At 6.34pm today, to the ‘PKR Secretariat responds’ post, Potblack sent in the following comment :
“Bro Haris, Please be responsible in your reporting. Either the Sec.Gen or your informer is telling a lie.So can you tell us honestly whether there is any possibilty that your informer is using you to destroy the creditbility of the PKR elections?”
Potblack, I’m going to try and answer you.
Before I address the Sec-Gen’s statement today, let me just draw your attention to and comment on a statement that appeared in The Malaysian Insider yesterday.
“PKR has denied prominent social activist Haris Ibrahim’s claims that ballot papers for the on-going party election is available outside the polls for cheating by Azmin Ali’s camp, saying those in the lawyer’s possession are from the previous weekend’s voting…
“The problem is, that is the old ballot. This week’s ballot is a different colour,” a senior PKR official told The Malaysian Insider on condition of anonymity.
It is understood that party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution will issue a statement on the matter as soon as possible. He is also due to announce this weekend’s results on Monday” – Malaysian Insider.
The ballot papers that I disclosed in my post yesterday ‘is the old ballot’, according to a senior PKR official.
The question of how I and the informant came to be in possession of this ‘old ballot’ has not been addressed.
This is an important question that has gone unanswered.
The very fact of my possession of the same contradicts the very first statement quoted.
At 2pm today, I met and had coffee with Dr Molly Cheah, the chairperson of the PKR central election committee, the body tasked with the duty of ensuring that the ongoing PKR elections is indeed free and fair.
I met her to hand over the copies of the ballot papers received from the informant, the serial numbers duly removed.
Interestingly, this was the first she was actually seeing the ballot papers.
It is for her now to verify, if she cares to, if these were indeed from the batch of ballot papers printed by HQ for use in weekend No.1 of the party elections, from 29th October to 31st October..
And if so, how then did I, who have no role to play in this electoral process, and the informant who had in his possession at least 100 of the same and claimed to have access to more than 1,000, come to be in possession of these if the central election committee have the ballot papers intended for use in all 4 weekend elections secured under lock and key?
Or, as appears to be the case, is the safekeeping of these ballot papers now entrusted to staff at the Secretariat who were intended to assist the central election committee on administrative matters, and no more?
If so, what other duties and functions of the central election committee have been assumed or, worse, seized, by these Secretariat staff?
Who is overseeing the elections, in truth?
If it is not the central election committee, then who?
The Secretariat staff again?
Free and fair elections overseen by Secretariat staff, then, and not Molly Cheah and her committee, anymore?
How convenient!
Potblack, in my post yesterday, I wrote that the informant explained that the central election committee returning officer could manipulate the list of members attending at the ongoing elections, where voter turnout is low, adjust it upwards and stuff additional ballot papers into the ballot box.
Saifuddin, in his press statement speaks of 5 security features : serial numbers, stamp of the Election Officer, different colour paper used for each week’s ballot papers, presence of candidates counting agents, and a tallying sheet.
Who is lying, you ask, Potblack?
“Zaid’s political secretary Rashid Azad Khan said the polls should be called off in view of allegations of irregularities and claims of phantom voters.
“For example, our polling agent reported that the voter turnout in Kubang Pasu was only 84.
“But the initial vote tally showed that Azmin clinched 80 votes while Zaid garnered 76 votes.
“Where did the additional 72 votes come from? Could they be phantom voters?’’ he asked.
Rashid also said the agents had reported that there was a 30-minute blackout immediately after balloting ended at 4pm Friday.
“Candidates’ agents were not allowed in, and the ballot boxes were not sealed at the time,’’ he claimed, adding one of the election officer was caught on camera wearing Azmin’s campaign badge raising questions over their impartiality.
Rashid claimed that following complaints, the election monitor decided that the Kubang Pasu result should be a tie of 81-81.
“I am appalled. How can the results simply be amended?’’ he asked” – The Star
Now, before I am accused of selectively believing the mainstream media, I have checked this story with Zaid’s political secretary, Rashid Azad Khan, who confirms the same.
Rashid also confirms that the Zaid team have evidence in hand of the fraud in Kubang Pasu and had communicated this to Saifuddin.
Rashid says that Saifuddin promised to see them but has reneged on the promise to this day.
This is the ballot paper that would have been used in the Kubang Pasu election on 29th October.
Potblack, Saifuddin will hold his usual press conference tomorrow at 11.30am at PKR HQ.
Ask him about Kubang Pasu.
Ask him who is lying.
You ask, Potblack, whether the informant is using me to destroy the credibility of PKR?
Really, Potblack, with all that we’ve seen over the last few months, has not PKR been doing an excellent job on its own in demolishing its own credibility?
At 7.35pm tonight, Sampalee sent in the following comment to the same ‘PKR Secretariat responds’ post :
“Dear Haris,To hide their nonsense, they will cast doubts on you to distract.Do not waste time with pr and get on with the third force. When the third force is up and running,we can then co-operate as peers”.
Bro Sampalee, I lost any hope that BN would reform after the 308 tsunami some time back.

PAS and DAP being responsible partners of the Pakatan Rakyat do not want to be seen as meddling in the affairs of PKR.
Even if the comments from those two parties are good for the Pakatan as a whole, would Anwar who seems to be enamoured by Azmin do anything concrete to undo the entrenched mob led by Azmin?
For that matter I doubt Anwar would listen to Wan Azizah or Nurul Izzah. They being women of his household are nothing but subservient beings to the omnipotent head of the Muslim family. They have to listen and do as he says and not the other way around.

50 years from now I wonder if our descendants will still be discussing the same topic – corruption? With what is going on within the ruling coalition and the Opposition I think it is highly likely. I’m filled with despair. Our only hope for change, the Opposition, has let us down badly. All this talk about a 3rd force. What 3rd force? Even if it emerges it will still be the same old thing. We do not appear to have honest leaders. They talk about justice, transparency, etc., etc. Talk is cheap – they will say anything to get our votes. I’m out of here!

One further more subtle point on this mess:
The guidance printed at the top of the ballot paper for the Deputy President post is not clear enough IMO and may have a miniscule potential to confuse or mislead some voters.
From how it is now worded, one might take that guidance to be (a) a request, as in please choose one candidate only from the three candidates shown, or (b) an instruction, as in please choose candidate numbered 1 (one) only.
I know it may be nit-picking or too subtle a distinction to some to perhaps even bother about but neverthless, I am able to make sense of that guidance in two literal ways instantly and hence, some simple voters may read it as an instruction to vote for candidate number 1 only.

CigMa-Hindraf is the existing third force. They were the first to pull away from PR, after noticing that PR had no real intentions to undertake substantive reforms, other than cosmetic changes.
Congratulations on coming this far. I want to say ‘I told you so’, but lets cap that.
Now what is needed is for Anwar, LGE and Hadi to resign or move into the background as advisors, after which we can give PR back our support. This is the only solution.

I think a ‘3rd force’ may not give us anything different from what we already have. It would be no better than AirAsia opening a 3rd check-in desk. Those people who want to spend the longest time in the departure lounge, or want the glory of being first to check-in will jump queues in an effort to get what they really, really want. What ultimate purpose is served?
There aren’t only 2 political choices in Malaysia. There’s one really, really awful one that controls nearly all the media and threatens to slaughter us if we’re not grateful enough, and a second whose only apparent difference from the first one is that they’re not them. Out of expediency, a large number of people unhappy with the first choice promote the second. Expediency is a late 20th / early 21st Century debilitating global disease. What we really need to ‘take back’ is issue-based democracy and active involvement. BN have done their best to extinguish competent democratic behaviour and the “Movement for Expediency” are gaily pissing on the embers.
How about setting up a website somewhere between The Nut Graph’s “Six Questions” and Lavalife – a kind of ‘Fantasy Politics’ site, only with real issues and real candidates (and prospective candidates)? I’m thinking some kind of exhaustive list of substantial, testable changes a democratic representative could conceivably make, from the mundane (voting age) to the esoteric (a safe footpath that actually goes somewhere, anywhere) and allow voters to express their wish for certain changes and prospective candidates to rank those same changes in terms of their level of commitment to bring them about.
I think it would help people think about what it is they really, really want for the nation and for their neighbourhoods. Also, it might help people discover what sort of things they *could* wish for, and which of their current political options are promising those things (or not). It would show them how well their aspirational ‘demand’ was met by representative ‘supply’. That would help existing candidates shape their manifestos and also help prospective representatives spot ‘gaps in the market’ they might like to fill. Analysing the patterns of demand and promise might also help voters to concentrate their electoral power on certain issues and could assist independent candidates in finding like-minded candidates with whom they might consider ‘going large’ and forming a party.
If the thing worked as a voter-to-candidate matchmaking site and sidelined the ‘party platform’ I think it could go a long way to reducing the media gap between the celebrity establishment parties and newcomers / independents. It would be … educational … to compare pre-election promises recorded by the site with post-election performance. That aspect might initially deter large parties (the expediency of forming large groups of allegedly like-minded people necessitating a certain amount of avoidance of commitment or ducking of clarity) in favour of idealistic independents or small parties, but I think that would be no bad thing.
If there’s anybody interesting in setting up such a thing, I’d be glad to contribute some effort. I think there should be only *one* force in democratic politics and that is the voter. An uninformed, incompetent, apathetic, side-lined voter is no force at all.

Hi there,
EDUCATE YOURSELF ON TYPES OF DEMOCRACY
USA, UK and Malaysia, is a *Representative Democracy* (2nd class version) and thus not even truly an open system being limited to the whims and facies of parliamentarians alone. *Participatory Democracy* (1st class version) is a process emphasizing the broad participation of constituents in the direction and operation of political systems.
It avoids the concept of the people having a single view with the inevitable limitations that come from trying to agree what that view is. Government is heavily
decentralized into smaller independent groups to allow personalized preferences within groups to be expressed in a functional manner PREFERRED by each particular group.
The system seeks to avoid problems with centralized and electoral governance, while still providing a stable democratic system and ensuring all forms of human
expression especially those diametrically opposed to be allowed expression. For example theocrat moralists / and sin industries (adult or gambling) can all be represented and functional even while proponents within each group do not use or believe in the other.
Under All expressions will have their own place, albeit in a highly separated manner.
I believe that MCLM 3rd Force is along the lines of what you suggest and along the lines of *Participatory Democracy*. Tell me how and where or also drop a message at my FB group. I’m with you on this suggestion.

You have hit the nail on the head, by re-iterating that Democracy is all about the People and the principles guiding democratic institutions….by the people, for the people and of the people, as we know it.
Democracy is not party politics..which is the sin now. in Malaysia. We lack a dynamism between the People and the idea of Democracy…this co-relation is not being allowed in this country and in certain other Asian countries where greed operates and is first and foremost, the evil. Where power is absolute and corrupts so badly, that it does not want to share.
This is the evil that we have to stamp out and that Haris and other well-meaning persons are trying so hard to educate us into.
And are we truly ready for a people based website, because we are not all allowed to be properly informed or educated. It won’t be fair to not include ALL Malaysians

The question that most of the voters wants to know is do you think that the present group of Pakatan leaders, MPs and Aduns is capable of it. I am not belitting them but from what has been reported in the blogs and papers it looks like most of them are not different from BN in their behaviour. Get us untainted politicians and not recycled ones like anwar ibrahim, chua ji meng, and others’ the list is too long. At the same time retired off all the veterans and made them advisors. only then we can have a credible party to be the government. we might as well vote for BN if we wants Pakatan to runs like them. a good example is local and majlis councillors knows nothing about running it but am there because of they are grassroot leaders of BN.

Lets the 3rd force be PKR’s shadow. Put in alternate candidates of strong credibility to stand in all Parlimen’s seats that ‘belongs’ to PKR. I’m sure the 3rd force can command a significant support against PKR.

Well done bro for the perceptions, doubts and the indignation that has been formed towards PKR the party, its leaders, its struggles, its sucess, its future which are just collateral damage to you and pro Zaid bloggers. It has always been Zaid. He’s the messiah for M’sia, PKR & Pakatan. He’so pure, speaks only the gospel truth even with Utusan and always the victim in Hulu Selangor and now the party elections. When he flip flops, he is pragmatic, when he loses there’s always sabotage. Those that comment for the party, Anwar, Azizah,Syed Hussein, Azmin, Saifudin etc are paid cyber troopers or persons under Azmin’s thumb and those that commented for Zaid are Malaysians that cares. This is what i perceived your blog has become, bro. I just wish the people,s parliament to be the blog for the people and not for any person.

you’re missing the point, bro.
haris raised concerns about the way the elections are being carried out. to date, these concerns have not been satisfactorily addressed. should we ignore this and carry on as if all is well?

Satu masa dulu saya sokong PKR. Hari ini NO WAY!

If Haris Ibrahim plays it straight, nominally with Pakatan’s help, the entirety of the minority vote and the right minded Malays will go to Pakatan and 3rd Force. The people however will need to be informed of what is going on, probably via radio or TV adverts.
Greedy and self serving MPs today keep MCA and MIC under UMNO’s control when MCA and MIC even PPP and Gerakan should throw their weight behind Pakatan to end APARTHEID immediately. Idiotic MCA/MIC/Gerakan/PPP are too greedy to want to end APARTHEID, while PSM only thinks about it’s own autonomy to the exclusion of even engaging the voters. You 4 idiots, go independent and end UMNO hegemony, PSM stop being so race and clique centered PSM is a political party not a NGO.
OTK, how about pulling a ‘Chua Jui Meng’ and leading your PKFZ killing team into MCLM 3rd Force to start the ball rolling to a REAL and CLEAN Malaysia? Palanivel, how about leading the divisions of MIC that want to END APARTHEID to MCLM 3rd Force as well? Dr.Hsu/Khoo Kay Peng, get those Gerakaners who won’t live under BN’s APARTHEID to join up with MCLM 3rd Force! Anyone in BN means acceptance of APARTHEID, who is stupid enough to vote for BN? Since you don’t like Pakatan, try MCLM 3rd Force!
Get in contact with RPK and Haris Ibrahim you 3. Stop being afraid to leave a coalition that insists on APARTHEID and Ketuanan Melayu, we are all equal citizens in MCLM 3rd Force! Just leave BN creep coalition! Join the righteous and asset declaring apartheid ending party!

things are just moving rightly. its the right time for malaysians (at least those who have waken up or just awakening) to move towards issues based politics, and not race based or party based anymore. rather than crying or blaming anyone, this situation is to be appreciated and rejoiced. we are growing up. neither umno nor pakatan based parties can long survive when the very structure of politics is beginning to shift, unless they see it and change accordingly. i rejoice that a significant critical mass in malaysia is waking up. we cannot simply jump into a solution immediately. as the great deming said, a solution to a complex problem cannot come from the problem itself. let us see, and think together and use this blessed technology to meet and create a new beginning..

What a big mess, this PKR.
It saddens me that Anwar and Azmin have brought the party to disrepute with their manipulation of the PKR election as well as forcing members to accept “corrupt” leaders like Azmin and his likes (and there are plenty in PKR).
Zaid is right in pulling out of the race. I guess, he tries to cleanse the PKR from corrupt and iron fisted leaders like Anwar@Azmin and turn the party into the people’s aspiration.
Somehow, Anwar and Azmin got lost along the way. They thought PKR is powerful because of them. Nah!
These clowns forgot the power comes from the people and I for one am withdrawing my support from them.
I was hard on Zaid then. His campaign was rather immature to me. But with the right people, I’m sure he can be the alternative we are looking for.The PRU13 is just around the corner, surely.
I hope my faith is not misplace again. I am sad as it is.

I don’t know how many of those that wrote magnificently this and that toward PKR election really involved in the ground work or just typing their opinion via a keyboard while sipping a RM 10 cup of coffee at Starbuck. To conduct a small meeting of about 20 members, you got to sms and make calls a number of times to each to ensure their present, and you can’t fix the meeting time too earlier as many are still at office, and cannot be too late as some may have lots of house work to do. You got to ensure there is transport to fetch and to return each and everyone safely back home. You may have to firmly tell them there is no allowance for petrol, and got to buy your own lunch, as there is no funding support from the division because the budget might be allocated for more significant event. Honestly I do cursing once a while fu*k you stupid and broke party, no money but still want to be somebody, but the moment I see the members that is voluntarily doing his best without much resources support and even face the threat of losing his job, I ask myself what is the motivation and enthusiasm that drive this people at the ground to contribute their part? Am I doing my part?
Maybe the commenters here are right. PKR know nothing about democracy, they are not only cheating and they can’t even bring their member to vote their aspire leaders, so instead of helping and educating them , some say a third force will solve the problem. But what happen next if the third force doesn’t work? A fourth and fifth force? And you think your faith worth millions and will flow into my pocket so i don’t have to pay the Maxis bill with my own money?
A bunch of brainless idiot.

“Interestingly, this was the first she was actually seeing the ballot papers.”
Interesting certainly, but surprising? Heck, no. Not anymore anyway.
The mind boggles at how it may be possible that the election committee head has not even seen let alone may have reviewed or okayed the design of the ballot papers?
Hasn’t this Molly Cheah person already quit the election committee post some time ago anyway so how can she do anything useful now to dig into the potential intricacies of the dirt that may be concealed in this not so very strange case of an obvious instance of yet another election fraud or irregularity mystery?
No doubt the PR plot will soon thicken further and perhaps even congeal into something more of a mess so what more can one say other than….hey, can’t wait for that next mindboggling helping to Putrjaya to come long served courtesy of PKR or perhaps DAP next or maybe even PAS the next time after that?

According to my source, BN will not call for a GE next year for the simple logic that PR controlled states need not dissolve their state assemblies and as such rich states like S’gor and Penang would not be on offer to BN to reclaim back.(Kindly correct me if I’m wrong) So the ‘3rd force’ may have valuable time probably upto a year on their side to organize themselves into a credible force. As you have rightfully pointed out Anwar is not a credible person to be worthy to be our PM. I am not at all interested in even mentioning BN as an alternative at as it is self explanatory. The 3rd force could act as pressure group to PR. “NO MORE FREE RIDE, NO MORE TAKING US FOR A RIDE !”. To get our support we want proof-Action and not mere words and empty promises (janji kosong, forked tongue and senang lupa policy that Anwar/UMNO is famous for). If we want to reclaim our nation we have to help those from the bottom up and not vice verse. A train can only go as fast as it’s slowest coach and until regular every day Joe’s (Ali,Ah Pek and Ramu) are willing to sacrifice for this we will never be successful. The 3rd force ie the silent majority are the most potent force in any land. Most of the times politicians ride on this force using them, chewing on them and after being elected spitting them out between their teeth. So the onus is not on Haris to pull this off but on you !

As far as I can see, there is no such thing as a “jewelled throne of Putra Jaya” in Malaysia.
I can only see a place called Putrajaya which at present happens to be where the Malaysian People’s concrete seat of (Democratic)Government is formally located.
It also happens to be where the present pathetic vacuous shell of what was the Rakyat’s previous independent pinnacle of the Judiciary is located, and which as most of us know, was absorbed into the Rakyat’s Government in 1988 but WITHOUT the formal consent of an informed Rakyat and hence, remains to this day an ultra vires act or an act of treason carried out by the then formal state Cabinet official/s who executed that unratified and unaccountable out of order act which must have been designed to be clearly against the public and national interest of the Rakyat of Malaysia.

That’s too simple to believe. No need a professor to tell you that doing so will certainly trigger the division management and candidates’ representatives, who were attending the voting section and have the number in mind. Further more, the PKR website is publishing the result details (by Cabang). How stupid if the returning officers doing so. More stupid for those who believe this!
