Malaysianinsider reported yesterday that, whilst speaking to a large crowd in Pasir Putih, Kelantan, Najib said that BERSIH 2.0 chairperson Ambiga was ‘the one who threatened Islam’.
No elaboration on when and how she is supposed to have made the threat.
A vile and unsubstantiated allegation.
I’ve known Ambiga for over a decade now and have known her to always be most respectful of all faiths and beliefs, without exception.
I’m not alone. Many members of the Bar will bear testimony to this.
Perhaps Najib should desist in unsubstantiated attacks against Ambiga and explain why charges of sedition for a most vile and filthy attack on the faith of the Malays in this country by Syeditious Akbar ali were dropped by the Attorney General’s chambers.
The charge sheet, in PDF, is linked below again for your ease of reference.
Charge Sheet against Seditious Akbar Ali
You will note that it is dated 6th May, 2008 and signed by DPP Mohamed Hanafiah bin Zakaria, the same day, according to Syeditious post dated 18th October, 2010, that he was charged in court.
It is fair to assume that someone in the AG’s chambers had, before Syeditious was charged, scrutinized the investigation papers submitted by the police authorities and had formed the view that Syeditious comments were indeed seditious and warranted the preferring of charges.
Hence the charges in court on 6th May, 2008 upon the terms as appear in the charge sheet.
And I cannot imagine that anyone who has since read the full tenor of Syeditious comments, however much they disliked the sedition laws, would argue that he did not deserve to be charged for such an insensitive and hateful attack.
In my related post yesterday, I had shared how, after Syeditious had received advise of legal counsel, he had asked that no moves be made to raise techncal objections until he gave further instructions, and when those instructions finally came, it was that no such technical objections were to be taken as the case against him would be dropped.
As Syeditious had predicted, the charges were subsequently dropped.
Who approved the dropping of those charges?
Was it the AG?
If so, does this mean the AG shares the view of Syeditious, that ‘the case was nothing’?
Does Najib agree that the charges were properly dropped, and that ‘the case was nothing’?
How did Syeditious know that the charges would be dropped?
Did Syeditious offer any inducement to secure the abandonment of those charges against him?
Should MACC investigate if corrupt practices were involved in the decision to drop those charges and, if so, should not Syeditious resign from the Anti-Corruption Advisory Panel?
Given his vile and disgusting attack on the beliefs of the Malays in this country, which make the episode of the Danish cartoons of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) pale in comparison, should he not be removed from that public office?
Najib, could we have some credible answers to these burning questions, please?

Najib, as the PM should not have stooped so low in Kelantan. The character assination role should be left to Perkasa’s frogs.

Just like the U.S. & Singapore who are now loudly silent over Malaysia’s shennanigans, Syed Akbar Ali, too, has made a deal with them.
He has forgotten the Holy Prophet’s admonition – ‘Scholars should not knock on the doors of princes.’ Or they’ll all have to dance to their tunes. Note the vile comments against National Laureate, Dato’ A Samad Said.

This UMNO PM sees women as a sex object and if they do not sit well with his evil intentions, he will blow them to pieces with the C4 he stole from the Ministry of Defence.
Najib, a son from a privileged family, “It takes a Big man to admit he has a problem. It takes a Bigger man to admit, he will try to solve the problem” Your problem is you run a UMNO animal farm, whose residents have no respect for Islam. …particularly, this sniffing running dog AG!!

Haris, you are hitting below the belt.
Syed should have his views of arabs and their religion, and they are perfectly candid and nothing to apologise about. The charges should not have arisen in the first place as it is frivolous. So the dropping of those charges is definitely in order and a sign of a slowly maturing Malay polity.
That he leads the beguiled Malays deeper into the club of doom is another matter. Why is this bothering you?

temenggong – having your own views and expressing them constructively is different from vilifying and insulting the belief of others. Secondly, while we want the right to express, we should not deny others – like what Syed is doing on his blog. Thirdly, if you are guided by the Quran, you would not stop low and become tools for propanganda = like what Syed has become. Peace.

Temenggong,
You must be a stupid cow to say that. A caricature can almost cause a big jihad and you want to start talking about maturing malay polity.
Are you are a muslim or what?
There is something seriously wrong about how this religion is being practiced here in Malaysia. Sometimes, I pity those who are born into the religion but really has no appreciation of the religion and are simply there because there are born into it. So sad that we are literally governed by religion to the point of being enslaved by it, what more, the smart ones exploiting it for their selfish causes.

Huh?
Can you please elaborate before I rip your ass?
If there is something really wrong with the way islam is practiced here by the Malay masses, then Syed’s views would be the correct antidote, if you’ve read anything that he says.

It amazes me how humans have develop this impecable talent of branding. We have become the masters of marketing. “Democracy” for instance is still called democrasy even when CIA helped topple Mossadeq, an Iranian people elected president, to replace with their puppet, the Shah of Iran, via a smooth coup de tat. The “good guys” wage war on terrorism. And war is not terrifying as compared to terrorism I suppose.
Najib called Ambiga “seditious”. Since when fighting for the right to practice basic human rights, which is to voice out against what is perceived as injustice, becomes suddenly “seditious”? Keeping reticence is better when there is the need to voice out one’s thought because it is not “seditious”? If so, instigating people to free the slaves during Abraham Lincoln can be also called “seditious”. A more precise definition would be “seditious to whom?”. Definition therefore depends on who defines it. It is “good” when it serves the purpose of majority, and “bad” if it doesn’t.
Then again, Syed Akhbar Ali is also voicing out his thoughts, just like Ambiga, albeit i must admit that his method is different….but still, of which he thinks is to urge Muslims to use their God given gift, the brains, ushering us to actually use it. And yet, just like Najib had branded Ambiga “seditious”, Syed too, became “Syeditious”. It’s a fantastic way to shut a person up.
The truth is not about consensus. The truth is just the truth. And sadly, through human history, the people who discover the truth almost always gets shunned by the imbecillic majority who have brandings to shut the minority up. If instigating people to think is called “seditious”, can people in power be charged for “obstruction of human right to thinking”?
[6:116] “Wert thou to follow the common run of those on earth, they will lead thee away from the way of Allah. They follow nothing but conjecture: they do nothing but lie.”
But here’s a thought. If Najib calls Ambiga “seditious” just because she instigates people to rise up and voice out their dispair, so how does calling Syed, (a person who works towards promoting Muslims to think, not just inherit Islam via genetic passdown, and dare be verbal about it), “Seditious” makes you, Mr Haris Ibrahim, any better than Najib ?
