“Bro, no new postings. You makan angin ah? Election soon n u holidaying ah? Hope all is well with ABU n you” – email received from EC 2 weeks ago.
Holidaying?
I wish, EC.
I’ve been on the ground, traveling through the constituencies, doing ABU work, both overt and covert.
Finding my way back to the ABU secretariat on weekends to join Hawkeye’s training sessions with new ABU volunteers.
And joining the ABU volunteers on their “Dari Rakyat Kepada Rakyat” walkabout campaign.
The first of such campaigns kicked off in Sungai Siput 2 weekends back.
Can’t share much more in this post about that Sungai Siput campaign or the rest of the work that has been going on these last few weeks as I am joining the ABU volunteers this morning in a “Dari Rakyat Kepada Rakyat” walkabout campaign in Semenyih.
Will share more of all the ABU happenings on the ground in a later post today after I am back from Semenyih.
This short post is just to tell those of you who have left messages of concern on my handphone and sent e-mails bearing the same message, that I love you too.

Haris and ABU gang, you should go abuing Bukit Antarabangsa. I suspect Dr. Rafick has gone matey with BN/UMNO based on his blog Rights to Write going private. He and his gang has said that their votes will go enblock to whichever party helped them get their abandoned projects revived and I think this is their reason for working towards helping an UMNO/BN candidate win in their constituency. And Dr. Rafick probably cannot tolerate criticism of their basis of voting and probably don’t want others to know their plans and steps to help UMNO/BN win. Please ABU Bukit Antarabangsa.

Dr Rafick and his group at Bkt Antarabangsa had blatantly offered to “prostitute” themselves when he tried to sell their block of votes to whoever could resolve their abandoned project problem.
A reverse “you help me, I help you” deal, which stinks just as bad as the May 2010 Sibu version, and points just as clearly at the abysmal moral standards of those behind it.
Don’t ask what happened to the greater good of the nation, and the best interests of the rakyat.
Then again, Dr Rafick’s character was also evident when he tried to do a “CSI” on the death of Teoh Beng Hock based on a couple of grainy photos and embellished by his own “Dr” prefix. A horrendous series of so-called analyses which are at best tenous, but to me are more like dangerous snake-oil rumour-mongering. Attracted a considerable number of believers who swallowed his “CSI” spiel and became loyal groupies.
Even well-meaning civil society leaders can make the same mistake as Dr Rafick in trying to make deals, even if they are with devils we know.
Datin Azimah of PAGE, who has bveen fighting so valiantly to rescue our children from a school setup which leaves them cacat where English is concerned, once made a similar offer to get her groups to vote for whichever party that can make the necessary changes in the school programs. I trust that she has learnt her lesson after being rapped very hard by many following that unwise (to put it mildly) offer; thankfully she has certainly not repeated the offer since.
As for Dr Rafick, I would not personally want to hope for a similar “lesson learnt” change. It would be very nice if he proves me wrong; we all make mistakes, and sincere efforts to make Malaysia better are crucially needed. In the meantime, I will categorise him as a loose cannon which may fire in the wrong direction for a variety of reasons.

Oh hello Haris, it’s so nice to have you back where you belong with ABU and growing strong.
Have done a small collection from among my friends which will be sent off shortly….amazing how instinctively supportive they are of ABU!!
ABU is everyone’s friend.
