The ‘PJ Selatan Get To Know Your MP’ team met YB Donald Lim at his service centre in Section 8, PJ on 18/9/2007.
Three national issues of major concern to the group were brought up with the MP. These were set out in a memorandum that was handed over to YB Donald.
Avtaran Singh led the discussions on the first : the increasing polarisation of the citizenry and how far removed we have as a nation moved from the aspiration of ‘one people, one nation’.
Zainal Badri raised the concerns of the group of how our secular constitution is being overshadowed by assertions that this is now an Islamic state.
Peter Sinniah raised with YB Donald our concerns that the government was dragging its feet in the setting up of the IPCMC.
In the course of the meeting, which lasted for more than an hour, we also had occasion to raise with the MP our concerns on the state of education in the country which we felt was a major contributory factor to concerns 1 and 2 above.
We informed YB Donald that we needed to be clear as to his stand on these issues and what concrete plans were afoot to address these issues.
We have also informed the MP that we wish to have another meeting with him in two weeks so that he may fully respond to us on these concerns.
The PJ Selatan Get to know your MP team will be having a press conference this Saturday, 22nd September, 2007 to enable the group to share their thoughts on this initiative.
The group has also very kindly agreed to make the memorandum of issues available to any other group who wish to use the same to approach their respective MPs.

We need to get more citizenry to meet their MP and ask the tough questions. Let them know what is causing the ants in your pants. Otherwise, they will be in la-la land. At worse, you will know where they stand and you can make your election choices accordingly.
Of course, if the MP does not want to meet, that already speaks volumes.
It is after all, the People’s Parliament.

Syabas to the “Peoples Parliament”!!Can we have one sitting of the Peoples’ Parliament foe Petaling Jaya Selatan too?…Its long overdue, because my member of Parliament seems more engrossed with street lights and broken drains when Critical National Issues are not being addressed…
I keep wondering if WE the Voters elected a Member Of Parliament to Represent our hopes and aspirations at the National Level or just a “Yes Woman” Barisan National representative!!…maybe representing just the interest of the MCA!!

As of today 4th Dec. 2007,my Member of Parliament YB. Dato’ Chiew Mei Fun (Petaling Jaya Utara)is still busy worrying about parking of vechicles around KDU college in Damansara Jaya!!…with appropriate publicity in the MCA mouthpiece the STAR.
I am very keen to know her stand on the following more important National Issues, that should be of her concern:
1) Proposed extension of the retirement age of the Chairman of SPR…Would she speak against the bill if she considers herself indeed as a genuine “Wakil Rakyat” first and wakil BN/MCA last!
2) What is her stand on the BERSIH demand for FREE and FAIR Elections?
3) Her stand on constitutional Rights of Citizens to Peacefull Assembly without Police harassment.
4) Does she accept that HINDRAF has some very genuine and legitimate concerns, that need urgent national attention.
