasure ah?

But the people know…..it is daylight robbery.I just saw some attachments….sent by a friend, pictures relating to the housewarming of Mukriz Mahathir.
Why did his father educate us with the slogan “Look East” when his own son is living it up in a palatial, Western-style house, replete with swimming pool, fancy lights, music, pretty women, glitz and glamour….the house, not a home, looks a replica of a Hollywood establishment say in the famous Malibu beach area. The type of house, you know has been planned to host filthy rich parties which only a select people belonging to a commonwealth society will attend.
Haris thanks for the quote from Mahathir Senior, his son is showing us “a confident Malaysian society infused with strong moral and ethical values.” Take a look at these pictures everyone, and you will see a one-sided Vision of Glory that is the meaning of 1Malaysia.

Since the time of tun m, he prolly had installed a very “devious and diabolical concept” which basically go in the line of : malaysia for malays only – oh yeah by hook or by crook where lies are the number one action every unmo’s must possess.
Everything has been changed then to reflect “unmo’s supremacy(authoritarianism)” – from every aspect of society esp. history has been changed and distorted to perpetuate their plans which is still an on going mutation.
Every leader in unmo might have changed but they still live by the devious concept and thats the reason why they CANNOT change.
In brief, the useless PMs rhetoric of one malaysia is only a ploy or even if he meant it he has no virtuosity to back it up and he never will.

Salam I heard a song a few days ago that I really like and that I think you’d like too. In my opinon at least it shows not to stand down and let the government take over while sweet talking us, but to speak out our mind and voice our opinion without fear or hesitation.
THhe song is called Know Your Enemy
The band is called Greenday
You can check it out on youtube or other music video sharing websites like mtv.com or stuff like that.
There’s just meaning to it that is almost completely inspirational to Malaysian citizens:
THe enemy:Najib, most BN politicians and hobos
The lies not to be blinded by:THe stuff that comes out f Najib’s mouth.
Revolution:Equal rights for all citizens of malaysia no matter what your race is (except for hobos)
In case you are still reading this comment I might as well fill you in: Here are the lyrics:
Do you know the enemy,
Do you know your enemy,
Well gotta know the enemy wahey x3
Violence is an energy,
Against the enemy,(hobos)
Well violence is an energy wahey
Bringing on the fury,
The choir infantry(citizens)
Revolt against the hounour to obey(mykad)owei owei
Overthrow the effigy,
The vast majority,
While burning down the foreman of control owei owei
Silence is the enemy,
Against your urgency (not the kind where you have to go potty)
So rally up the demons of your soul,(wah… demons? you’d better watch out Najib… and hobos!)
Do you know the enemy,
Do you know your enemy,
Well gotta know the enemy wahey x2
THis urgency will rise (dont worry the rise is not in your bladder)
When th blood’s been sacrificed(not actually meaning to slit yourself but rather effort and time)
Dont be blinded by the lies … in your eyes SAY
*****************************************************
Well violence is an energy, owei owei
Well, from here to eternity, owei owei
Well, violence is an energy, owei owei
Well, silence is the enemy SO GIMME GIMME REVOLUTION!!!!
*****************************************************
Do you know the enemy,
Do you know your enemy,
Well gotta know the enemy wahey x2
Overthrow the effigy,
The vast majority,
While burning down the foreman of control owei owei
Silence is the enemy,
Against your urgency
So rally up the demons of your soul
End.
Not the “violence is an energy part does not mean you slould beat Najib to death with a baseball bat(though I wouldn’t blame you if you did)

The name Melayu is an Indian word to denote hills or mountain range. There is a place in South India called Melayur.
Indigenous people who marry Muslim Indians from Melayur identified themselves as Melayur.
Over time, as the Malay kingdom spead through insular SEA, the word Melayur became simply as Melayu.
If one were to do genetic test on the modern Malay in Peninsula Malaysia, they would invariably carry genetics from Indian to explain the darker complexion and kinky hair of most Malays as opposed to the Mongolid look of some Malays of original Malayo Polynesian, Dusun or Dayak stocks.
The real natives or indigenous people of the Peninsula Malaysia can be found in the Northern parts of Peninusla Malaysia apart from the aborigines.

AT LAST!. Now I can quit ALL my party posts and even retire (I am already 59) from the Political Secretary post to Subang MP. I only want to focus on this ANAK BANGSA MALAYSIA CRUSADE for the rest of my years on this earthly pilgrimage. Thank You Jaya, Haris, Danny, Pat Lu and not forgetting Marcus.
AT Least People’s Parliament is back on track…Long wait for me.. Since 31 Aug 2007 @ Blog House Opening..very prophetic that the panel of speakers were..Zaid Ibrahim, Malik Imtiaz, Jayanath, Bernard Khoo, Haris Ibrahim and one other fallen brother..
MARCUS, RPK THANK YOU

Your factual insight arising from a detailed inspection of forgotten ( except for you ) past records reconfirms your sharp analytical capacity & dedication to the truth , while the salient points raised are excellent food for thought. All minus the get-noticed-quick rants and raves normally associated with articles of this nature.
A rare worthy read from out of the Mess called Malaysian socio political Blogs ( aka “everybody has one why not me?” ).
