UPDATE : The gathering has been moved to the Ipoh Stadium. Time unchanged
__________________________________
If he has not already, His Royal Highness the Sultan of Perak must soon make a decision.
Dissolve the state Legislative Assembly and allow the people of Perak to vote afresh to resolve the current political crisis in the state, or allow BN to try and form a viable state government.
His Royal Highness, who must have the interest of his subjects at heart, has a difficult task at hand, and it might make that task lighter if Perakians would take time out and try and convey to His Royal Highness their wishes.
Tonight, there is a planned gathering outside the Perak MB’s residence. God Willing, I too, will be there.
Whilst it is planned as a show of support for the MB and the Pakatan state government, let it primarily be a gathering to appeal to His Royal Highness to heed the wishes of the rakyat and not that of the politicians.
In that respect, please let the gathering be a peaceful one by the rakyat, and not one for powerful fiery speeches of politicians.
If His Royal Highness is to take on board and give effect to the wishes of his subjects, then you, his subjects, must communicate with His Royal Highness.
There is a an official website of the Sultan of Perak. You can access the same HERE.
That website provides the names and contact details of some of the important staff members of His Royal Highness. You can access the same HERE.
The website also has a Guest Book where visitors can send in comments. I’ve had a peek and already many have been sending in appeals there to His Royal Highness to dissolve the state legislative assembly and call for fresh elections. You can access the Guest Book HERE.
I particularly like this comment from the Guest Book :
Ampun tuanku,
Patik harap tuanku akan memperkenankan pembubaran Dewan Undangan Negeri Perak. Ini untuk mengembalikan kuasa kepada rakyat. Semoga Allah membalas jasa baik tuanku.
Harap maaf, ampun tuanku…

Well, sekiranya Tuanku yg amat terkenal sbg pengamal undang2 dikalangan rakyat Malaysia membenarkan BN memerintah secara tidak sah disisi undang-undang akan membuktikan Malaysian Judiciary is purely corrupted at all levels.
Rasuah berleluasa. Apakah ini yang kita mahukan?

Perhaps it is best described by Law Prof Shad Saleem according to the Star:
The Sultan, he said, had a heavy task when making a decision.
“He has to bear in mind that the palace’s reputation is at stake should defectors be rewarded with the possibility of being king-makers.
“It will be a bad precedent if a government is formed by relying on support by defectors.
“Party-hopping is a despicable activity no matter which party does it. Not only does it bring shame to the political process, it is also a bad way to form a government,” he added.
Dr Shad said the assembly should be dissolved and fresh elections held as the people should decide who they want instead of letting defectors decide.
“I say with sadness that if a new government is appointed without a dissolution, the new government will win the battle but in the long run, will lose the war as the people will not forgive or forget.
“A government that comes to power by wheeling and dealing leaves a bad taste in the mouth. The democratic thing to do is to go back to the people,” he added.
On speculation that a unity government may be formed, Dr Shad said that such governments were only formed in times of crisis or war, which was not the situation in Perak.

Dear Sir
Thank you for your suggestion. I had wanted to write something but I wasn’t sure of the protocol since I’m just a mere commoner.
I’m going to take your suggestion and post it on the guest book and also send to the officials in the Perak Sultan’s office.

An Open Letter to HRH.The Sultan of Perak
Your Royal Highness, The Sultan of Perak,
Ampun Tuanku !
You are the last resort to the people of this state. We trust that you are just and will fullfill the wishes of the people of your state.
The people of this nation became disenchanted with the Barisan National and democratically voted for the opposition so that they will have a well needed change. Change is happening everywhere in the world. In our present Mentri Besar Datuk Nizar, we had a glimpse of justice and honesty that has not been seen for many many years.
Here we found a new government trying to overcome its teething problems and with all its hopes and aspirations given on a fresh mandate by the people of this nation to rule peacefully. But as your highness would have come to know, they have been having constant challenges brought to them by the present federal government.
Overcoming all these hurdles, taking the aspirations of the rakyat they have come so far to be faced with this devastating issue.
The whole nation is shocked by the underhand methods taken. I request you humbly that your Highness allow the Perak State Government to hold fresh election to settle the political problem in the state.
Please help the rakyat to decide who they want as their representatives.
Daulat Tuanku !

Just posted :
Ampun Tuanku.
As a loyal Malaysian, I am very concerned about the developments in Perak. They are shocking to say the least.
Frankly, I’m not quite so concerned about our politicians leaping from one party to another (and even back again) at their whims and fancies, even though it makes everyone look like fools.
Neither am I really worried about the casualness at which these four politicians betrayed the trust of their electorate and party. They will get their just desserts in time.
What I’m concerned about is the unbridled eagerness of Barisan Nasional in accepting two tainted politicians into their fold just to seize control of the State. If their lack of ethics and morals is of no concern to Barisan Nasional, does that not speak volumes about the type of government Perak can expect under their leadership?
I implore you to dissolve the State Assembly and call for general elections in Perak. Let the people decide who they want to lead Perak into the difficult years ahead. Let the people decide on the fate of those four froggy members of the Perak state assembly.
Ampun Tuanku!

All the players have their assigned roles. We must thank Dr Mahathir, Abdullah Badawi, Khairy Jamaluddin and Najib Razak for taking on the roles of political villains and enemies of the rakyat – so that we the people could finally awaken from our long slumber of “cari makan” and reclaim our rightful power as free citizens.

Dear Sir,
I am very disappointed to see the response of some bloggers who seemed to have nothing to say when DSAI kept harping on Sept. 16th and are now calling on DYMM Sultan Perak to be guided. The whole idea of party hopping is an unethical phenomena that should not be encouraged by any politician worth his “salt”. Resign and call for by-elections. DSAI bandied it around for almost seven months and no one from the non-BN side advised him to stop. Now you are calling for people to gather to “guide” the DYMM , and that too without fiery speeches. Please…. do you realise what the consequences may be, or is just to have another avenue to create a sensitive situation for the authorities. “Many a road to hell is paved with good intentions. Please reconsider and reasses your options.

Dear Haris,
There we are pinning some hopes on our sultanate and monarch, that they, allegedly the last bastion of unsullied democratic hope, will exercise some gumption to wield the hitherto never been wielded power to ensure that fair play and justice are restored in our country.
What fat hopes. And what fools that we are!

From today onwards, whatever vestige of respect I have for this institution is gone.

I think it is inappropriate to have a mammoth rally to try and demonstrate support. The government has to be decided at the ballot box. And since both PR and BN have deemed in appropriate to try and form the government through party hopping, both have lost any grounds to denounce such actions.
Demonstrations is not a reflection of support. We should take note of what recently happened in Thailand. One party held the country to ransom until the govt fell. There was no dissolution. The King appointed someone from the then opposition to be PM. Now, the other party is holding demonstrations. Meanwhile, the country sufferred huge losses from tourism as december was the high period for Thailand.
PR did not use the period from the last GE till now to consolidate their partnership and agree on a common ground. PAS and DAP continue to shoot at each other. PKR sometimes appear to be another UMNO in different clothes. The term “Pakatan Rakyat” has been used so often to describe this partnership that I wonder why they did make it a legal coalition. Is it because they could not get agreement to be a coalition?
If any feel that Tuanku had not followed the constitution or the will of the people, please think again. I am quite sure that the Sultan had assessed clearly the situation and his constitutional position when making his decision. We need to respect that decision and hope PR will now go consolidate their partnership and their government in the other states.
Cheers.

I have read that under the constitution of Perak, the ruler has no right to sack the MB. He can merely ask and he has no power.
But now the “new” Perak government is about to be sworn in, according to news report. So what? He has no regard for the law, the constitution of his own state? He is being called a learned ruler?
Why is he in a rush? Why can’t he wait until the existing MB be legally removed from his post first? We can understand why BN is in a rush. But why him? He should be the guardian of our rights.

Sultan Azlan Shah’s statement
The following is the media statement issued by the office of Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, which was signed by the ruler’s private secretary, Col. Datuk Abd Rahim Mohamad Nor.
Media statement from the Office of DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan Perak Darul Ridzuan
Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin was granted an audience by Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan on Feb 4, to ask for his Royal Highness’s consent to dissolve the Perak State Assembly.
Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Razak, Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, also requested for an audience with his Royal Highness in his capacity as the Perak Barisan Nasional chairman and consent was granted to be present before his Royal Highness on Feb 5.
Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Mohd Najib informed that the Barisan Nasional and its supporters, now comprising 31 state assemblymen, had the majority in the State Assembly.
On the order of the Duli Yang Maha Mulia to ascertain that the information given was accurate, all the 31 state assemblyman were to present themselves before Paduka Seri Sultan.
After meeting all the 31 assemblymen, DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan of Perak was convinced that YAB Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin had ceased to command the confidence of the majority of the State Assembly members.
DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan of Perak had also considered thoroughly YAB Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin’s application on Feb 4, 2009 for his Royal Highness’s consent to dissolve the Perak State Assembly.
His Royal Highness had used his discretion under Article XVIII (2)(b) of the Perak Darul Ridzuan State Constitution and did not consent to the dissolution of the Perak State Assembly.
YAB Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin was summoned to an audience with the Sultan to be informed of his Royal Highness’s decision not to dissolve the State Assembly, and in accordance with the provisions of Article XVI(6) of the Perak Darul Ridzuan State Constitution, DYMM Paduka Seri Sultan of Perak ordered YAB Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin to resign from his post as Perak Mentri Besar together with the members of the state executive council with immediate effect.
If YAB Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin does not resign from his post as Perak Mentri Besar together with the state executive council members, then the posts of Mentri Besar and state executive councillors are regarded as vacant.
This statement is issued with the consent of Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Sultan of Perak Darul Ridzuan. — Bernama

Our democracy has become a real black joke. Anyone who has a bit of knowledge about government procedures would know how difficult it is to sack an office boy – the numerous verbal and written warnings and numerous transfers. But, you can fire the Menteri Besar overnight. The Perak MB has been treated as if he has committed a crime -instant vacanting of office. Whatever the constitutional laws may say,are there not more dignified ways to do things?
If a mere 3 defectors can topple the state government, why do we have general elections? Isn’t the ‘rule of law’ a mere mask of unbridled greed of power?
Those who gain power should be worthy of it. They should be able to show the people without shame that their level of moral integrity measures to the respect and trust of the people upon them.

This ex-postman how on earth, was PKR could have picked him ? Surely, Anwar or Azizah, surely, you can have better way of screening a prospective candidate. It was indeed an unfortunate occassion that had the opportunity to meet this Jama guy in his office. I was totally unimppressed to have met this so called Exco. Wow ! I was right on both counts, incompetent and cannot be trusted.

On hindsight Dr M’s effort to take away the power of the rulers was the right one. Now I think the rulers should not be more than a rubber stamp. They (ok, maybe only one) don’t care about the rule of law.
May I asked the more informed ones, does the way we see now to remove the MB of Perak a legal act? Do the rulers have the power to remove the MB?

I really feel like a fool.
All this time I followed and supported Pakatan Rakyat. But I was never comfortable with Anwar’s ‘forced takeover’ plan through defections ( read- UNETHICAL MEANS). This has come full circle. Anwar was boasting when the UMNO assemblyman defected ‘that more will follow’. Did we raise our voices against this? To the contrary many of us cheered.
So, why the double standard now when Pakatan loses at its own unethical game. Why the ‘scorn’ for the Sultan? Now the Sultan of Perak has made a decision many are unhappy and show contempt towards his highness.
In the end we must be truthful. Are we being truthful for having 2 sets of rules? If BN elected repesentatives hop over to Pakatan its Great. But not the other way around. This is just a double standard.
The end does not justify the means. Anwar started this dangerous unethical game.
We should reflect on what each of us wants. Is it a new beginning or mere eye wash? True change or just different people?
I really feel fooled. But it is my own fault for believing Pakatan Rakyat and RPK’s writings.
I so wanted to believe that I fooled myself. I blame myself and no one else.
Peace.

I have a question.
If the MB of Perak, who was legally elected into that post following due process after the last state election, now requests for the dissolution of the State Assembly for a valid reason – an act which I believe is well within his powers to exercise – then what if any, can the valid reasons be that will justify that valid request from the MB being denied by the constitutional head of the State, and being allegedly overridden by another competing request (from the DPM) based on a more questionable basis?
My understanding is that constitutional heads of state everywhere take great pains to stay well above the fray at all times as it were. They also follow due process and principled conventions and the important caveat that as constitutional guardians put there by the sovereign People in the first place, to act as the People’s moral Guardians, they are under a strict stewardship duty of care to the Peopel to pay particular heed to that timeless guiding adage which states that “with great privilege comes great, if not even greater, responsibility”.
The mind boggles further at the fast-escalating farce of a situation that, in my view, need never have arisen in the first place if the vast majority of politicians over there had an ounce/gram of principle and even real love for their motherland Malaysia.

I believe that the Perak Sultanate in the 50s, 60s, 70s and early 80s used to be rotated amongst its three royal families with the son of the “sitting” Sultan being given the position of the Raja Di Hilir, which is 3rd in line to succeed. Above him would be the Raja Bendahara, ordinarily the eldest son of the previous Sultan and who would be 2nd in line to succeed. Above him would be the Raja Muda, ordinarly the eldest son of the yet previous Sultan (ie. two Sultans ago) and who would be 1st in line to succeed.
How then is it that Raja Nazrin, son of the present Sultan,is the Raja Muda when going by the then established order he should be the 3rd in line to succeed and not the next in line? What happened to the 2 other royal families of Perak? How did this change come about? The answer/s may be worth looking into.

patience is a virtue. its only 4 years from now, people. The BN crooks cannot run away from coming back to get a mandate from us. Lets work hard for a decisive victory. PR doesnt need any unconstitutional assistance.

.
Tun M must be real happy about this – his script was made to come true.
However the sad thing is that this senile old man is apt in regurgitating the old garbage of his past – he has become incredibly deluded thinking that – old formulas are gonna work for new problems.
The truth must be told – let the people judge for themselves.
The sultan is a let down. This is the moment of opportunity for him to set the wheel right in the forseeable future of righteous Malaysians and Malaysia itself but unfortunately he was too blind was perhaps being fooled by the idea of the “second coming.” Yeah right – to trust a leader with too many baggages?

to bbc,
it’s good to be patient, but I am afraid 4 years later our country will become the mess we see in Taiwan, probably worse. At least they have a lot of gobally competitive companies.
Some government officials in Taiwan were asked recently why since president Ma came into power there wasn’t any government project, no spending. The answer was the previous president had taken away all the money.

Actually frankly, the advise you should have given was to Anwar NOT to rely on the resignation letters. Instead a punitive agreement should have been signed between assemblymen and their party. If they defect, they have to pay say RM1-5 million and maybe RM20 million if they cause the downfall of a PR govt. The basis of it would have been the election investment made including national campaigns. They can resign to cancel the obligations. That would have been enforceable!

What’s the point of blaming AI or the Sultan? Hopping has always been legal! They were just playing by the rules! M had played little hopping games in the past too.
My advice to PR/BR is : Roll with the punches. Whatever rules BN sets up for the game can also be used against them.

To many frogs and money change hand.
Two frogs jump ship from PKR to excape corruption and sexual charges to UMNO to get back their money and sexual feeling.
The DAP lady sold her soul for new TOYOTA/$/even new partner.
One frogs from UMNO jump faster from PKR and to UMNO to set up the trap.
The Sultan Amused me again.

Dear fellow voters – let’s be strong – did we expect to defeat the Evil forces of BN with just one stroke on 8 March 08? So let’s gird ourselves to fight BN yet again – this country needs us to do that; to get us to a 2 party system.
Let’s vent then stay focused – continue to work to dislodge BN.
Meanwhile, let Pakatan re-coalesce and be the spear the Rakyat desperately needs to fight BN.
And the turncoats – we know who you are – may you and your millions be damned!

All these while it has been an issue that BN and Umno have been exploiting and betraying Malaysian people. So, we did what we supposed to do in the last GE. But the protector in the name of King, who has been regarded as just one step below the almighty, now has done injustice to his own subjects. What can we say; even the second in command next god too could favour money and power in this country.
But, one thing to remember, this could be a short one. As four more years to go, who knows who is going to be around until the full term? Only god knows!

So many heartbreaks all over Malaysia for the Perakians…we are with you…

Rasional lah sikit.
