“What we must do now goes beyond political parties. We need the rakyat to rise up to claim their institutions, and demand that our public institutions are answerable to them. We must wake up to our sovereignty as citizens, reclaim the constitution which constitutes us as a nation and guarantees our rights, and demand a comprehensively reformed government to restore public confidence. We must do this before it is too late” – Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Correct decision to decline Zaid’s invite, Ku Li.
Now what you need to do is walk out of UMNO.

More support for “not not” politizing (compartmentalising) Teoh Beng Huat death (May his soul rest in peace):
UMNO’s war against Malaysia: Dean John:”Except to make the point that, rather than reacting to every successive atrocity as if it were an isolated case, it’s time to put all the pieces together and face the big picture: that Umno is waging an increasingly uncivil war against the Malaysia that most Malaysians stand for.”

It is always so refreshing to read any article by Ku Li who tries to look at the landscape with clear experienced eyes.I applaud his upholding his ideals for we would be like any animal without ideals of what is good and fair for the human race and not just for ourselves, based on a sense of history and God. However, when we are old Ku Li, we must do what we do best and where we can have the most impact and where we can leave a good heritage behind just as the men you mentioned left one for you to follow. You have to look around and decide where and when you can do that.Sometimes we don’t have time to convert the stiff necked..in UMNO or PKR.Time and tide waits for no man.

Very eloquent and very inspiring. So were the speeches of Raja Nazrin and Sultan of Perak.
So far only Zaid Ibrahim is different. And it’s only because people like him still exist in Malaysia, that I put away any thoughts of migrating and screamed in my heart, “LAWAN TETAP …..LAWAN”

I dun bother reading his speeches. They are just that, words without the force of actionable deeds.
He knows what’s wrong, he knows they cannot change..so the next logical step is to change them.
He has no grass root support anyway, so even if he leaves amno, it will not make any difference.
It will only be symbolic in nature and a huge moral victory if he does do so and joins the next federal gov’t in waiting.
He is a spent force politically.

Tengku Razaleigh, you obviously cannot expect to bring the necessary changes while in UMNO. They dont welcome change, in fact fight change. They cannot change, in fact are fossilised. They have even rejected you in the recent elections. Got the message?
So, walk oout of UMNO. Where you go subsequently is not important for now. If you sincerely wish for the change you so passionately write about, then please seek a different pasture to effect this change. thats the only way out. continuing to stay in UMNO is not an option.

Dear Tengku,
An honourable thing to do is to voice your strongest protest with the current leaders of Malaysia. You are well respected by a lot of Malaysians who are not aligned to any political affiliation. Im with a BN component party but my heart bleeds each time BN mini bonarpartes try to inflamme racial overtones. If you are sincere in saving Malaysia, stand up and be counted. I have thrown my BN membership card in the toilet bowl as an act of despise of the BN. I rather be in hell than be affiliated to BN. (BIGGEST NERDS). SAVE OUR MALAYSIA from these nerds who think they can create a 1969 again. Together with YAB Anwar, Datuk Zaid, Lim Kit Siang, Datuk Chua Jui Meng and all the other statesmen WE can Make a difference. Im a Malaysian first, a ethnic race second. Do not allow the mini bornarpartes ruin our country. God Bless and guide You in your decisions.

True Malaysians who love malaysia should come forward for a apolitical forum to stop undemocratic activity of all politicians to undermine our beloved nation. We are no more a nascent developing country, we have richness in our shared culture and is destined for greater heights only if our great institutions like judiary, police and Macc are seen and act without fear or favour. Doing lip service to their political masters, thus ignoring the right of civil soceity is a ripe prescription for diasaster in magagement of human capital.Let the interlactuals from our universities and great leaders must join forces to educate our politicians the norm of good governance. MSM press should free to disect the news withour fear or favour and play a stablising role than to pour petrol to the situation. Human trajedy has become racial polarity by the MSM. Such iodiocy must stop.

Tengku Razaleigh….you say that UMNO had a soul, ONCE…. and you say it was founded on sound principles. Whoever has a soul does not ever lose it. More than that your whole speech…..seems to me, to be an admonishment of this failed party, yet it surprises me, that you feel the need to stick to something as base and as degenerate as UMNO. Quit this baseless, good for itself only party, and follow a new DREAM.Remember, anything has its beginning with a dream! This UMNO which appears to be your shining star has lost and lost miserably its shine, run from it, before you also lose your shine.
I say this because I know that people still hold you in high esteem. I had the good fortune a couple of years ago, to visit Kelantan a few times. It is so refreshing out there…the food is something to talk about and the people rather …..and surprisingly friendly without fancy airs. Everyone talked of you as someone worthy of his name, even my taxi driver told me what a good person you were…he treated me to a ride up to your home, because he told me that you were a humble guy,as he put it, as humble as Tok Nik Aziz. Your home, again to my surprise, convinced me.
In Malaysia today, we need champions who will fight for all Malaysians, who will discontinue the use of the damned thing called race…to challenge the misuse of the very institutions that you speak of, as having degenerated and that need restoration.
Help us regain our sovereignty as true citizens of this country,to reclaim and restore our original Constitution which has been meddled with, without regard to its stength as THE Supreme law of the land.
Take the opportunity, in your present situation, you appear as troubled as the rest of us Malaysians over the present fiasco.. Why not have a chat with Haris Ibrahim. You may discover a similarity of outlook between you, as far as this nation goes. He is one of our champions who has set his sights with a view to restoring to its originality, this beautiful country of ours, from a bunch of self propagating individuals who have lost respect for the word NATION.

Ku Li,
By staying in UMNO with your other assemblymen supporters, you are just perpetrating the evils that UMNO is unleashing upon the democratic rights of the people.
By staying in UMNO, the warlords will have no qualms in using all the machineries to impart fear onto the people.
Make your stand and save the nation from implosion!

Tengku Li ! i have the outmost Respect for you for all these years. You are a Good Fighter with Great ideals. You came very close to be the PM. But at the crucial point, several dogs showed their true colors.
Whats past is past n we cant go back to change anything. The PRESENT Now is something else. Its a Window of Opportunity to correct all those you wanted to do but never got to do.
Use this Wisely. I know you are thinking of the various warlords depending on you. You can perpetuate this nice cosy situation or Stop & Just make a Decision ! A decision that will affect Millions of Lives & their Generations to Come.
We, the simple Rakyat are Eagerly waiting for our Prince to make a simple but a Momentous Decision for the benefit of the Peaceful Law Abiding Citizens, the Silent Majority, the Nation.
Its What you did for the Beloved Nation that will forever be etched in the minds & hearts of all Bangsa Malaysia.
A split second decision
Someone got to do it
Your Purpose of Birth is clearly defined now. You are here for a great Historic purpose
Put your Best Efforts but Leave the outcome to GOD ALMIGHTY !
May GOD bless you, your beloved family and your generations till Eternity !

Isnt it disappointing that a highly regarded statesman has gotten his priority all wronged?
How is it that a party “guiding principles” more important than a nation I have no clue but perhaps the good prince care to elaborate about the “guiding principles” of unmo that is keeping you out for doing the nation a favor.
Hope the guiding principles do not include the killing and murdering of innocents as is clearly displayed currently or the racist and bigotry that have been so outlandishly carried out?
As a person who care more for the nation the good prince has been called to the forefront as a guiding light it is astounding for the good prince to refused the request, it seems amounting to a hypocritical slap on the face of all the good people that have looked up to you with utmost respect.
What is it that is keeping you from doing the nation good good prince?
Was it the oath of death to keep “pendatang” out of Malaysia for the benefit of all the malays?

How are we to save our country requires deep philosophical thinking and analysis beyond mere politics. Will there be more bloggers/people discussing the big picture of Teoh Beng Hock’s tragedy or will we continue to focus on the trees and miss out the forest?
Many intellectuals are puzzled by the state of affairs of Malaysia. There is a political mystery that needs to be solved first at the human level.
If our leaders are rational and sensible people, it would never be in their interest to take advantage of citizens (half of whom voted for them) under NORMAL circumstances.
There is a political economic theory that says that under certain unique circumstances, even rational people will behave against their long-term interests.
I think the real reason is because by 2012, these leaders intuitively know that the world will be a different landscape (including the real possibility they will be voted out) so it is quite rational for them to take as much advantage, financial and political power, now in order to intimidate, demoralise and indoctrinate the people into passivity and acceptance of the current political situation.
This is my view as I strongly believe PM Najib is a rational man. But whether he is rational for himself, his party or for the rakyat is the billion dollar issue which all Malaysians needs to probe and resolve.
Instead of correctly calling for a change of leaders/political regimes, it will be more powerful and effective to call for a change of mindset and heartset in every Msian.
Open the floodgates of intellectual discourse and we will soon find the culprit is in the false ideas and selfish motives hidden behind our public personas.

Many have commented about what to do to reclaim our institutions, the people’s sovereignty … I have only 1 suggestion – like what they did in 1948 – a national strike and we all stay home.
