Last Friday, late afternoon, I had my appointment with two officers at the Australian High Commission.
It was a good meeting.
Most informative.
For all, I dare say.
I will put in a fresh application for that visa next week and, this time, I hope it will be fairly considered, and approved.

Haris,
Way to go, matey 🙂
Now that the Aussies have spoken to you face-to-face, I am pretty sure that they’ve got the real picture and will exercise the principle of “a fair go” for which Aussies are, rightly, well-known for.
I’ve got a feeling there are many Malaysians in Australia who are eagerly waiting to hear you speak.
BTW, may I suggest that, in the event of a successful visa application, you give the earliest possible notice of your trip so some promotional efforts can be made to try and reach more Malaysians in Australia?

Early promo effort?
Why, that has already been carried out. Thanks to the 1st visa application rejection, Haris’ planned visit has received widespread publicity Down Under.
Given the Aussies’ deeply entrenched “fair dinkum” values, I think there is a good chance that the 2nd visa application will succeed.

KTWong87,
True, true, true, BN has probably done Haris a favour by getting Australia to block Haris, eh? 🙂
But, with all due respect, there are still many Malaysians in Australia who do not know of Haris or even that Haris is visiting.
Given the more liberal and tolerant society in Australia, there may be room to push for a wider Malaysian audience to attend any talks by Haris.
Anyway, as I understand it, there are some good organisers in Australia looking after Haris, so I am sure they will have their own promotional machinery ready to go 🙂

That’s the spirit, bro! First, to Australia, then to Putrajaya.
I am convinced enough that you will be saying “G’day mate” to the land of Kangaroos soon!

Aussie diplomacy…bloody hypocrisy! Remember Kevin Rudd, ex-PM of Australia, complimenting this pariah UMNO/BN govt for its vibrant democracy…I can puiit!
Haris, if you came down to Perth just give a shout…I buy you the best meal in the city.

wanderAUS,
Hopefully, this misunderstanding with Haris’s visa is due to some bureaucrat being prudent with the new change in the Australian Govt rather than Tony Abbot kissing Najib’s arse.
I certainly hope you get to buy Haris the best meal in Perth. He deserves it.
Maybe you can organise a talk for Haris in Perth to entice him to Perth?
Perhaps some of the guys organising talks for Haris in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne can help out with contacts you can ring to offer assistance?
Of cos, this assumes Haris has room on his schedule.

All those whose national pride is so badly and sorely injured and allowed to collapse by spoken English,(bravo English!) just give a thought to how good old Macdonald’s has successfully blunted your taste buds while at the same time been rather more accurate in capturing, I dare say, your mind and imagination.
It was not even a battle, it was plain hands on ‘friendly’ cheapskate, dangerously body- degenerating, hands-on friendly, and humble……. beef burger.
I’m not saying I don’t eat it .I do too,,for its easy cheap and cheerfulness, and if I give them credit, I still think, a Macdonald joint is a fresh air breather…you meet some very friendly fellow-human beings in there.
Has Macdonald’s taken the accolade from the BN government for making us ……One People?.
One Nation ?..hmmmmmm…is a rather more difficult, refined, sensitive art and one which places a heavy responsibility on one’s part to love your neighbour as yourself for the love of God Himself. And that is why , I dare say again, that One Nation is still not successful.
We have to ask the Jews how they made it eh? For instance!.

shakuntala,
The name, “One Nation”, was used by a loony woman in Queensland to contest for a Parliament seat.
The “Pauline Hanson’s One Nation” was, and still is, the object of ridicule and derision by the vast majority of Australians.
Pauline Hanson’s image and that of “One Nation” was not helped by one Simon Hunt, who changed his name, by deed poll, to “Pauline Pantsdown” in parody.
Simon Hunt is a horrible, horrible, evil, evil person but I like him 🙂

I sure will try to inform those in Melbourne and perhaps, a few in Sydney. I stayed in Perth for more than 30 years my contacts are in the West. You are perfectly right, Haris deserved my treat! No worries.

AABM…many thanks. In Pauline Hanson’s distorted, ridiculous view /concept of OneNation which can be likened to the distortions perpetrated by UMN/BN, of course One Nation cannot stand a chance…..
Anyway like religions which have not as yet been man’s salvation, and I dare say never will be, all concepts aimed at nation building will also fall by the wayside., if bigots are guiding. In reality people are natural, unless something is enforced upon them and then they become conditioned., which situation all of us are well aware of.
