Viveg commented at 12.59am : Situation in Bukit Mertajam is quite tense. Just came back from BM police station. Received call from friend that people in Raja Uda, Butterworth (Chinese area) are extremely angry. Went to the Berapit Kampung Baru to see a friend and he informed me that the mood is the same. They know where to push the people to make them angry. Please help put up a post to calm down the people as Malaysia Today, People’s Parliament and Malaysiakini has the widest coverage. I just don’t want the people to walk into the trap they have set.
abu sayap commented at 1.18am : I would like to call upon all Malaysians to do these:
1. Remain calm
2. Do not do anything rash
3. Do not take to the street
4. Do not be instigated by people to demonstrate
5. Just voice it out in your blog, your comments to the blogs, and inform your friends and relatives about the situation
6. Call your Aduns or MPs and voice out your objection about these arrests and urge your representatives to voice out
7. Members of political parties, sms your leaders to pressure them to voice out
We shall object to these draconian acts by using civility and do not fall into the traps of giving the big brother a chance to declare emergency rule……
Viveg’s got every reason to be concerned and abu sayap’s advice is spot on.
___________________________________________
It does look as if BN’s implosion has gone into overdrive.
Question is who’s driving this new Ops?
Angry reactions to the arrests today by Gerakan secretary-general Chia Kwang Chye and MCA Youth legal bureau Gan Ping Sieu might suggest that this may have been decided upon without consultation with BN component parties.
Or is this akin to the Najib-Lee Kim Sai wayang kulit of 1987?
Whoever’s behind it, we know what they want.
They hope to create fear in as many of us as is possible.
And they hope to stir angry reactions in some of us.
Don’t fear them. Fight them.
But we fight them on our terms and on our call.
We fight them smart.
They’ve started to intimidate the MSM with show cause notices to three newspapers and detained Sin Chew’s Tan Hoon Cheng.
RPK’s been taken in and word is out that a few other bloggers, myself included, are next.
They’re trying to curb newsreporting so that they have a greater control on reporting of what might soon follow.
What might soon follow may well be in some way connected with Ahmad Ismail’s announced road show through the country to explain to party divisions about the controversy.
Recall what he has been saying first at the ceramah before the election and at his two press conferences and you would have a good idea of what will be canvassed through the country.
Their going to try and agitate reactions from us on the ground.
Enough reaction for them to lay blame for the same on others that they are targeting to detain.
Our opposition politicians. The very ones who we hope will soon take over the reigns of the federal government.
And then emergency law.
Don’t fall for this. Don’t let this happen.
We fight them smart and on our terms.
I’m going to add one more point to abu sayap’s list.
As I write this, I know that Pakatan politicians are hard at work trying to deliver this nation from this evil that is on the throes of death. I know that DAP has got its legal team looking into YB Teresa’s situation. RPK’s legal team has got down to work as I’m sure has the team of lawyers for Hoon Cheng.
You and I will have to do our part.
First, we do not fear them or fall for their agitations.
Then, we send messages out to everyone we know and who trust us and tell them the same. BN is going to try and cause trouble so please stay calm and do not react.
It’s important that we send these messages out.
A vigil for tonight at Bukit Aman has been announced. Do not fear. Go. Continue to sms to all you know to attend. And keep it peaceful.
A solidarity will be held on 15th September at the Kelana Jaya stadium. Do not fear. Go. Continue to sms to all you know to attend. And keep it peaceful.
As I write this, initiatives are being planned. They will be announced throughout blogosphere.
These initiatives cannot work without your optimum participation.
Oh, and if they do take me in, this blog will not shut down. Arrangements have been made.

These is too much. It seems that it’s all UMNO’s individual acts without the knowledge of its component parties.
It’s unbearable living under such devilish govt. These deplorable acts within UMNO are totally uncivilised. I on behalf of rightful Malaysian am deeply upset with all these nonsense. I can imagine the ordeal of me myself being unlawful, injustice locked up and arrested by the mobs all of the sudden.
I urge the BN’s MP who went to Taiwan do not bow to such luxuries seduction brought by the tops. Karma will take its course as behind all these blood money are sacrifice and silent killer beared by the Malaysian in the years of earning a living.
Please make a difference for the betterment of Malaysia.

Lots of people sending out advise for Chinese to remain calm, so if there is any real street violence, its fake. Even MCA and Gerakan will not be a party to such a stupid idea. Hell, I think they could not even get the beggars and gangster to do it. Chinese are not that divided.
This whole thing sounds just stupid more than anything else. Someone has lost their marbles upstairs!!
I think there is a threat but its within the very top leadership of the govt.
Why did Badawi mention RPK but not Kok/Tan and the papers in his comments on RPK. Why is RPK arrestted in the morning while Kok and Tan is in the evening? Something is seriously wrong..

September 13, 2008
Got it. I am extremely furious now, but I agree, we cannot and should not act rashly. We’ll see this through no matter what. This is a clear act of intimidation.
At times like this, we must be united. They are trying to instigate the Chinese. Why else would they lock up Tan and Kok now? Do NOT fall into this trap.
We will NOT let them use us as pawns to fight against each other.
Remember always that we are all Malaysians. It is the evil regime that we are against.
Haris, stay strong and stay safe. We are behind you all the way.
Lastly, I would advise people to verify any “news” that you may get through SMSes or “words on the street”. Think before you act. If you know anything to be untrue, send out SMSes to stop the rumor.

“UMNO : We warned you people before… when pushed into a corner, we go amok…just like our great leader Mahathir s/o Iskandar Kutty taught us!
How could you expect us to remain the Government without your votes? Now we will arrest all Chinese and Indians. Just wait till our RM$500 billion expension of Kamunting Camp is completed in 2020!”
I told this dunghead “Pookeemak, go amok also must spend $500B and some more must wait until 2020. Now bend over, see if I can sodomise you any further than your lung?
Anyway, UMNOpookeemak, when are you going to arrest me?”

Haris you are right – messages HAVE to be sent to as many people as possible about the impending…
They may also send thugs to start off trouble at Kelana Jaya or the Bukit Aman vigil and hope for it to spill over to the streets for them to go about with their plan. Whatever it is, we people should not react – passive resistance should be the key to every provocation.
Whatever happens, God will protect you, RPK and the others who continue to put the country above self, as always.

The sinister hands of Najib and Abdullah are at play here and Raja Petra Kamaruddin is being targeted not for his writings on Islam – not that I see anything written against Islam there- but on his reportings of UMNO’s rotting of the country.

You are spot-on, Bro’ Haris. This time around, only smart strategies and tactical measures will enable us to overcome them. Emotional outbursts in the streets would just aggravate matters further.
With “everyone” concerned hard at work round-the -clock, let’s just persevere a little longer and pray for YM RPK’s, Ms Tan’s, and YB Teresa’s safety.
If the PR Government has already those “claimed numbers”, then do the needful, soon! We can’t wait any longer.

You are right, this is merely instigated to provoke racial disharmony. Why don’t we propose to have as many as possible and volunteer ourselves to have the gomen arrest us. See how many can they detain and whether Kamunting have enough places for all of us, 10,000, 20K 30K? We will tell the gomen that we do not mind being with The reporter, RPK and Teresa inside this detention camp. After all, is only for a few days as DSAI and PR shall form a new govt to release us. Any one interested to take a chance with free lodging and food. Life inside is not that bad, it will be exciting with so many of us, we will have fun inside the camp. Since if there are many of us, the authorities will think twice if they abuse their power. I for one will not hesitate to volunteer to be inside. How long can the gomen detain us if there are so many to feed and to control us inside this camp will be a gigantic task. These idiots, believe me will be outnumbered by us.
Ang Tan Loong,
Have noted your e-mail address. May take you up on this.

It is very obvious that they are pissing in the pants.
Ops Lalang II.
Indeed, they are trying to incite anger and protests, so that they have a reason to impose emergency rule, and avert the fall of the Badawi Government. They are likely hoping that things will calm down, and this will give them time to put their house in order, and hopefully, after a few years, people would have forgotten about things (fat hope!).
I anticipate that the moment Anwar announces the crossover and topple of the government, he will be ISAed, on grounds of being a threat to national security.
They can intimidate, but they cannot intimidate all of us. We will do something about it.
It is just a matter of time before they go.
We hope that Anwar and key figures, including yourself will be spared. I am sure you know that many of us stand behind this smouldering desire to see a better future for Malaysia and our children.

Find it difficult to accept the situation.
If UMNO met and Ahmad Ismail was suspended three years, it must have been after some kind of investigation and they found him guilty. Then why now arrest the journalist who exposed it??
Then now Teresa Kok. If my neighbour’s radio is played too loud I too will go and report it to the Police. If there is too much noise from the Azan, can’t I report it? Is is too much to ask Muslims to be sensitive to others (even to other Muslims)? For such an incident, the ISA?
But about two years ago when a few hundreds of Muslims entered a church compound in Ipoh disrupted and intimidated the christians there, purportedly based on SMS rumours, no case, no arrests. Even the Mufti of Perak is free.
And what when a few weeks ago the Bar Council Forum was disrupted by some Muslims?
The PM said that no race in our country can be subjugated by another. What a joke!!
That is the state of the country.

MORONIC PEEM AND BOTAK HOME MINISTER LAST DESPERATE ATTEMPTS TO CLING ON POWER WITH FEAR TACTICS
To all BN components’ MPs with consciences, throw them out tomorrow to welcome a new Dawn of Malaysia with the divine grace.
Was UMNO so scared of RPK that they have to place him under ISA arrest? Or they have now collaborated with the murderers of Altantuya because more dirty linens have to be washed in Public that leave the Guilty C4 no choice despite his Swearing Circus & in order to silence RPK by placing him away safely is by using ISA to avoid more revelations of their crimes if he is taken to court under the sedition charges???

Playing hop scotch and hide and seek, and involuntarily at that, and you still want to be politically correct about naming names!!
Just my theory o.k., and just based on events reported in the Mainstream. This is what I wrote in Marina Mahathir’s blog. (Sorry for cut and paste job!)
This is all about reciprocity. The cost of humiliating one UMNO Member has to be paid for by a factor of a hundred those seen to be enemies.
O.k. they have cited racial and religious incitement or what ever.
But Tan Hoon Cheng and Teresa Kok? Even the Gods will go mad over this.
Now, maybe when Operation Lalang 1 took place I might have even said that it was a stroke of ingenuity that put a simmering fire out. (Sorry for that attitude at that time)
This?? Now this is a bloody joke surely! All credibility is lost.
This is appeasement of UMNO members for the scapegoating of one UMNO member.
This is a show of an example of their power when it should be the power of their examples that they should be pursuing.
This is desperation of an ill thought out adventure.
Theresa Kok’s arrest rubbishes any threat they might say all these people pose.
Who are the culprits?
Badawi is now impotent. So he can be ignored.
Najib can’t be pairing off with Badawi and he has already said that depite the transition over in 2010, the members can decide if it might be sooner. Is he suggesting Badawi to step down and not contest?
Najib needs a Tonto. He has got Syed Hamid Albar. Albar was never in the equation before for Deputy PM, but now he finds himself in.
Kuli is making moves. Muhiddin is saying things. Kuli and Muhiddin jointly see Mahathir.
So now you have Kuli and Muhideen teeming up against Najib and Syed Albar.
Najib has an advantage. He has access to the apparutus of Government. He has access to the police and the Army. He moves. If he can achieve what he wants, Badawi will soon be out. He will be PM, Albar will be Deputy PM. Kuli will forever be Kuli. And Muhdeen will have his nice guy reputation quite intact as well.
Question is, is Mahathir pushing the buttons? And if so why? He has too much to lose maybe? Already at the state level if so much abuse can be revealed in so little a time, does Mahathir only trust Najib to go in and clean out any trails leading to him within the shortest time possible knowing UMNO will fall?
God bless this country. (Oops..for the moment God, just save this country).

The locals held their ground, watched and took note. The PBS called for a re-election and won with a bigger majority.

Dear Haris
We are indeed blessed to have people like you, RPK & ALL the others who fearlessly stand up for justice & peace against a horribly racist & corrupt government which has no integrity & no respect whatsoever for the PEOPLE!
I have received many messages since yesterday. Here are some of the peaceful actions being recommended, which I would like to share with everyone :
1) “Our country enters a phase of naked display of agression. When a regime is morally bankrupt, it will use immoral means to hold on to power. We might be weak, but we still have the power of prayer & silent witnessing. There will be silent adoration after mass this evening until tomorrow morning @ SFX Church in P.J. All Catholics & people of goodwill are invited to come & pray before the Lord. The unjust may break our bones but they can’t break our spirit.”
2) “As a mark of people protest against govt action of using ISA against Raja Petra, Teresa Kok & Ms Tan, we should stay home & not go to work on Sept 16. Action against ISA & Corrupt Govt (AICG)”
3) “A govt that is not transparent, that is racist, corrupt & with no respect for the Constitution of the People, doesn’t deserve to rule. Boycott Petronas, Star, NST & GLCs. Time for Change & the time is NOW! Give life back to Democracy! Makkal Sakhti!”
4) “The clouds are blocking the moon. Light a candle. Say a prayer. Sing a song to the Lord. He hears the cry of the victims of injustice.”
Take care, dear Haris. Will keep praying for the change we are all waiting for to become a reality so that the ISA can be abolished & all detainees released, & so that this beloved country of OURS can heal & move forward to a far better tomorrow.

Dear Malaysians, in this time of calamity, please, please be calm. Do not take to the streets. The goondas are just prodding us on to do just that. We will not give in. When we stay calm they cannot do much. They want us to react so that they can use that as an excuse to declare, maybe, emergency and curfew. Then all PR’s plans to take over will be upset. We, the people, will not allow that to happen. We will lend support to DSAI & PR to take over and all our friends behind ISA will be free.

What would i do if i were Pak Lah?
Options:
ISA could imposed on people creating instability and public disorder:-
a)Keadilan leaders – namely Anwar, and the rest for causing rumors of kicking out the present gov’t
b)DAP leaders for supporting Keadilan’s goals
c)PAS – possibility if PAS sided too strongly with Keadilan & DAP
d)Tun DrM: definitely, he’s creating public disorder by asking Pak Lah to step down, thus causing instability to the country
e)International Minister Muhiddyin for asking the present leader to step down, thus causing public fear
f)The rest of the UMNO members (najib, ahmad of penang, Ku Li, etc) : well, once i have done d & e, the rest would just toe the line
g) ISA MCA & Gerakan & other BN leaders, if they dared to leave the coalition cos that would cause public disorder to the country & instabilities
Enough is enough!

Dear Haris,
You are doing a good job in keeping us all informed about the latest developments. And your advice of fighting them on our terms, similar to Gandhi’s passive resistance, is very sound. But take care, as they are likely to go for you. God bless and protect you always.

The mad cow disease have infected the head of the herd, now they are roaming wildly, just take caution. The signs coming from these mad cows, are self-destructing. Just be patient. Our day will come.
These unproductive acts are definitely, not from a responsible govt. It is a disgrace.

Dear Haris,
I have heard about a protocol used in other nation’s civil movement as a way of protecting crowds from sabotaged by infiltration during mass gatherings.
The protocol as used in the gathering goes something like this:
a) Before the gathering or at the beginning of gathering, the organizer inform every participants that if the organizer(s) shout “Sit on the ground — everyone, no exception”, then everyone must sit down.
b) During the gathering, if there is small disturbance (which could likely be infiltration from “enemy”) emerge to purposely create unrest, then the Organizer(s) can call out the exact words “Sit on the ground — everyone, no exception”. Then, pre-assigned workers shall quickly pull away anyone who refuse to sit down — and the views to seek out the ones standing up should be easy. This way the infiltration will fail to escalate the unrest.
I think the vigil and the Kelana Jaya getherings should be executed in a way preventing the infiltration from UMNO spies and instigators. We could do the prevention pretty easily with the above protocol.

The phrase below is taken from the movie V For Vendetta, which I felt reflected the current situation in malaysia very well. We however, do not need a vendetta. Bloodshed will only lead to the corrupt gaining more power, as these men thrive when the innocents are under duress.
“There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn’t there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who’s to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you’re looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn’t be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you’ve seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot. ” – V For Vendetta
We all have a fault in what’s happening today. Let’s right the wrong so that our future generations will have a better tomorrow.WE HAVE TO STAND FOR THE TRUTH, THIS IS NOT AN OPTION.

I am sad to see this happening to Malaysia, the action of the BN govt said one thing they don’t care for the country, they don’t care about the well being of the economy of the country and they don’t care what their action will cause. They are only interested in staying in power for their own ends.
This course of action mean one thing BN don’t care what happen to Malaysia but only how they can keep on enriching themselves by being in power.
Sad to see a govt don’t care for its people.

Dear Haris, what Ajip has written is very interesting. If you have read RPK’s article “the REAL story of May 13 (part 1)”, you will then agree that Agip has hit the problem right on spot.
The whole problem is about someone not wanting to step down and someone else who can’t wait to step up. The funny thing about UMNO is that they do not know how to go to the polls. So they purposely instigate racial tensions. When the people retaliate, they will start nabbing some scapegoats, clean the problem and then force their leader to step down.
History does repeat itself. We study history to learn from the mistakes made and to not make the same mistakes again. Many of those involved in the making of the history 20 years ago are still around. Maybe you can talk to them and learn something (or maybe you already have).
Anyway, just to remind you that you are dealing with some dangerous people. So, please be very, very careful. If RPK is good at writing, you have taught us how to think, to think with our head and not our heart. Can’t afford to lose you too.
Will be praying for you and everyone else.

I am concerned about these gatherings. I feel for all detained under the ISA. The govt doesn’t need any solid proof to catch & detain people. They do at their own will. Anyone seen as a threat to Umno will be “caught”. These gatherings will only provide them the means to start a racial riot, and then emergency rule. All they need to do is plant decoys & that’s it. They don’t want proof of identity of these trouble makers. As long as these plants are at these gatherings, they will simply say they belong to opposition. If there are no gatherings, they have no means to resort to this. We can still show our support and fight for RPK by voicing our disgust in the bloggersphere, not in the street. Please let’s not do anything foolish to foil Anwar’s plans to takeover.

Dear Harris
Me and my family of 4 are just so very relieved to hear that you are still safe. What can we do here in Sarawak to help the cause for Anak Bangsa Malaysia? I am just so very disgusted with the desperate moves of the UMNO government (sorry BN component parties – UMNO has ignored you guys)and feel so helpless and frustrated. But I am also aware of what the UMNO goons are trying to incite and will not be taken in by their instigation. I have just lighted my candle and placed it on top of my gatepost; I am not a religious person but today I pray to God for your safety and that of RPK’S, Teresa Kok and Tan Hoon cheng and all those true patriots who are risking their safety and lives to bring about a better Malaysia.
