Lil’ Hummingbird caught up with me for drinks last night.
“Zul got a battering from most of those at the PKR politburo meeting earlier. Most made it clear that this fool had become a liability to the party and would no longer be tolerated.”, he volunteered, as he beckoned the waitress to attend to his near-empty glass.
“Guess who came to his aid, though, and saved his sorry ass, for now at least?”, he asked, practically emptying the glass that had just been filled.
“Who?”, I asked, just as I caught the attention of the waitress and signalled her to get him another pint.
“Big Chief Sitting Bull and his two sidekicks,”, he volunteered.
“Who the hell is that?”, I asked.
“Damn it, can’t you even figure that one out?”, he threw back at me.
“Who?”, I repeated, my impatience showing.
“Anwar, as lead counsel, Azmin and Jui Meng playing second fiddle.”, he rattled.
“Aw, come on. Even Malaysiakini reported yesterday that Anwar had said that this time the idiot had gone too far, and had demanded an explanation from Zul. Having taken such a position publicly, why the about-turn now?”, I asked, unable to hold back my dsibelief at what I had just been told.
“Aiyoh, you are so @#$%^&* naive. Bloody politician, isn’t he? When do they ever say anything and really mean it? They just tell us what they’re sure we want to hear. Bloody sandiwara, that’s what it was. A lot of ‘cakap tak bikin’.”
“You know why? Anwar’s afraid of how Malay voters will react if Zul is sacked or suspended for what some may perceive as he having acted in defence of Islam. So what does he do? Orders Zul to shut the @#$% up and send this matter to the Disciplinary Committee of the party. That way, if the DC takes any decisive action, at least no one can point a finger at Anwar. Better still, may be between now and when the DC is supposed to hear this matter, something else will come up to draw attention away from this idiot’s latest antics,”, he went on.
“People, even within the party, are beginning to talk, though.”, he offered, and, deliberately, I think, left it at that.
I took the bait.
“Ok, what’s the talk?”, I asked.
He looked impishly at his empty glass.
“Miss, one more for my friend, please”.
“Zul has Big Chief by his you-know-what. Nobody knows quite what it is, though. At least, no one is saying anything. Just yet.”, he blurted, as he gulped down the newly arrived pint.
He got up to go, but paused long enough to promise to go dig for details if he thought I’d be a little bit more generous next time round.

Hmmm .. someone else is saying almost the same thing –
http://khookaypeng.blogspot.com/2010/01/will-zulkifli-nordin-be-punished.html
Is Anwar still stuck in a rut with race-based blinkers while playing his perennial ‘off-topic’ run-ins with the MIBs?
I guess every team needs a ‘water-boy’ but in this case, the wooden spoon remains .. errr … timbered in perpetuity.
Analogously, “Buridan’s ass”.

Dear Haris,
1. Did I not told you so?
2. Like I said in your Facebook, your SABM project is a good initiative but the moment you made it pro-PR and anti-BN/Government, it really make your cause a lost cause.
3. You can of course deny that SABM is non political etc…but going to such event and listening to the people giving talks and the videos being played…it is just too obvious.
4. You admitted you did not trust Anwar Ibrahim completely in one of your old posting.
5. Yet you still let your guards down and fallen for his “charm”. I dont blame you.
6. Many people do. A lot of the innocent Chinese youth in PKR who got “awaken” by reading RPK’s piece, adore this “chameleon”.
7. But as the Malays saying goes :
” Sepandai-pandai tupai melompat akhirnya jatuh ke tanah jua…”
8. Anwar Ibrahim does not give a damn about the rakyat or PR.
9. When PR needed him post Bagan-Pinang, he was busy touring the world getting support from world leaders for his up-coming trial
10. Look at the events being held by PKR, what is the topic? Is it about corruption? Is it about GST? Is it about how to help the rakyat? NO
11. The topic is how Anwar is innocent and is being framed…lol
12. Pakatan Rakyat is a joke. It will die once Anwar is jailed. Too many internal disagreements.
13. Hopefully once GE 13 is over, we can all unite under the government of BN and PR acting as a strong opposition in Parliament.

Apa ini selalu cakap pasal “ketuanan rakyat”? Adakah apa yang DSAI cakap benar? You are such a real real letdown DSAI. How can you be a PM when you are so indecisive? Did Mahathir bothered about the Malay votes when he sacked you? Come on, you failed when it matters! How can you rule a country when you cannot even control PKR? Is PKR made up of heroes and without system, principles and ideology? You can keep the guy and lose 34 other parliamentary seats come the next GE. Perhaps Datin Seri may maintain Permatang Pauh. Sick, sick, sick, working for your cause day and night and you cannot take a small decision on someone who had so blatantly disrupted the spirits of comradeship in PR. UMNO is not going to destroy PR, Anwar Ibrahim is. I can tell you this, there will be more to come. Your charm and charisma can only take you so far. As one of your staunchest supporter, I am also giving up to go home disappointed, what will the rest of Malaysians think? Where is the 3rd force minus Anwar Ibrahim? Anwar Ibrahim is fighting only for his own cause not the Rakyat! What is wrong for Anwar to fight from being jailed. What is wrong to highlight to the people the grave injustice being done to him? Nobody in their sound mind would willingly go to jail if they are innocent. And if he is so busy fighting for himself how is he going to take care of others properly? The fault is not his but the enemy, who is too strong and evil.
Of course if free don’t you think he can serve us better, then in jail? Of course he is under tremendous pressure from within and without and just give him some space to come to a decision ok?

The People’s Parliament should not indulge in gossip and insinuations. Referring a case to the disciplinary committee is a process in any HR management formula to ensure that due process is followed. If in the event that the powers that be in a corporation (or in this case, a political party) ignores the findings of the committee, esp. when it has happened once previously, then by all means it deserves all the brickbats that we can heap upon it. But to resort to gossip and insinuations is below the dignity and respect The People’s Parliament is accorded by its readership. In the case at hand, I wouldn’t want to make Zulkifli Nordin a hero and give him the opportunity to pose as a victim when in fact he is the aggressor.

Please don’t abandon the party just because of him. For a man with “Sword of Damocles,” hanging over his head he is already displaying very, very GREAT COURAGE.

What ideology? Where and what? We need more professionals like Datuk Zaid. If you can read between the lines, he is on the verge of giving up. Please understand Datuk Zaid is an administrator, and he gets things organized.
I am one of DSAI’s staunchest supporters since the first day of reformasi. Pictures taken with DSAI and Datin is still proudly displayed in the hall, but, really, this Zul guy had disrupted the peace in PR far too often, and action must be taken. It had been far too often! And drastic measures, nothing short of the sack has got to be taken. Please understand that PKR today is a hypermarket and there has got to be a system of administration, clear cut principles, clear cut ideologies, not piece meal effort to solve an issue everytime a problem crops up.
You need to understand the hardwork done by all while Anwar was resting in Sungai Buloh. Why should RPK sacrifice everything to take care of PKR during its infancy? You know, its the care the pain that we feel, that makes us to take a decision for ourselves. Too much time and efforts had been spent, but, DSAI’s indecision is so so discouraging. He has to sacrifice Zul for the betterment of PR. Is Zul more important or PR?
Anyway, think it is best to go back to our routine than to be involved in this effort for change, because there do not seem to be light at the other end of the tunnel. I will be returning to my homeland and take a long long rest and await DSAI’s decision before deciding whether to continue with reformasi or just give up. DSAI has got to take a decision and fast, as Sungai Buloh again beckons. If he fails to see the situation, and use his heart instead of his head to take a decision, then, God Bless Him!

There seems to be some confusion about the issue.
The issue is not about Islam.
The issue is not about Allah.
The issue is not about the Malays.
The issue is wilful violation of party discipline and leadership directives.
The issue is putting the party to public ridicule and contempt.
The issue is jeopardizing the party’s relationship with PAS.

Anwar is doing the right thing – he does not own PKR and the decision whether to expel Zul is not for him to decide alone or influence, especially as the Ketua Umum – that should be left to the respective committee. Even TG Nik Aziz and Najib would do the same if Zul is from their party.
Rahim Daud

Yeah, thinking about it, I agree with this.
It is not for Anwar to sack anyone. It all has to go through due process, and I hope they disciplinary committee and the subsequent party decisionmaking results in a possible sacking as Zulkifli Noordin does not adhere to party lines anymore.
I think we should be patient, and PKR on its part MUST convene a disciplinary board meeting as soon as possible and come out with a recommendation as soon as possible — not wait till the end of the 1-month duration given to do so.

dear harris,
feel frustrate? feel remorseful for not following your first instinct of not trusting Anwar Ibrahim? i wouldn’t mind being a cheer leader for someone but certainly not for a chameleon like this guy! Remember this guy was a Malay extremist when it suited his agenda but when being Islamist was a fashion of the day, he convincingly became one to the extent that he was seen to be better than Abdul Hadi Awang himself. Then again, when people in Malaysia started to follow the international community lead in giving emphasis on human rights he again became the champion for the course. Got the picture? Not that I’m saying being Islamist, in progressive form is antithesis to human rights but being a Malay extremist in the Malaysian context and having a fan club for being so and suddenly turning his face to say that he is not is quite amazing, to say the least. And the proof that he still habours some extremist tendencies came in the form of his reluctance to take action on this Zulkifli guy on the convulated reason that it might offend the Malays! Then what about the PKR’s stand on the “Allah” issue?! Is it a matter of political expediency or a personal thing, one wonders!

Babicina,
Once bitten, twice shy, twice bitten, never try! I had told myself enough is enough until I read bro Harris writings today, and I feel I have a duty to continue with our efforts for change. One thing you need to be absolutely clear is, we are fighting for a cause and not for any individual. While I sympathize with DSAI, over his personal problems, I must say, he cannot afford to dilly dally on this matter any further. A quick decision is needed. It is sickening to see reports after reports that PKR reps here and there are quitting. Something must be seriously wrong with the leadership or the administration of the party! Datuk Zaid’s ability and potentials had not been fully harnessed due to reasons best known to the PKR fraternity. There just are too many stumbling blocks for potential leaders, or people with convictions to serve, people with ability to lead and people with ability to contribute for the betterment of society to really gel themselves into this party due to intense politickings from within.
Again remember, the bulk of dissatisfied voters, Malaysians, remain and continue to grow larger by the day, but, inview of all that had happened within PR, they are growing tired by the day. We cannot continue to rely on this bunch of jokers and continue to hero worshipped them. No way! Remember, we made them what they are, but their inability to make use of the opportunity, does not speak well of their leadership quality. Remember, no one is indispensable, we are the revolution! Continue your support babicina.

The Mid-hill Monk comments:
Anwar’s indecisive and wavering stance on Zul’s atrocious behaviour confirms the long-held opinion of many that Anwar is NOT the leader we are made to believe. If ha can’t handle a simple party disciplinary problem, how could he ever govern the country? All doubts on AI’s capability as a political leader have been confirmed by this episode. If Pakatan Pakyat still believes that AI is the de-facto leader, then PR is at best a lame and handicapped party which is unlikely to be able to govern our country effectively and judiciously if given the opportunity by the Rakyat. We have to turn to the NGOs and the civil societies for political leadership. We should send politicians, both BN and PR, to the sanatorium and allow civic-minded and morally upright people to lead this country out of the current madness towards a better future for all.
Leaders fall because of their advisers. With Azmin and Chua Jui Meng, a once-aspiring MCA president who got rejected, one can gauge AI’s level of political leadership.
The Rakyat has to ask themselves:can PR be our saviour?

Ask anyone who have dealt with Anwar during his time in Umno and they will tell you who is he but some say he has repented.
I can’t say much of his personal life but his former schoolmates sure can.
For Anwar:
“You can cheat some people all the time, all the people at one time but you can’t cheat all the people all the time”
For others who believe he has repented:
“Being cheated is sad but cheating yourself is really dumb”

I kinda expected it. Anyway, I will not judge PR just because of a few turncoats. I will still support PR, and hopefully with some new leadership from Haris & Co, we the People will still be able to gather enough support to throw out UMNO in the next election. It will take another 20 years to clean up the judiciary, police, macc, civil service etc, if we can topple them. So, I’ve decided not to get too worked up (no more highs and lows!) and manage my expectations, ‘coz it’s going to be a very long journey to rebuild this country!
In the meantime, let’s stop quarrelling over how we call ‘God’ in our prayers. We should all pray to ‘Allah’ together in the Malaysians’ Prayer, “Ya Allah, we thank You for Your gifts of oil, timber, mineral and grain. But then the devil sent us a corrupt Prime Minister without a Brain, robbed us of our national wealth and we are set backward many years. Ya Allah, please take this corrupt PM back to Hell And we will be well and alive, and eternally grateful as a Nation. Ameen!”

Ya Allah, hear this the people’s prayer

Hey, many of non-PKR members speak from a theoretical perspectoive, adding speculation to innuendoes and rumours that don’t help the Agenda for Change or Oppoisition cause.
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim/DSAI spent six years in jail on what many of us believed was conviction on trumped up charges. He knew how rotten UMNO had fallen and so he divorced from UMNO to enhance PKN-PKR founded by his wife Datin Wan Azizah.
Now DSAI is facing a REPEAT (remember de javu?) of what got him into jail away from politics, and here socalled supporters for CHANGE/Reformation to overthrow the evil BN-UMNO government are adding fuel to fire to indulge in non-production speculation and innuendoes to hurt DSAI’s fight to remain free to prepare Pakatan Rakyat for GE13 — if you people can’t help his cause, at least pray for him to remain strong instead of pouring cold water. This guy need aall the spiritual strength to fight the UMNO regime known for its CRUL AND ILLEGAL WAYS OF DEMOLISHING THIE ENEMIES — forgetten about Salleh Abas’ sacking, VK Lingam, Eusoff Chin, Teong Beng Hock already?
I’m going to share a personal case of referencing a party activist — let’s call him AA — to PKR Hq for action — I accompanied 2 AA’s victims, ch=eated of RM2,000 minus RM1,000; the other of about RM20,000. After due process by the Disciplinary Committeee, this AA was warned to behave himself. At least he had to remove the pictures of party leaders, including DSAI and Wan Azuu=izah on his four-wheeler, and now he has quietened down and no more going around Seremban town “conning” more victims, or has he? I’m citing this case that even for a lesser known PKR member (not a wakil rakyat), IT OULD BE DICFFICULT TO BUILD A CASE TO HAVE AA SACKED, what more when Zul Noordin is an MP!
